This is a funky breakfast/lunch joint just a block from our hotel. Bandmates and I needed a proper mountain breakfast - and this was the perfect place for it. A sign outside the door says, "If you're in a hurry, go to the deli down the street." We'd been forewarned! Servers were fast, friendly, and checked in regularly. Drinks were served promptly - then we waited. It took easily 20 minutes to get our plates served (but, we'd been forewarned!). Food was absolutely delicious. Fresh, hot, tasty. I loved that I could get cottage cheese & tomatoes with my meal instead of hash browns & toast - great option (I'm still on the slow-carb diet, and it continues to work for me!). Definite go to. An above average Rocky Mountain restaurant. I visited Moose Cafe on Independence Day for breakfast, en route to Green Mountain Reservoir for a weekend camping trip. I experienced prompt, friendly service and a great breakfast meal of biscuits and white gravy (they also have sausage gravy), bacon and eggs, and hash browns. Everything was delicious and the dining area and restrooms were clean. Highly recommended. Kremmling is a great mountain town with tons of outdoor activities in and around town. read more

We were there during lunch, and the one server and one cook handled us all as quickly as they could. Try their home-made green chili. This is your basic greasy spoon Cafe. We stopped here for breakfast on our way from Steamboat to Denver. The staff were friendly. The food is a little slow, and we had to ask for our check because it had been awhile since we had seen our server. A few things that we ordered weren't delivered so we had to remind out server to bring them. The food tasted good. We had the basics, hash browns, refried beans, red chili and bacon. FYI on ordering the chili. They have a green chili and a red chili on the menu. I ordered the red chili and was a little surprised when a basic bean and meat chili arrived. This place has improved since my last visit a year ago. Last year I ordered pancakes for breakfast and they were not cooked in the middle. Still doughy. I asked to have another pancake brought out and they said the griddle didn't have room on it since they had switched over for lunch. They argued with me on whether the pancake was cooked or not too. It was an unpleasant dining experience that I would have given 1 star. Fast forward to today for breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. I never got the name or our waitress that I remember but she was friendly and accommodating. I saw what looked to be a burnt pancake go by my table and decided that they still don't know how to make pancakes. Buyer beware. (The pancake was a very dark brown on one side and light brown on the the other like a crescent moon. They should be cooked to a light golden color in my opinion...) I had the breakfast burrito special which came with bacon, chorizo and ham, covered in green chili. It was good. In Kremmling there are but few choices. Just okay. I have no complaints, in fact the restaurant was clean, the service was friendly and the food came out in a very timely fashion. It's just that the food we ordered was very basic and humdrum for my tastes. I love French fries and the fries here tasted very strange - no salt and overly processed. Bummer. Everyone should have Breakfast at The Moose Cafe at least once before they die. The food is tasty, wholesome and substancial to get you through a high altitude day in the boonies. Friendly and folksy staff. Lots of local color where everyone knows each other. I grew up in Kremmling where time has unpretentiously stood still and The Moose Cafe is in harmony with that. My dad and I stopped here for our last big meal before heading into the mountains for hunting trip, and it did not disappoint. I got the hot beef sandwich. It was a pile of thinly cut beef next to an even bigger pile of real mashed potatoes, all smothered in delicious gravy. It was really good and I was stuffed. Not sure the name of what my dad got but it was 3 eggs, toast, hash browns, and a giant piece of ham that covered the whole plate. He also raved about how good it was. There are few times that I have waited longer for my food than at this restaurant. Our order wasn't that big and just two people. Breakfast burrito and side of biscuits and gravy took over an hour to get served. I know this place gets busy during hunting season but an hour is ridiculous! We were not the only ones waiting either. Every table waited at least forty minutes! Management need to staff accordingly when hunting season or ski season because I know they lost a bunch of customers today (and no doubt would have been repeat customers if did it correctly). read more

Waitress wouldn't take my order until she walked around the whole restaurant to serve everyone else first and even close out peoples tabs before simply acknowledging me, offering a water or taking my order (which takes all of 1 minute to do) I left and Went to the Mexican restaurant across the street and received way better service. Screw this place! Never again!!! So sad that we have places like this in Colorado that clearly don't treat people of color the same as whites. There is a sign on the door that basically says if you are in a hurry - you should eat somewhere else. We should have taken their advice. Definitely a local place - we were ignored for our first 5 minutes while patrons who entered after us were greeted and given menus. Second clue I chose to ignore. Why? Because this is Kremmling and there aren't a lot of choices for breakfast.. 70 minutes later our meal arrived. I had an omelet with chorizo, black beans and cheese. Hubby had omelet w/ sausage and cheese. Nothing to go crazy over - it was average. Sourdough bread was yellow - which I thought a bit odd. Paid our bill and the waitress graciously told us she wouldn't charge us for the OJ since she didn't have time to get it to me. Next time - we will eat in Steamboat or Silverthorne but will definitely skip this place. read more

Honestly some of the worst service I've ever had. Which is a bummer because I love supporting small local dinners and such. Ordered the huevos rancheros with over easy eggs but asked that the whites not be runny, so when they brought it out they literally just brought me the yolks (no white at all) so I asked my server if I could have the correct eggs with my meal, she said sure...but then waited until I was DONE with my meal and just brought the check. I asked her about my eggs that I never got and she said the cook decided to throw them away. She didn't offer to take anything off my tab or bring me the eggs but then offered to take off the ice tea from the bill (I had water, my friend had the ice tea). So I asked her if that was it, that my meal didn't come to me right, my eggs were thrown away and she comped my friends drink off her bill instead of something from mine and she said "I guess I could give you a cheesecake"...it was about 9am, so I didn't want dessert and asked her for the eggs, she seemed like this was a issue so I said never mind just surprise me with whatever is easy and she brought me a bowl of green chili which I enjoyed but had also hoped she would've brought to go being that we were all finished with our meal and had the check. Go to pay and that was a whole other hassle that they made us feel bad about needing to pay separate as some had cash some had cards. We waited in line about 15 mins before they "figured out" how to split the check, getting a manager and being short with us to the point where I actually apologized to them for being such a inconvenience. Even the 2 couples behind us made a comment about how long it was taking and noticed how short they were being. Very weird experience. Every time I have come here my food has been gross and I can't even finish my food. I m not picky and will eat anything, but I got food poison here eating a pancake. It's pretty bad when a breakfast spot can't even make a good pancake. I ordered the moose cake and it was was smaller and thinner than my husbands pancake that he got for a side. I would recommend to go to Big Shooters coffee instead you will have better service, food, and awesome coffee. This place is absolutely amazing if you enjoy sitting at a table inside with flies buzzing around at a table with no drinks or food. service is by far the worst I've ever seen. First time I went in, we were seated with no menus or drink order (not a big deal), I'm not kidding you, took 15 min. of us sitting there for someone to finally come over and give us menus. After finally getting our drinks, we thought we had been forgotten about. Drinks were now empty and someone still hadn't been over to take our order. We looked at the empty table next to us as 2 servers were cleaning a 2 person table (2 top). After we finally ate our food (without a refill this whole time), I finally had to go up to ask for the check. The girl at the front was talking some pretty bad things about another server in the restaurant right in front of me. Bad words and everything. I figured the restaurant was having a bad day so I came back to bring my parents while they were visiting. Get this- even worse of an experience than the first time. Service is by far the worst in Colorado. I've been a server before, I know how it works and it is not that hard to help a 3 person table when there are literally 3 other tables and about 5 servers.
