Surprisingly amazing for a small school in the boonies. Campus is all inclusive on 1 lot so no crossing roads. Very walkable even though rather large b/c buildings are strategically arranged around a pond. They have tons of dorms on the outer rim of the property. Most buildings are newer or updated. Very clean everywhere. The auditorium is gigantic & newer. The cafeteria is huge & brand new w/ stations of every fare & lotsa variety. All the food was impressive & even a cook your own station. Facilities & grounds were great. Athletic center was better than I expected too. read more

Cedarville has really grown in the last four years. The engineering, medical, and business departments have great reputations with Columbus businesses, and graduates are truly prepared for challenging careers. Here are the main reasons you should consider going: Life Prep: For the most part, the leadership, faculty, and staff have a sincere hunger for God's word and a love for students. Most of the teachers have open-door policies and help students with homework. That is unheard of. Students eat at teacher's houses regularly. Dorm culture is healthy, fun, and helps new students make friends. Bible teaching is geared to train students for life after school- church membership, faithful careers, strong marriages, and personal walks with the Lord. We graduated with lifelong friends and great memories- while many of our classmates landed jobs with Fortune 500 companies or are working in full-time ministry. Fun: Cedarville is surrounded by state parks, and most of them are only 5-15 minutes away! Clifton Gorge, Glen Helen, and John Bryon are personal faves, while Indian Mounds has a great waterfall. The bike trails stretch from Cincinnati to Cleveland, because the old railroad was converted to a paved walking path. The gym, rock climbing wall, pickleball, tennis, and volleyball courts, are free to students. Endless rec leagues mean you meet a lot of cool people. Chapel: The President literally speaks in chapel every week. I never saw a president at any of my other college visits, so I think Cedarville has a unique transparency and accountability which is hard to find anywhere else. Chapel praise music has great lyrics and talent. Speakers are varied and have different backgrounds, but lately are all strong believers who focus on the Bible as the center of their messages. Philosophy, politics, and psychology are never the star of the show in chapel (but are taught well in class!) Some notes: -The leadership is hard-working, ambitious, and sincere, even with having many difficult decisions to make. -Some students struggle with the difficulty of their majors. That's college. -If your high school experience was poor, college won't be easy. -If you think you can get a better education/value at a state university, I doubt it. read more

This entire university is a scam. From the rude and nasty campus culture to the unprofessional, as well as overall poor teaching skills of the professors, this university is not worth anyone's time or money. They do not show respect towards anyone under the age of 25, whether they are paying for their own school or not. My husband and I both attended this university and transferred out due to the horrible attitude they have towards engaged and married couples. The campus life in the dorms is terrible and they label bullying and public shaming as "Christian accountability" when individuals are doing absolutely nothing wrong. Cedarville University is a small Christian university about 40 minutes east of Dayton, OH. There's not a whole lot around it, except corn fields and space. If you love Jesus and want to attend a university where you feel like you're home, then this well worth a look. My oldest son just finished his freshman year and loved it. I think he like it there more than home. Not sure if that's a good thing but it is a testament to how well the teachers and staff treat the students. I remember when we dropped him off last fall, his freshman year, and there were hundreds of current students lining the street waving, with signs, and they also helped us unpack him. There was Christian music playing in the Student Center. It was refreshing and I was happy that he chose Cedarville University. read more

When we started college searching with our daughters many years ago, Cedarville University was at the top of our list of about 20! Being a parent of a 2020 CU grad, it's now shocking and extremely sad to say that this was the worst "investment" we have ever made. Boy, were we fooled. Now that the masquerade has been unveiled, we would never send our daughter there- even for free. Cedarville University.... A mini series in the making: Corruption, hypocrisy, deception, lies. You fill in the blank. BEWARE! Leadership does not follow their own code of conduct or practice what they preach. Good people! The people make this place. Teachers teach well depending on the major just like any school. I believe that many people here struggle to see outside of personal bias. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, since it is a Christian University. And if that is what you want, then you'll receive a "Christian" education here! The people make this place, just like any other place. It is what you make it. And you will get out of it what you put into it. Very good opportunities to be involved if you et yourself out there. The location is not the best. Half hour drive to get anywhere to do anything. Not that great of a music scene either. Food is decent! They do offer a grill in the cafeteria where you can cook your own food. So that's a plus. Social life is good. Again. It is what you put into it Classes are honestly not that difficult. It truly depends on the major and class. I know nursing is incredibly hard, as well as engineering. That is what the school is known for. As far as the cult thing goes, I could see why some may call it that. I can also see why others may not. I don't really have an opinion on that comment. I would say a majority of the people at CU mean well. They really do care about others. People just view the world differently. That's what you're gonna get with a "Christian" University. I'll say this, during my time at the university, I had a friend who was removed from all leadership positions because he "came out." (He wasn't even caught "acting out" as some would refer to it as.) Also, I recieved a 13% on a paper I wrote about Christian's treatment of the LGBTQ community. So.... some might say they aren't very open to discussing certain topics. Which is unfortunate. Also, bummed that they are such huge supporters of organizations such as "Answers In Genesis." They spoke many times in chapel while I was there, and they gave me extra credit to go to the creation museum. I will say, all of these things I mentioned directly above have pushed me and countless others further away and hurt many of those that I love. Not to mention the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ you have to pay to go. Wouldn't send my kids there, but I can see why some may choose to do so. Just not my cup of tea. read more

If you say CU is a cult, you'd honestly be correct if you think Christianity is also a cult. I do not, so I do not agree. If humanism is your thing, please dont come here. I came to be in a Christian atmosphere, and it's what I got. I have loved my time here- I'll graduate in a couple months with a nursing degree, and my biggest gripe is the cost. Socially, the school is more conservative than the student body which I have found interesting. Theologically, I wish both the faculty and the student body were both a bit more reformed, but this has pushed me to examine what the Word says and to test the Truth for myself. The cafeteria is great (I love it, anyway). Chick-Fil-A is coming- should be interesting to see how that works as itll be open to the public. I compete in powerlifting, and the gym here was great for me to train in. The gym is casual enough for anybody to go enjoy themselves but serious enough for people like me to still have fun. read more

Speaking of biased, a Cult? Cedarville is a Christian university, not a cult! Being that I just graduated from a great four year university in California, I totally understand the biased part if one reviewer. I graduated from a non-Christian University, with so much bias and the liberal agenda was so rampant and hate was taught in those classes that I would've loved to go to Cedarville. I would love to get a more Biblical perpective of what the world is REALLY about and not hate of our country's history, hate of capitalism, and hate of whites. Cedarville is kindness, love, and appreciation of this country and I wish I could've had the opportunity to attend and graduate from here. My daughter is a transfer student from a very biased liberal community college, where Christianity and the Bible are hated and socialism is taught over capitalism. She can't wait to hear astronomy, astrology, physics, biology, and geology from a more natural perspective and not from the biased point of view of the socialistic agenda. read more

What a stellar education! The professors are all extremely knowledgeable and excellent at presenting. The acceptance rate to Medical School (40% above the national average) alone is enough to trust the quality of education. As for the "cult" thing.. not true. The rules that the university enforces are sensible, practical, and for the purpose of propagating the most excellent and academically honest education possible. 10/10. Would attend again. read more

I was recently accepted to this wonderful college as an adult, married transfer. I was searching Ohio for nursing schools with CCNE accreditation's. The Ohio list led me to many sites. I had looked at many schools and felt defeated. We are a conservative (as the Bible prefers we be) Christian family. I saw the schools website and YouTube videos and was immediately drawn to the Christian incorporated learning style! I love that the school is conservative as well. There are too many "progressive" schools now and although we are to love everyone I value the Bible's teachings. It has saved me a million times over. We do not come from a well to do family, and are modest in means. But this college has accepted us and I can't say enough great about it. If you are serious about Christ, this school is for you. If you are lukewarm you may have a harder time. But remember Christ is the way the truth and the life. And Christians are called to be set apart. And if you are not distinguishable, lay your burdens down at Christ's feet and repent of your sins a turn to a new life. You don't get credit for your family being Christian. This institution sucked the absolute life out of me. I was barely able to attend this college for a full year. The only positive aspect of it were some of the open-minded professors, but other fellow alumnus assured me that they were all fired in a recent "purge." Not surprising. Cedarville forces students to attend chapel services DAILY (and assures they do so by legalistically scanning their student I.D. cards. Yes, sadly I am serious.) In ADDITION to the daily chapel requirement, students are forced to "prove" to the powers-that-be by stating on a weekly form, in writing, that they have participated in at least three "spiritual formation activities," which include (but are not limited to), going to an approved church, "spiritual mentoring," and leading church youth groups. An adult student may not leave campus unless they prove they are staying at a household "decent" enough to have a legally-married, heterosexual couple living there. The Cedarville student must then provide names, addresses, and contact information of the proper "family" they will be staying with and must provide a reason (preferably Jesus-related), why they are staying there, and alternatively not within the confines of the campus. The vast (and I cannot emphasize the word VAST enough here) majority of students in attendance are white and upper-middle class, who generally have little-to-no variance of life experiences when compared to one another. Any innocent question or doubt about the concept of the religion Cedarville subscribes to deems whoever the asker is to be "tempted" by actual "Satan" himself. Exploring other mentalities is stiflingly discouraged, as there is an entire entry course that ensures students begin their adult lives (and their higher education) with the "correct" Christian worldview. So, attend this institution if you are 100% sure that you don't want to question anything you've ever been taught by your evangelical church, not if you want to expose yourself earnestly to other schools of thought and expand your worldview. read more

I loved my time at Cedarville! I came for the nursing program but I was also drawn to the campus for it's people. I immediately felt at home and everyone was so kind and welcoming. I loved all of the different opportunities to become involved and they did a really great job creating fun events on campus which was super appreciated since I didn't go anywhere as a freshman. You know what you're signing up for with the rules such as curfew and chapel every day, so it wasn't hard to adjust to. The nursing program was incredible! Even though I was nervous when I graduated, I was definitely more prepared than I thought I would be, and passed my NCLEX right away. Cedarville gave me the confidence to be a good nurse post graduation and gave me many fond memories! No school is perfect but if you pour into cedarcille and invest in the many different opportunities, you will get so much more than you expected out of it! read more

My daughter is a recent grad and was hired at a prestigious hospital as an RN in their cardiac step-down unit making enough to easily pay down her sizable college debt.
