Just pulled in and the first thing we saw were all the confederate flags flying. Turned around and left.

I remember way back in the day (okay, it was only a few years ago) when Busy Bea was actually worth…read moregoing to. It was a flea market where you knew the traffic was going to be good, rain or shine- though especially during the rain, because that would drive all the traffic over from Reits- and you never knew what you were going to find, because a high flow of people buying things at a flea market usually meant two things as far as I was concerned- 1) racing to the used books in hopes they hadn't already been picked over, and 2) new stuff would show up to replace the old. These days, well... it's a vague shadow of its former self. It's more of a "set your stuff up and leave it to gather dust in the vague hope that someone can tell the place is still open and actually wants to go in to look around" kind of place. You're not going to find people willing to haggle, or even the nice restaurant you could hit if you wanted a quick bite (it's been bought out and turned into a mexican place). So how does it work now? You go in, you get a cart. You walk around and find things to buy- most of it the same junk from the last time you went there, as there's not that much in inventory turnover any more- and you bring the cart up to the front counter to pay for your stuff and go. No haggling, no talking- it reminds me of a Goodwill with an attached Taco Bell instead of a flea market these days. I haven't been in to try the restaurant, though. This isn't a place to bring young children- there are breakables aplenty at heights a child could easily reach and grab stuff like ceramic statues, mugs, glassware to drop and break, and not to mention displays full of the same they could crash into while running around. I miss the old Busy Bea Flea Mall- but I suspect the only way this place stays in business is that it's open during the winter while Reits has to shut down from October through mid-May due to the weather. If Reits had any sense, they'd buy this place out and run it the way it's supposed to be run. If you want to go flea-marketing and Reits is open, go there. If you don't have any other option, go here. Just prepare for seeing the same stuff over and over, week after week...

Came in from out of town under the impression that they were open. Sign outside of the market says…read more"Open 8 to 8 every day. year round." Alas, on this Wednesday at 4pm, they looked very much so closed.
