They are not the most out there staff, but they give you the right change back. I've snuck in for some chewing gum or to flick through some new magazines. They have all the European versions of Vogue and Marie Claire and other genre magazines. But their fashion range is really good, being in Kings Cross they have to cater for the crowd.

All I needed to buy was an oversized envelope, one stamp and a birthday card. Did you know that you can't purchase single stamps nowadays? I mean how often do we send mail these days? Instead of spending 60c on a stamp, you end up spending $6 on a sheet of ten (that you'll probably never use). Venting aside, I found the birthday card easily enough, though the single envelopes are mysteriously found behind the counter. I didn't expect to be able to purchase Darrell Lea chocolates to go with my birthday card. They have a whole section dedicated to these chocolates, enshrined in all their purple and white glory. It's a little difficult to resist that corner, so make sure that the next time you head in to buy the latest Cosmopolitan magazine, that you don't find yourself scratching your head with a box of these in your other hand.

Always dusty old stores with blue carpet and never more than 3 customers, it was always a miracle that they survived just on selling lotto tickets, newspapers and red frogs, because it was always a rare sight to see anyone actually buy one of the exxy magazines or the overpriced stationary. Not that I would have noticed, I was always too busy pining after the lollies and hoping my dad was in a generous mood. No Red Clouds or Warheads here unfortunately, but they have a fantastic choice of magazines befitting it's prime location in the heart of hipsterdom. On its limited shelfspace, Crown St Newsagency has curated a neat collection of glossies ranging from your Who and OK!s to the standard Cosmos, Donna Hays, Smith Journals to the Monocles and Dumbo Feathers you'd be proud to display in the wicker basket at the front of your fixie. Some things never change though - there's still inexplicably never more than 3 people in here.

I really love my local newsagency. For a small store they have quite a lot in it without being…read moremessy or appearing crammed. They have the mags I like - Frankie, Yen, Web Designer, Wallpaper as well as all the glossies, sports and family magazines and newspapers. But they also have things like super glue, sparklers, A3 coloured card, files, street maps, birthday candles and icecream. If you run out of bread, milk or Tim Tams this week shop will have you covered when the markets are closed. My only issue is the three stairs up to get in her as I often have a pram with me. Not a big deal but would be easier without them. The staff are very kind and friendly.

She acknowledges each one by name with a joyous and very happy smile and a warm individualised greeting for each person. She is most attentive to her customers and will do whatever she can to meet any needs and requests if she is able. She is so respectful and with her smile she connects with you with that delightful twinkle in her eyes. She beautifully, in her long and often demanding day, continuously on her feet, is amazing. I"m confidant people feel uplifted from a visit to her newsagency; as every encounter I've observed and experienced comes from a space and place of delight and love. Often I'll get to the bus stop on Marion Street near Elswick only to discover that I don't have a…read moreticket and so I'll hastily run up to the Leichhardt Newsagency and procure one as quickly as possible. The Leichhardt Newsagency is a small shop, but full of a wide selection of magazines and newspapers. They sell all the things that you would expect to buy in a newsagent and the women behind the counter is always very friendly and always tells me to have a good day. Once I went there and they were out of tickets, which was an issue, but I've been there at least ten times since and that late delivery of tickets never rehashed itself, so I think that was the rarest of occasions.
