We were sufficiently impressed and the kid liked it, so we applied. The application fee was $500. There was supposed to be class visits for student applicants in February-March 2025 to see if they were a good fit and if the child liked the environment. We were never contacted for a visit. In fact, we were never contacted about anything at all. I am writing this review in May 2025 and we never received notification that she had been accepted or not. Clearly, she had not, and we have moved on so that is fine. But aren't we at least owed an answer for our $500? My wife wrote to inquire and was told that a post card acknowledging the application was sent in October 2024. Ok, fine. But what about after October 2024? My wife was told the file was incomplete. Ok, if that is the case, why were we not notified? We sent all required materials so we we were unaware that the file was incomplete. But that still raises the question why the admissions director at WRM did not follow up and notify us that certain materials were missing (apparently lost by their side)? I cannot speak to the pedagogy at WRM. It may be very good. But the admission process leaves much to be desired. The two stars are for an unwillingness to follow up or to notify us of their decision. I guess we were just to supposed to figure out that no news meant rejection. As I said, that is fine because we found an alternative school and accepted its offer. But WRM needs to get its admission process corrected. We don't think it is right to take money and then never respond with an answer.

Background info: my child currently attends a montessori in California and judging from the website I thought this school would be a pretty amazing fit. I saw there were only 3 spots left and I wasn't sure if it were for the current year or for the start of the next school year so I called and left a voicemail to learn more information. I received a call at 8am PST (a few minutes ago). Instead of introducing herself, and the school. She just stated "what do you want to know?" We'll generally ma'm all of the information that one would need to know when a parent is excited (was excited) for their child to possibly attend this school of course . I mentioned the word "tuition" and was cut off immediately with a boisterous "it's fifteen thousand dollars". Ok, I saw that part posted online, what I wanted clarity as to know things like the tuition scheduling breakdown for payments over the course of the year...but according to her I'm assuming its a lump sum payment. And since I was cut off I'm assuming the admission fees, supply fees and any other fees are just thrown in the abyss of fees without a breakdown. Her next question was followed by what grade and I mentioned LOWER ELEMENTARY. She then proceeded to ask me if my child were in school...well of course, yes my child is in school. I was then asked if I we're familiar with Montessori education... yes I am (one should draw the conclusion that if I mention that my child is in LOWER ELEMENTARY that would most likely mean that my child is already enrolled in a Montessori). I was then asked what grade my child were in. I mentioned technically it would be 1st grade (for a public education). I was then asked if my child started school...of course, yes. She then proceeded to say, "so he would be in 2nd grade next year?" this seemed like a trick question to check my knowledge of the Montessori method, or to see if I knew what number came after 1 . I felt unnecessarily grilled. The representative seemed bothered that she had to call me back and stated that I could go online "as theres a ton of information on there". I informed her that we were moving from CA, and I wanted to be on top of things since the schools website mentioned there were only three spots left and I didn't want to miss out. She mentioned nothing else really, just when did I expect to move and I mentioned for the fall... I was told to schedule an appointment online. Ok, It would make absolutely zero sense for me to schedule a visit to a school that doesn't have any openings for the intended school year while I still live in CA. What is so wrong with wanting a seamless transition? I would also like to mention that the school's website invites parents to call for more information (which I did). I didn't like her tone, it was snarky. How dare I call White Rock Montessori to learn more information (only to be redirected back to the site that could not answer my question which still went unanswered on the phone call). The schools online presence does not match with the attitude of school personnel, and the way the representative came off was as if this were an exclusive boarding school for uber wealthy investors in the UAE.

When he started, he was very sad and hated to leave us, but after about a week he was happy to go to school, hugged the teachers, and didn't want to leave. The administration is also awesome! Unfortunately, we moved back to Virginia. We wish we could have brought the school with us. It is definitely our favorite thing about Dallas.

Looking back on our experience, there is absolutely no question in my mind that the 2+ years we spent with St. Christopher's were the best for not only our boys (now 5- & 6-years old), but our whole family. From the smart, personable, and observant teachers, to the diverse (international!) feel of the community, to the bright & welcoming atmosphere created by Becky and the front desk staff, St. Christopher's truly raised the bar for our expectations of a school & faculty. Prior to finding St. Christopher's, our boys had attended both Montessori and non-Montessori schools in the White Rock Lake/Lake Highlands areas, and they've attended 3 other schools (1 Montessori, 1 public, and 1 private) in Dallas & Rowlett since. Being a part of so many different schools (not all of which were bad, by the way!) has taught us to appreciate the "small" things (hygiene!, front desk friendliness, student diversity, parental involvement) as well as the "big" things (safety/security, curriculum, communication, caring & nurturing atmosphere). St. Christopher's gave us all of those things and then some. As parents, we always felt welcome, and we rested assured knowing that our children were being exposed to cool neat things (languages, art, etc.) and ideas by people who cared about them & their respective development (our boys are pretty different from one another!). When my wife & I finally settled down in Rowlett (20 miles east of Dallas), our biggest regret was that we'd have to leave St. Christopher's - and even then, we made the daily 2-hour commute until we couldn't take it anymore. If you have the opportunity to send your kids here, I truly can't recommend it highly enough. It's the best, most nurturing and inspiring school we came across. They forewarn you that it may seem they aren't learning anything but it will show in a couple of years. That is crap. My daughter really wasn't learning anything because all she wanted to do was play & that's what they let her do all day. She was at another Montessori & learned more there in 3 mths then what she learned at MCHS in a year. I raised concerns with the guide like the director told us to & instead of trying to resolve the issue she just hated me & basically refused to talk to me. On 3 occasions I left messages for her to call me directly & she would say the answer to the secretary & that secretary would call me back, this became extremely frustrating when I had follow up questions. The director never believed how rude or callous her teacher was so I took a recorder to one of the parent teacher conferences to prove to her how she acted. As soon as it was my turn to go in she walked out her class to go get the director. The guide only said maybe 3 words while the director talked the rest of the time & answered questions I directed towards the guide. There was zero communication between myself and the teacher. I also had concerns about her coming home looking like she rolled around in a mud pit. Her pants and shoes had chunks of mud on them. MCHS never did anything about it. The guide dismissed us and the director just said that's how kids are. I spoke with at least 2 other parents who also had the same concern about the dirtiness. Yes kids can get messy but there is a line & adults should "guide" them to not get so dirty. They show you how some kids are solving complex math problems & other advanced projects but I guess it's only for their favorites because I never saw my daughter or anyone in her class do any of that. Also, her teacher told me that my daughter doesn't want to learn! I was shocked to hear such nonsense! Never ever has my daughter not wanted to learn! She is quite the opposite & all of her previous 4 teachers in other schools & current teachers can attest to that. They always are Surprised at how quickly & how much she wants to learn, even her Arabic teacher at DIS wants to put her in advanced classes. One time my mom sat in class to observe & she observed 2 kids pushing a little girl outside & locking her out. It took several minutes for the teacher to figure this out & my mom wasn't allowed to talk or "interfere" (as the guide said). When they finally brought the parents in to discuss what occurred they basically ushered them away from my mom when she greeted them. We knew those parents & finally told them the true story of what occurred (MCHS gave another version). I almost forgot my favorite complaint. My daughter was still perfecting her potty skills & one time she peed on herself & went to the bathroom to change. She couldn't get her pants off & was too shy to ask for help & she fell asleep on the bathroom floor for 10-15 minutes until the teacher finally checked in on her! I was so infuriated! What if she had fallen & busted her head open?! She would have bled out before they found her. Several times I picked her up with her pants soaked from urine. She has a change of clothes there & that witch just let her be wet in a 60 degree environment. My daughter had some of the worst rashes & colds because of this callous treatment. I would have been better off leaving her with a pack of monkeys than these guides. (At least the monkeys would lick her but clean!) It seems like they are just watching over the class but not really taking care of them or teaching them. I can't remember the teachers name. She's an older puerto rican lady. My daughter was at Garland Montessori where she learned a lot but the owner seemed too creepy for me. Now she is at Spanish House & we both love it. She learns sooo much! They have a Montessori way of teaching but with more guidance than MCHS (where the kids do whatever they want). I actually went to Spanish House last May & begged for a spot--i was 3rd on the waiting list. I told the director about the terrible problems we have at MCHS & she called me 2 hours later to tell me she gave my baby a spot so she won't continue to suffer at MCHS. Can I tell u I was sooo relieved & elated that I cried! SH has been the best move ever. She had attended their summer session previously & loved her teachers. The owners are this wonderful, sweet couple that also has their kids in their school. Now my daughter loves school. That being said, there are numerous parents that are happy with that MCHS but my experience was horrific. I would never recommend MCHS but others do. I'm just one untold experience. If she wasn't in SH I would put her in Dallas International School, that's where she takes her Arabic class & the teachers & staff I have interacted with are awesome.

I used to work for The Community School of the Park Cities, and I witnessed three Lead Teachers…read moremistreating the babies & toddlers every day. They leaned all their weight against the babies when washing their faces in the sink (which can injure their organs), lifted them by one arm (which can dislocate their shoulder), grabbed them aggressively, shoved food in their mouths aggressively, made them stay in their cribs for several hours, yelled at them for wanting to get up or for crying, swaddled them when that's against the law in daycare, and spent a lot of time texting & talking on their phones instead of watching the babies. The Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room was very impatient & squeezed their shoulders when they didn't obey, instead of using redirection. I explained these things to the director, but she said, "It's going to be a lot of work to replace those teachers." I later asked her what she was going to do about the incidents & she said her lawyer told her not to talk to me about it, so I reported the incidents to Child Care Licensing. They visited the school, but weren't able to do anything because I didn't have pictures or videos. I asked the director to install cameras, but she said no. Something must be done to bring awareness to the parents. Those lead teachers are still there & the director doesn't want to make the effort to replace them.

I can't say enough good things about the staff and program at SWS. The school itself is Spanish immersion. This means NO English. Our pre-k kiddo is fluent in Spanish and even has a slight accent! Every teacher we have encountered is loving and provides a great balance of an educator and someone looking after them while they are on campus. The administration is also great. That is not to say they do not have their fair share of challenges or issues but they always work through it and do their best to make it right. As parents and customers of the school, we have to be understanding that during the pandemic everyone is doing their best and there will be things that get missed. The key is the safety and security of our kids during the day and that cannot be beat with SWS. I highly recommend them if you are looking for an immersion program in the Dallas area. During Covid, the schools took on the responsibility of ensuring all safety protocols were followed that were outlined by the state. But beyond that, they took it upon themselves to involve the parents and get a committee going to enhance the state protocols. Doctors, virologists, etc. formed that board and provided guidelines for the school as well as administration of weekly testing for the staff. We just restarted our kiddos back this past January and could not be happier. We are not allowed in the school but Drop-off and pickup are handled so well that I often times arrive and just based on knowing my car, our kids are sent down for pickup.
