Wow, I can't believe it's been over 6 years! I met Sandy at her original location back when my nephew use to attend Modern PlaySpace. Fast forward to today, now my son attends Modern PlaySpace at the new location! Sandy has not changed, always so warm and friendly. All the new teachers I've met are just as amazing. Modern PlaySpace is always so clean and organized. When you walk in, it's so inviting with all the toys and colors. There's so many fun activities for the kids. My son is within autism spectrum and at Modern PlaySpace all the activities are so supportive of his needs. They do lots of sensory friendly activities and the kids practice living skills. Not to mention we have been accommodated with having my son's therapist arriving to give him his session there. All of my son's therapists love it at Modern PlaySpace too. We're honestly so grateful to be at Modern PlaySpace working with Sandy and all the teachers. Never in all my years have I ever felt pressured in any way. The staff are all familiar with behavioral interventions, integrate occupational therapy into activities, and update us daily on their activities and our son's development through an app with photos and comprehensive summaries of his participation and things they're working on with our son specifically. It's only been a few months of her attending once a week but she's made friends, built her confidence and is thriving in their preschool structure. We are so grateful to Sandy, Karen, Des, Jade and the rest of the MPS team for providing such a happy, creative, and stimulating environment for our son during his weekly playgroup sessions. Sandy and her team are so upbeat, friendly, and are great communicators - by text, through the app, and at pickup/dropoff - so I always feel plugged into how my son spent his day and how it went. They are so excited to see him each week and take such care to get to know him as an individual and offer us tips to help him meet his developmental milestones. They are incredibly intentional about the daily activities, from circle time, to free play, the sensory table, gross motor time, and arts and crafts. The team at Modern PlaySpace is the most nurturing and loving bunch! My son has a hard time leaving mommy's side but I know he's in good hands when I bring him here. Throughout the day, I can stay in close contact with the director via text/phone, and we also get an update around noontime via an app with photos and a blurb about activities they're doing. We often get to see and take home art projects they've made that day. The kids get to sing and dance, talk about the calendar, and get exposure to lots of new vocabulary. Kiddos also play alongside peers and learn new routines/expectations, like eating lunch together and waiting in line patiently to wash hands. Congratulations on your new location! We love MPS! My son was introduced to MPS by GGRC for his speech delay. And within a short amount of time, we have noticed a great difference in his speech and vocabulary, as well as his interaction with other kids. He would come back home in a good mood, singing/humming a new song or reciting the alphabet. All of the teachers are so friendly and patient. The teacher/student ratio is great and allows all of the kids to get proper care and attention. Sandy is very kind, communicative, accommodating and responsible. You can really tell that they care for all of their kiddos. They use Seesaw to send photos and updates for the day. And the place is clean, spacious and inviting. Modern PlaySpace is absolutely phenomenal! I truly believe this is a place where young children can further their development, grow, and thrive. My 3-year old attends their playgroup sessions, and it's definitely something he looks forward to every week. A few things I absolutely love so far: - Dedicated and caring staff / teachers - the level of commitment by Sandy and her team is unreal! Nothing feels better than knowing your child is well cared for while you're away, and the staff here engages so well with the kids and makes them feel special and loved. They are always so accommodating and willing to work with me to make sure my kid is fully supported, whether it's working with GGRC, getting additional resources / support for speech, working around my tough schedule, etc. They are truly invested in all their kids! - Curriculum - they put a lot of thought into all the activities they do for kids! My son always comes back with art projects, new songs and dance moves, newly learned vocab, and stories about fun things he did with the teachers. His speech has definitely improved since attending the playgroups, so I know their activities are super thoughtfully designed and curated to support the kids' development! - Communication - I'm always "in the know" of what's going on during the day, whether it's through texting with the teachers or updates via their app. There's so much transparency and dialogue with the teachers around not just what my kid did during the day, but also how he's doing overall in regards to his developmental milestones. Sandy and the rest of the teachers welcomed our son with open arms and created a safe space for him to learn and grow in his language. Over the last year+ I've watched our son become more confident and be able to express himself through words. Sandy who runs the Modern PlaySpace is a cheerful person and tries hard to make the space accessible to all kids. However, we later learned she is also associated with SFUSD and evaluates kids on the autism spectrum. This information was new to us and we happen to learn from other sources and was never available to us when we enrolled. What was most frustrating that we were often coaxed by Sandy during pick up and drop off to get our kiddo evaluate through her for autism for additional costs. We were dumbfounded that she wants to assess and evaluate our 3- year old for autism at Modern PlaySpace when/if required we could do the same with qualified doctors. This constant coaxing was unnecessary and putting pressure on parents that our kids need to be evaluated immediately for additional cost is also unacceptable. Also, all 5-star reviews of any business often make me question the authenticity of the reviews. I have been at the receiving end of such businesses in the past. Feedback for Sandy: Don't constantly suggest parents that they need to evaluate their children for autism. You can recommend. Plus, consider spending time with the children as most days you are not onsite. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about the Modern PlaySpace! We were connected with Sandy and her staff to receive help for my 1 1/2 year son who has a speech delay. From the get-go they were amazing! Sandy reached out to us first and even provided us with detailed photos explaining how to park and where to bring our son for his first day. When my son cried on his first day Sandy and staff were very caring and attentive and sent us photos and messages throughout the day showing his gradual improvement from a crying kid to a happy one! They have lots of fun games and activities guaranteed to keep your child's mind stimulated and having plain fun. I'm super envious of all the awesome stuff the kiddos have laid out for them and sometimes find myself wishing i could somehow magically transform into a kid so i can enjoy it too. I really appreciate and thankful that my son had the chance to work with Sandy at MPS. We were introduced to Sandy via zoom to help with my son's delayed speech during the start of Pandemic. Sandy was really accommodating to the day and time availabilities we have. The classes on zoom was fun and engaging, my son really enjoys it. When the Pandemic eases up a little, we have the chance to go to MPS in person, and it was a blast for my son. He always look forward to go every week.
