Fantastic administration, amazing hard working PTA, passionate teachers, and kids who for the most part all want to succeed and achieve as people, not just in academics. They a program called "Villages" here where each student meets with a group of kids for different grades and Village teacher once a month. This is the same village year after year, so the kids all have a point of stability and can develop long lasting relationships with other students in different grades. The PTA is hyper-supportive and provides many different programs. The drama program for students, for example, is a free program for 4th through 6th graders. They put on a musical every year that's on par with anything you'd see at the local children's theaters (CYT, Junior Theatre, ACT, etc) and I've personally witnessed it changing some children's lives.

She was very behind the other students at Diegueno, but the teachers were so patient with her, and even met with her before school each week to help her get caught up. When my daughter graduated from Diegueno she told me "Mom when I first went to Diegueno, I was the dumbest kid in the class, but now I am one of the smartest ones!" I am not saying that either of those statements that she made are necessarily true, but the amazing teachers at Diegueno helped my daughter, improve and grow, and now her confidence in her abilities are through the roof. She has since moved on to high school, but one thing that is interesting is that the kids from her current school who went to Diegueno for elementary school, are excelling at math and public speaking in particular. My daughter even won the award for being the best at Algebra at her new school, because Diegueno prepared her so well, and instilled a natural curiosity and love of learning in her. I have seen academic leaps and bounds. I used to make sure the kids had two tutors. I have now stopped the tutoring and put my child's education into the care of the teachers. The kids are much more willing to try hard to finish homework without too much prying from me. Whatever system they have. It works. And it is working wonders. When you take a tour take a peek at what the kids are working on and you will have an idea of the academic excellence they strive for. Just book a tour.

The best teachers in the world, the best staff from the custodian to the music teacher. Amazing and talented special ed teachers also. The school is totally secure and they are always teaching about respect and very anti-bullying. Our school thrives on the parent volunteers also. We have the best moms and dads helping out in the classrooms which usually puts the ratios at about 7-1. I fell in live with every teacher each year and thought that the next year I couldn't possibly have a better one, but every year I am more than happy with the last teacher helping to choose her successor and always ending up with the right teacher for my son. The kids have iPads in kinder, and really everything, technically speaking and otherwise that they need to get educated. We have running club on Tuesdays, pancake breakfast that the dad's club puts on and where our principal participates. We have such fun, cool events where so many parents are involved and actually friends. We work together, are friendly and enjoy stopping to chat with each other. Just an amazing school. My heart broke when they tool fourth grade away. This will now be our last year here..

The principal Mrs Domingo, knows every child by name and is extremely involved in all aspects of the school. The superintendent is very progressive and the district makes great efforts to get the children ready to be part of the larger community- teamwork, social consciousness, technology and innovation are highly valued as well as the "keys of excellence". The PTA raises funds to expand the horizons of the school and help support STEAM education. Physical activity stressed as well. My child has a 504 plan and I feel they take great care in developing and implementing a plan that works for all. Her current teacher, Mrs, Davis, is a true gem, one in a million. We could not be happier with this move and this school.
