We were not allowed to visit him, allegedly because of Covid-19. ( I say allegedly, because we have since transferred him to Via Christi St. Francis, where he is allowed to have one visitor throughout his stay. I'm now inclined to think that St. Anthony's doesn't care to have annoying family members interfering with their program of criminal-level patient neglect.) Anyway, we never received any communication initiated by staff. No one called to update us on dad's condition, no one called to discuss his medication changes. We called daily or more to ask for updates from the nurse's desk and to attempt to talk to my father. The first few days were OK. We received updates from the nurse and then my dad was given the phone and allowed to speak with us. But 4 or 5 days in, we started being told that he was too tired to speak with us, or he was napping. At first, I assumed this was because they asked us to call between 1 and 4 pm, or because he was having some medication side effects that were making him sleepy. Then they started telling us that he was being treated for a UTI, and they suspected that the infection was making him tired. After a few days of this, we became very concerned. At this point, the nurse casually mentioned that dad had been running a fever for 3 days - again, no one had called to let us know this, or even mentioned it during our daily calls for updates. Yesterday, I called and spoke to the social worker, Jesse, and asked him to please check on my dad and let me know how he was doing. Jesse said that he would call me back after the patient care meeting that afternoon and tell me what he had learned, but he never called me back. Today, I called to speak to my dad and was again told that he was resting. I said that we wanted my dad transferred to a medical hospital. After a lot of jumping through hoops, he was transferred to St. Francis. Thank god! This just happened this evening. He was immediately admitted to ICU with acute kidney failure (he has never had a kidney problem in his life.) His creatinine level is 6, and if you know anything about kidneys, you know that this is severe. The St. Anthony staff basically allowed my dad to lie in his room, dying of kidney failure, in a near comatose state, while telling us that he was "too tired" to talk. I don't know what has caused this first-ever bout of kidney failure in a very healthy (except for dementia) 87-year-old man, but obviously I suspect over-drugging. For God's sake, don't put your loved one in the care of these people.

This hospital is payed by property tax dollars but refuses to see many of its local citizens…read more Claiming there medical history is to complex. They've done that to lots of us. But next years they will insist on more tax dollars to make up for there short commings. The CEO Daddy is the county Commissioner. So they seem to get all the tax dollars for a failing hospital they want. They also prevent citizens from going to open board meetings that could hurt there agenda. I have all my letters from them.

Brook was both professional and warm and friendly. She gave me excellent tools to deal with the…read moreproblems I was having. I started seeing her about one problem, and then two other traumatic things occurred in my life. She continued to support me and we had very helpful, calming sessions that brought me back to my normal base. She was very insightful, and didn't overreact to my state of mind, while still taking me very seriously. She didn't try to stretch out the sessions, either. Although she was willing to have more sessions, if I wanted them, we both felt that I was in a good place and had a good handle on things, and had learned some very helpful ways of looking at situations and my emotional reaction and thoughts about them. I highly recommend Brook as a psychotherapist, and would not hesitate to use her services again, if I need to.

I am not a patient of Brook's, but I have referred many patients to her. I repeatedly hear from my…read morepatients how thankful they are that I referred them to Brook. She is a straight-shooter, and she's real. She wants to help people, and sitting in a chair across the room "listening" while the time ticks by is not her style. If you want someone who is kind, honest, and driven to help you get well and be your best self then I highly recommend her.
