E. Lauro is a blast from the past in terms of shops. It looks like a pawn shop because of all the…read morerandom (really random) little trinkets and items strewn across the window. It is in fact, a jewelers. It's just an explosion of gold jewelry, watches, little boxes and various antiques which is a lot for the eye to take in. From venturing into this 2nd hand shop I can only assume that they will buy absolutely anything, anyone's selling. It's run by a strange looking man who just smiles as you walk in. It's quite small so you always feel like he's looking at you as you wonder round trying to find a little hidden gem among the mass of items spread out over 4 glass counters. If you're in the mood for a hunt around for something unusual then this is the place to go.

I like this one as it is big and imposing and bang in the middle of town. The jewelry that gets pawned isn't the greatest but they do have a nice selection of big tv's that people have needed to trade in for cold hard cash. Upstairs is also home to an awesome collection of acoustic and electric guitars. Lining the walls you can pay anything from £60 to £300 for a decent looking axe. They also have games, computers, exercise bikes and drum kits! A good place to pick up an unwanted gift or to shed one at that matter! I like to browse in here but I have never purchased, maybe if my guitar skills improve I could pick up a little beginners model in here.

It's like Dickinson's Real Deal but instead of bringing in Chess sets worth hundreds of pounds, you are bringing in the old Fifa X box game and hoping for a fiver. It's handy money for tat you don't really need or want anymore, but it seems a bit like a Charity shop that keeps the money for themselves. Most of the stuff in here you probably won't ever buy, just like a Charity shop. But the only difference is that if you need any persuasion in a charity shop, your money is going to help prevent breast cancer or go to starving children. Here, it goes to people that live a few doors away from you. And they have a big television. I think the idea of a shop like this is good, especially during a recession where everyone needs a bit of extra cash. But the shop itself looks poor and could do with a bit of a refit to make it more modern and more appealing. I know people that come here and sell as much as they can, and then come out with some book someone once wrote for half the price. That is marginally pointless because you are replacing junk with more junk. Yes the shop is a good idea, but if you are desperate to make £2 for selling a box of old cds, why not give it to a charity shop where the money will go to something good? It seems a bit too much of a black market thing to me and I'm not particularly comfortable in it.

Money Generators is a shop which deals in what I can only assume is peoples misery. If you can't…read morewait the three days to have you cheque cashed or have some family jewellery that you just want to melt down and take your cash away to spend on a new TV. I'm being a little to mean on these guys. I'm sure people do need these stores from time to time but personally, I just can get away from the stigma around them. On this particular store, the inside just looks quite strange. In the corner, they appear to be selling random power tools and domestic cleaning products and there's a desk with two chairs right in the middle of the room. Sitting in that chair I'd imagine is quite similar to sitting in front of the head master in his office at school.
