Honestly, I felt the Zen-like aura radiating from him. He guided me around the facility and left me without any questions as I closed my door. Cleanliness is a key component of my choosing the stay at a B&B, hotel, etc. This 100% cleanliness rating is a must before I decide to return for another stay. Whispering Winds Retreat B&B is given a rating of 100% for cleanliness. My room was well-apportioned, comfortable, and quiet which played a key part of my restful sleep. The common areas were home-like and clean. The kitchen was stocked with amenities that allow for a good cup of coffee or a nice homemade meal. So this is an ode to her. We called this place the T Bar and it sat right off the highway, the perfect place to run-in and have a shot of tequila before piling back into a Honda Civic Hatchback packed with 10 people and heading grocery shopping in civilization (read: Fred Meyers in Soldotna, Alaska). At least that's what my friend used to do. :) I do remember this was also the place to go to on Monday nights, when the backyard of a bar (and how many bars actually have a backyard?) had a free taco spread that fed all us fish-slime-maggots from the lower 48. There's a hat collection there that could smoke LIDS under the table, there were baseball caps EVERYWHERE. It was freaky - enough so for me to donate mine at the end of the summer. P.S. Okay - I lied. I actually stopped by for a shot of something circa 1998 when I actually lived in AK full time and my rooommate's timing belt snapped on a dirt road and we were stuck in Kasilof.

We were very late in checking in, and the owners stayed to welcome me. That really shows they care about their business and they are professional and friendly. If you were going on a fishing expedition, this would be a very good option as it has several amenities: fish freezers, a LARGE outdoor jacuzzi (clean and HOT!), most cabins have kitchens, and it even has a canoe for communal use (they have new lifejackets in variety of sizes.) I didn't bring my computer, but they also have wireless. I brought a DVD, but unfortunately my room didn't have a DVD player. They have satellite cable with flatscreen tvs. My room was small, but the linens were very comfy and the price was very low; I feel I got an excellent value. It looks like they have great options for both small and big parties. A large group could rent a whole house, and they have private, 2-person cabins for those on a quiet getaway. I would definitely stay here again.

The accommodations are very nice and Dave and Katie have added several conveniences, such as Wi-Fi, washer/dryers, BBQ's, a hot tub, and canoe for the lake to name a few. I stayed in the Mallard Cabin which had a small kitchen, living room, bed room and bathroom. It was perfectly sized for a couple or a couple with small children. The cabin was well equipped and comfortable. Alaska Serenity Lodge is conveniently located five minutes from Soldotna and the Kenai River. There was plenty to do in my off time, I was fortunate enough to catch a 100 Halibut during my stay. I have traveled all over the world and put Alaska Serenity Lodge at the top of my list for all around great places
