I wish i can give A star to this place. I bought a deal from Groupon and thought it would be a nice trial for my almost 4 year old to introduce violin. I was waiting for their call after leaving a message and even visited the location to see if i can talk to a human being. Finally i got a voicemail that states the violin teacher is out of town so e-mail them to schedule a class. So i wrote a e-mail and waited and waited. And then after a while i got response e-mail that my e-mail got forwarded to the violin teacher. I think i bought groupon on january and i think i got the last e-mail about a month ago. Me and my son got sick of waiting and moving on to a preschool so i don't even know when or how i am going to schedule for the first lesson. I think making an appointment with the president obama might be easier. I think i should just contact groupon for a refund. read more

My son has been learning here for the past 6 months and loves it. He started not even knowing how to hold his trumpet, and now he feels confident enough and sounds good enough to try out for an honor band and a local music school. I took guitar lessons at the Music Stand for almost 6 years with Micah Grant when I was in High School and College. He was the best music teacher I ever had! He would let me choose any song I wanted to learn how to play. If the song was really difficult, he would teach me a simplified version. We also used guitar tabs instead of regular music notes, which made it easier for me to learn as well! If there aren't tabs or sheet music available for your song, no worries! Micah hand writes tabs for each and every song you want to learn- he can play ANY song and figure out the notes by ear :) Other teachers I had in the past would only teach what was in their music book. This is a great place, I've been taking trumpet lessons here since I was in middle school. Tim Hall has changed my life in so many positive ways by teaching me the ways of music. Tim is known throughout Southern California as an amazing teacher in addition to being an incredible player and working musician. His students are consistently placed in honor bands, and are also very successful in their school programs. Tim has had multiple students compete at the national level. I took guitar lessons from Micah Grant for almost 2 years. He's an awesome teacher who starts you out at the simple songs and scales. He's not your average boring music teacher who makes you stick to a boring book of chords, once you learn the basics you can bring in your own songs that you want to learn and he'll teach you that song. I learned songs I never thought I could learn. He's patient and will work with you for as long as you need. Aside from guitar you can also learn other instruments! Best thing is, they are private lessons. I wanted to learn guitar, but not in front of a group, I learned so much more in a one on one teaching setting. I learned songs from The Beatles to The Bangles to Evanescence and The Pretty Reckless. Micah can literally teach you anything! He can learn a song in seconds and have you playing it by the end of the lesson! The lessons don't cost an arm and a leg and everyone there is super nice! My son has studied bass and guitar with Micah since he was in elementary school...he is now a JUNIOR in high school. If that's not a testament to how happy we have been there, then I don't know what is !!! We would not think of going anywhere else for bass or guitar!!! My daughter has been going to the Music Stand for several years for guitar lessons. She is actually a vocalist, but started playing guitar to play along with her singing. She has performed all over Orange County for many different types of audiences and in many different genres of music from oldies to pop to country. Her teacher, Micah, has been amazing. He can teach any type of song from lullabies to heavy metal. Sometimes he coaches my daughter on electric guitar, sometimes acoustic, bass, whatever they want to do. They work on general music theory and skill development in addition to having fun playing music. Since she's a teenager, I let her lead the way and I don't get involved any more in how they decide to work on things. Now they can jam together while she continues to learn new concepts and theory. My daughter loves her lessons with Micah and is amazed that he can listen to any song and immediate play it. Micah is extremely well versed in music instruction from theory to public performance as he was formally educated at the Musician's Institute and has played in a successful working rock band for many years.
