I've probably been to Cosmic Groove 5 times over the past five years and for the most part have had pretty good experiences. I just went back this month for the first time in a few years and wasn't so impressed though. My two biggest issues were that my massage therapist had BO and so I could smell her body odor every time she was near my head. It was a little distracting and not so relaxing having that smell around me. The second issue was that when I filled out my paperwork before the massage and wrote that I prefered no touch below the waist down that day and after the massage therapist finished my shoulders and back, she immediately started massaging my legs. I don't understand, she either didn't read the paper when she was looking over it or she forgot what she had read. That being said, all of my other experiences with them were pretty great. The studio is nothing fancy but it is comfortable and inviting. All of my interactions there have been friendly and warm. I'll be back for sure, I just hope not to see the same therapist unless she showers first.

A couple days prior to my appointment, I received an email reminder from him, and a phone call reminder the day before. His practice is located in Suite 111 in a small professional plaza just off Main St. I had to call him in order to find it, but here are some tips for other new clients: once you park in the little lot and are facing the building, go towards the left by the stairs. Once you find Suite 111, enter the door and he's in the second room on the right. Justin is very professional and friendly. I filled out a brief history form and he asked if I wanted the full body massage or more focused on back/neck/shoulders. I opted for the latter since I know how tight those areas are for me. He started out more gentle, but I have pretty high tolerance to pain so I asked him to increase the pressure, which he did. It was still relaxing, but I could definitely feel where the tightness and knots were once he increase the pressure. There were some places I wasn't aware of before! :P At the end, he offered me water and we sat down for a friendly chat, and he gave me some tips for paying attention to my tight shoulders when using the computer. *checking right now...* I highly recommend seeing Justin for your massage therapy needs! She reviewed her plan for my time with her and then left the room so I could get situated. When my massage started she focused on my problem areas of neck & shoulders. She took great care to work out a lot of stress I carry there. The rest of the massage was also great and I could have fallen asleep. I'm very happy with the service and availability so I can get in after a work day. I was also offered a first time discount at check out I wasn't aware of. It was a nice surprise! Brian is special though. I'm a baker and a waitress and I tend to wear my shoulders as earrings after a long work week. In our first session, Brian knew right away which spots to focus on and how to ask my jaw to relax. He has a quiet intuitive nature and spends time just listening to my aches and pains. He talks with my muscles and they seem to acquiesce willingly. I don't feel bruised and beaten when he's finished but relaxed and grounded. Some body workers try to force the muscles into submission but not Brian. He has a strong but gentle hand causing the knots to fade away peacefully and the muscles to slip easily back into their assigned positions. I'm a single mom with a small discretionary budget. Usually I'd prefer to spend that money on a movie with my kid or having cocktails with friends. Fluid Massage is so totally worth sacrificing those things. Brian is both therapist and body worker and it's obvious that he cares a great deal and has taken the time to really hone his craft. Frankly, I think he's pretty amazing.

Brian is a unique combination of talent, experience, knowledge and passion. I started seeing Brian in Redwood City, California. Later he began coming to my home for private sessions with me and my daughters, who are semi-competitive gymnasts. His work assisted me in getting through the most stressful time of my life (involving the construction industry, insurance industry, legal and judicial industries, so you can only imagine). He has been a wonderful influence on my daughters, both physically and spiritually. After Brian moved to Hawaii, the girls and I were fortunate to schedule appointments with him during our Christmas Vacation.
