Thanks to the quaint and girlie items on sale in the Milkwood Gallery, I can relax in the knowledge that I never need to panic when a friend's birthday is looming near.
Milkwood stock a range of pretty vintage (or vintage-style) bits and bobs, ranging from bunting, to notebooks, to bags. Their collection of charming postcards on the counter is always worth a mooch.
However, stars are falling like a Sunset Strippers song thanks to the gallery's flea market.
I haven't seen so much tatty, overpriced rubbish for a fair few years. The store-holders also had the bare-faced cheek of looking all lovely with sharp hair cuts in quirky colours, as if telling us that by buying their cast-offs we could ever look good and chic.
The atmosphere is such that you feel you have to hold items Oxfam would sniff at as if they were made of golden fabric. This makes for awkward moments when you discover the deodorant stains.
My advice is to avoid this, and make a day of exploring the Albany Road charity shops instead.
