Awesome products (and soft) -if you're buying a month ahead for when you'd gift or use its acceptable but most want a product within 5-7 business days of ordering. The company added a note on the site to say shipping is two weeks behind (not when I ordered just recently, but discover when I went bk to the site to see why my order hasn't even shipped yet) A big bummer for Michigan holiday season. This was my second order from them since November (Novembers order took 3 weeks to arrive) Too Slow for anymore money spent with the Mitten State til they can get it figured out. We ordered two Detroit Lions sweatshirts back in November. The XXL sweatshirt was way too big. I went through the process for the exchange and returned the item. I finally received a confirmation that the item had been received on December 10th. It is now December 21st and no shipping notification has been sent. I live 20-minutes away from the business, so there is no way it should take this long. The item won't arrive on time for Christmas. Very disappointed! read more

Tried reaching out a few times to understand if items would arrive on time and no response. Plan on calling my credit card company tomorrow to dispute the charges. Just a horrid horrid run business. I place an online order for a hoodie and pay $11 something for shipping, takes forever to get here and in in mid Michigan. Ridiculous. Then they sent me completely wrong item. When inquired about their error via email as YOU CANT CALL THEM, they sent me a label to return which is fine but I was so disappointed with their service I cancelled what I originally ordered. They said they won't issue a credit til they got their wrong item back. What? I sent next day and they can track! Issue the credit. Nope. Took over 3 weeks to get credit. A big high five for The Mitten State Store! I've been seeing The Mitten State's cute, cartoony mitten logo around town for awhile and I'm happy to have a place nearby where I can purchase their goods. They have a plethora of men, women, and kids t-shirts with the logo, as well as t-shirts and gifts with catchy slogans and funny Michigan themes. The long narrow store provides plenty of space for them to grow and serves as an attractive backdrop to display things. When I dropped in on my first visit, I purchased two different bumper stickers for a friend who recently moved out of state. The Mitten Store was exactly the place to find a gift to send some MI love! read more

I wanted to buy a gift for my brother since we both grew up in Michigan. I came across this site and they had a pretty unique T-shirt referencing a card game we used to play called euchre. The shirt arrived today what a total rip off. The actual shirt material was so thin you could read a newspaper through it. $29.99 for an inferior quality shirt is shameful. Greed... Walmart shirts are of better quality and I would never buy one. Live and learn. read more

The Mitten State (TMS) is a local company that makes fun Michigan-themed apparel, accessories, and gifts. You may have seen bumper stickers or keychains around town with the outline of the state of Michigan that looks like a mitten - that's from TMS. I don't even remember how I first learned about them, but over the past several years living in Grand Rapids I've bought many shirts from the store. Their new storefront on Bridge Street by Knickerbocker is great and they sometimes have in-store only deals (follow their social media for the scoop). They have an equal amount of MSU / UofM apparel so you can get ready for the big rivalry game! They also have fun shirts with Michigan themes, like "I never pass on a bower," a few that relate to beautiful state parks in Michigan, and one that reads, "Hands off my pasty, eh?" which probably doesn't make any sense to someone not from the area. The shirts are incredibly soft and range from $30 for a t-shirt to $55 for some of the hooded sweatshirts. Not exactly cheap, but I love to support local stores like The Mitten State. Definitely check it out if you need a Michigan-themed gift. read more

My wife planned a gender reveal party for Saturday, May 20th. She wanted me to find a shirt that said "Go Blue" since she was wearing "Go Pink". It helped that I am a UofM Alum and fan... I ordered from The Mitten State on May 10th, feeling as if a light weight product shipping from Grand Rapids, MI to San Antonio, TX would not take longer than 10 calendar days. I would have even opted into expedited shipping if the option were available. Luckily, the order arrived on the tenth day, the morning of the party. Unfortunately, The Mitten State shipped the wrong product altogether. (Shipped a maize M shirt.) Now, I am out of luck to get anything to match my wife. Under normal circumstances, no big deal. But today was Important to my wife. The Mitten State dropped the ball. 35 dollars for one t shirt with a ten day lead time plus wrong order placement = one unhappy customer. If you're looking for efficiency, do not order from The Mitten State. You will pay top dollar for poorly ran operations and logistics. Better served supporting an individual on Etsy with lower demand, and greater appreciation for their customers. Don't order here. Joe read more

Grand Rapids' Eastown neighborhood is going local with the Mitten State's new shop (1502 Wealthy St. SE) across the street from YesterDog. From a few kiosks in the mall to an online presence, The Mitten State is beefing up their brand with a physical location. This place looked awesome from the window so I had to check it out. Lots of cool T-shirt designs about Michigan, Detroit, colleges, etc. Designs I have never seen before too - which is a nice change of pace. My only complaint would be the sizes. I was browsing the "clearance" section which the sales associate said was all women's clothing because they were changing their women's line. A women's XL is a little bit smaller than the unisex shirt. WHAT? I started to look and sure enough all the women's shirts looked like girl's medium. Nothing for in the 2XL for men either. read more

I have emailed their customer service to see what the holdup is but no response.
