On a perfect site next to a Premier Inn is this wonderful eaterie and bar. We booked by telephone…read moreand arrived a little early but this gave us time for a drink or two before the meal. Plenty of comfy places to sit and drink and bar service friendly, professional, and quick. Having finished drinks we were shown to our table. Nicely laid out and, immediately, our waitress arrived to take an order for drinks and a bottle of wine to cool down prior to the meal. After a while our waitress returned and took our order for food. The plates of food that arrived were exceptional especially the shared, baked Camembert. Truly delicious. The whole evening spent in this establishment was brilliant. Service was second to none.

It was getting quite late in the evening and everything appeared to close at 22:30. A broad gent appeared and guided us to a table. The decor was lovely, with old exposed beams and brickwork, vintage paintings, a fireplace and solid wooden tables. The menu itself was pub grub at its finest. We were quite ravenous so we opted for the three courses for £24.99. Between us we ordered the garlic prawns , scallops and flat bread, two prime steaks and to finish a carrot cheesecake and chocolate brownie. The prawns/scallops were large but not numerous. The garlic and herbs were flavoursome though. I had requested my steak medium rare. The quality of the meat was good but it was a little overdone for me..with hindsight I should have ordered it rare. The peppercorn and brandy sauce had a good kick to it , it did over power the steak so I dipped my chips In it. The carrot cheesecake was very stodgy but had that nice nostalgic homemade feel about it. Overall a very lovely traditional pub, the gent that served us was as attentive despite being rushed off his feet and the food good.
