Christine was my teacher, and she took a project that was headed in a couple different directions other than the direction that I originally intended. I never saw anybody so able to figure out and correct my sweater into a project that was acceptable, and doable. I am very impressed with Christine as an instructor. Thank-you, Christine, Barb Kaulback.

Wow. I have never…read morebeen to a "yarn shop" like this. I really don't think this should be called a yarn shop. It's more of an antique shop type of feel, if a horder enjoyed a hobby of knitting. There is yarn - kinda sorta - but there's exponentially more chotchkies. I had to actually step back and take it all in - yep, the chotchkies are all for sale, so they're there on purpose. Yarn. Meh... kinda. Nothing that grabbed my attention and made me want to buy some. I drove out of my way to come here? Good thing I parked where I didn't have to pay for parking. Yikes. What they did have a LOT of for sale was hand-knit things: socks, dishcloths, hats. So peculiar. What knitter wants to go to a "yarn shop" and buy someone else's hand-knit goods? This shop was so baffling. What really emphasized the awkwardness & weirdness of this shop (I can't call it a yarn shop) was the person behind the counter. She wasn't friendly, nor welcoming; she seemed bothered that I was there. Trust me, I became just as bothered to be there. I walked out empty-handed, completely befuddled, and kicking myself for driving so far just for this really-not-at-all "yarn shop".

I have been shopping at Purple Turtle for well over 25 years. Most consignment shops come and go,…read morebut the longevity of this one speaks for itself. The selection is fantastic and everything is so organized. You are warmly welcomed when you enter the store and the sales people are so pleasant and helpful when you have questions regarding fashion. The value is second to none for high end brands and much of the merchandise is brand new with tags still on! I am often complimented on the way I dress and it's because I buy clothes at Purple Turtle that I could never afford at retail. Love this place!

This time, in person, they can't schedule an appointment but I can come back Saturday (tomorrow) & then they can schedule an appointment. All that talk they could have just scheduled & never a thank you for my business. The way I was treated, If I wasn't white, I'd assume they were racist. I guess I don't look the way they want me to look? I heard them schedule an appointment while I was in the store with someone with a typical time frame. Don't waste your time unless maybe they already know you I guess. Maybe why their selection is so sad. Looks like a dodged a really large bullet reading a previous review with unable to get paid for sold items & get back their unsold items.

Purple Turtle Consignment Boutique - Just picked up this cute fleece (I think that's what it's called). Actually, bought the skirt there too, over a year ago.

The Olde Mill House Shoppes is two different buildings - the old stone house and an old barn - that have a wide selection of stuff that women love to shop like rugs, furniture, lighting, home decor, kitchen gadgets, pantry items, women's clothing and accessories. They also have a floral department that I think makes wreaths. My favorite part of the shoppes was the old stone house. Aside from admiring the lovely architecture I enjoyed looked at kitchen gadgets, kitchen decor, pantry items like bread mixes and such. I loved the creek of the floors too. It was a very charming experience. A lot of the furniture was definitely in the Shaker and colonial styles. The lighting section was amazing. Lots of early American inspired design lighting. I wasn't in the market for lighting so I moved on to other things. The rug section was fun to peruse. I saw they sold one of my favorite brands - Dash and Albert. They also had a lot of braided rugs. Regarding the clothing section in the refurbished barn, it wasn't really my style but it seemed like there were some regular customer in there having an absolute ball shopping for some new outfits. It kind of reminded me of the fun, comfy and colorful styles you might find at Chico's. Aside from the above, there was plenty more to look at like some linens, wall art, candles, etc. Overall, this was a fun place to explore and a great place to stop in while in Lancaster County.
