Dylan has been with Ms Mona for about 7 years when we started virtually during those dreaded Covid times. Dylan was 7 at the time and he has grown to become a talented player who still loves to play the piano even in high school. Ms. Mona truly inspires the student with encouragement, great teaching, and wonderful music choices that I like to listen to as a parent. She writes some of the music too so that the pieces sound more full and dramatic, just the way Dylan likes it. She customizes the goals according to the parent and student goals whether it be for fun, to get into a musical school, or to be accredited by the prestigious Royal Conservatory. She brings in other talents teachers too who have their own strengths. Coach Andre teaches Dylan correct finger technique and dexterity which has helped him play fast music clearly. My daughter recently turned 8 and has been taking lessons off and on since 5. She would get bored after awhile. I figured it was due to not being mature enough to take it more seriously. I personally didn't start learning music until I was 7. I think each child is different. Some are ready to learn even before 5 but I think for my daughter she just needed to mature and be able to read and write well. She was taking lessons consistently for 6 months and progressing but then it started to happen again. She started to lose interest! Instead of letting her give up I decided to find a teacher she would really click with. My daughter hit it off with Mona instantly. After one lesson she came home excited. Now I don't even have to remind her to play. She plays all the time for fun! I'm actually shocked at how fast she has progressed! We felt our son's joy in playing piano diminish considerably after five years with his former piano teacher. He was unhappy, stressed out, and playing music that had no meaning to him; pieces that I had never heard myself, even having a musical background myself. She wouldn't level down fun pieces for him despite my knowing that they could be; the teacher would my child wasn't ready. Mona Rose was a complete breath of fresh air when we were about abandon piano altogether. We have only ever worked with her online and once in person so far; because she has perfect aural pitch she leverages this in combination with cutting-edge technology that allows students to learn keys, tempo, and music theory etc without her ever even needing to see their hands on the keyboard. Do not believe other teachers who try to tell you in-person is better - it's because can't match her skill set. If you are a busy family, have your own quality piano and can afford this lovely lady, run, don't walk to book her. Her piano recitals are the best I've ever seen, a comprehensive, near theatrical production. She takes the art seriously. She has a dedicated team under her who fully supports her. Because of how easy she is to work with, it was only then did we realize how stressed out we were before. She understands the struggles of being a kid, juggling extracurriculars, dental appointments and even just needing a mental health day. She works nonstop, she's talked to me from The Netherlands at 3am her time!! She hasn't the arrogance or attitude you might find with other teachers. We are blessed to have her and couldn't be happier with our online (and in-person) structure. Our entire coursework, notes, music sheets - it's all digital. My grandson, who is 8 years old, is taking piano classes with Mona for almost a year. He is a bright young boy who loves piano, learning fun songs, and having a fun teacher. Mona knows how to deal with a young child and most importantly keep their attention, while also being very patient. My grandson didn't want to learn too many classical songs, so she provided him notes to songs that he hears on Kidz Bop, haha. Also, he learned Christmas music which he performed during her recital and she also taught all the kids the etiquette (dressing, bowing, etc.) for the recital. Mona also plays beautifully. It truly touches my soul and really freezes me in my place when she plays a song for my grandson. I get emotional listening to her play and is really heart warming because many of the songs she plays are the ones she wrote herself. I've been going to Mona for private piano lessons for about 2 months now (6 lessons) and I highly recommend her! I'm an adult and was looking to play piano as just a fun hobby. With almost no musical experience (I took a introductory piano class in college), she's got me up and running and reading music. I'm already on my second song, and loving it! My favorite thing about Mona is that she wants me to learn, but equally important, she wants me to have fun. During our first lesson she explained to me that as she gets to know me, and know how I best learn, she'll adapt her teaching to best suit me, and she's totally done this.
