It is not an exaggeration to say that we loved the Antioch School so much we relocated across the…read morecountry for it. We were a family living in Los Angeles, raising 2 young kids and had learned enough about the values of grit, self-directed learning, and raising empowered kids that we knew the right school environment was of the utmost importance to us. The problem was, the only kinds of schools in Los Angeles that offer that kind of education cost LITERALLY 20-30 thousand dollars a year. For PRESCHOOL. That is insane, and it was impossible for us to consider. But when we discovered the Antioch School, their incredible teachers, the grounds, the philosophy, the history, etc. AND saw that it was not only much less expensive, but offers financial aid to nearly 50% of it's students, it sealed the deal for us. We moved here and have had our oldest in the school for 2 years and his transformation has been incredible. Getting to watch his social skills and capacity for play and learning, trying new things, etc. It's the greatest gift we could give him (and ourselves as parents.) If you're a parent who believes that the modern public system of over-testing and lack of exploration for kids is NOT the solution to raising well-adjusted, smart, capable kids or if you believe that playing outdoors is more important than spending 8 hours a day at a desk, this is the school for you. And you won't find a better one for hundreds of miles around.

I was a teacher at DIS for over ten years and then retired. It was the best school I'd ever been a…read morepart of in my 35 year career. The staff is wonderful and caring. The curriculum is varied. Students receive a mix of Ohio standards in ELA, math, science, and Social Studies, along with instruction in Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Q'ran. Students are involved in extracurricular activities such as Q'ran competition, Script's Spelling Bee, art, competitive basketball, and others. The teachers and staff are dedicated professionals. DIS is the perfect school for students to receive a well-rounded education, including religious studies, as well as a sense of belonging and family. Dayton Islamic School is an A+!

Days Of Discovery has no biting policy and no disciplinary action whatsoever against children who…read morerepetitively bite scratch kick and hit other children. I sent my four-year-old and six-year-old here for a year. They continuously came home with bite marks and scratch marks from other four-year-olds. When I confronted the daycare director about the abuse my children were suffering, I was told that they have never kicked out a child for poor behavior, and if I didn't like it I could find alternative options. I will be looking into reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well as contacting whoever licensed them. My son went to help another child clean up a mess that she had made and got bit on the face. Other times random children have struck out against him for no reason. The teachers there are just as frustrated as I am, and they tell me that my son is a sweetheart. Unfortunately that means he's targeted by other children because he won't strike them back. Feel free to send your kids here, if you want them to come home bleeding and scared.

We moved to the area and had her enrolled in a different daycare waiting for her slot at Primrose to open and could not get her out of that short-term location fast enough. At Primrose, we get a daily report emailed to us about what they did that day, food served along with what amounts she ate, and diaper changes. At both drop off and pickup, our daughter smiles, waves, or hugs the staff - its obvious to us that she is well cared for and feels safe and comfortable there. The classroom divisions by age/development have been great. You don't have to worry about a cattle-like situation of a room full of 50 1-5 year olds. I personally prefer that this location is a locally owned franchise. The owner is there daily, and she has a stake in the success of the school. The other location was a corporate run daycare where top to bottom the staff seemed to be at a job they could take or leave. In the year we have been there we have seen little to no turn over and promotions within the current staff. This was important since the place she was before had a different person at pick-up every other day.

Greater Cincinnati has quite a few good public school systems but Lakota is one of the best…read more The rapidly growing system currently claims two high-schools (grades 10-12), a freshman building (all 9th graders), four junior highs (7 and 8), ten elementary schools (1-6), and four early childhood centers (pre-school and kindergarten). The district has grown largely since I was there but I have heard only good things about recent developments. I attended Freedom Elementary and Lakota Ridge Junior High for K-8. Freedom has consistently been ranked a "Blue Ribbon" school and I had some amazing teachers there that I am still actually in touch with. Lakota Ridge was great, too. I did not attend a Lakota high school because my parents felt that the schools were too large (over 3,000 students) but I have good friends that went K-12 in the district and are currently very successful college students. The current statistic in Lakota is that 90% of grads attend college, pretty impressive for such a large district. I got a great base education at Lakota and would highly recommend the district to any parent moving to Cincinnati.

i personally think that Lakota local schools is the worst school district in the entire state, the…read morekids have homework every day no mater if it is a week end or a school break. in the summer the kids have to read a minimal of 150 books (chapter books with a minimal of 200 pages.the teachers are very strict especially two fourth grade teachers named Mrs.Wilson and Mrs.landvater.
