Three starters were served and we waited 20 minutes for the fourth starter which was a pancake roll. This meant that 3 of us ate first to avoid a freezing starter. For main my partner ordered fillet beef, peppers and black bean sauce but received chicken instead. Not wanting another delay we accepted this and notified the staff. For main the child had chickens balls with barbecue sauce but they served everything without the barbecue sauce meaning the child couldn't eat. We chased this 3 times and another 20 minutes wait we eventually got the sauce. We brought this up to the staff who really didn't seem to care less and blamed this on the amount of takeout orders they had backed up in the kitchen. The female staff in particular are blunt, rude and need training on basic customer service. A poor excuse as dine in customers should take priority considering they were making a profit of £29 from the 2 bottles of wine we bought due to their high mark up of wine. Will not be back.

Decor was nothing to write home about. We placed a straightforward request to amend one of the mains and this started the ball rolling on an evening of poor service when they seemed unable to confirm if they could or couldn't do it. The waiting staff's English is very poor and they seem to be in mortal dread of the owner who interjected with a terrible attitude. The food, however, was absolutely delicious. Overall and thinking back I think this is a very generous 2 stars.

From these visits I can say it's a nice, clean and well established Chinese restaurant and takeaway with an impressive set of loyal dinners. Of course, it has a large varied menu of chicken, beef, pork and - my favourite - prawn dishes. All of which are served up in generous portions for decent prices. The staff were SUPER friendly, particular the young girl working and we had a good chat while I waited on the chips. After about 3-4 minutes, they chips were ready and I headed home. When I opened them, they were deliciously smothered in cheese (not just on top, all through the chips) and tasted like heaven. They needed a wee bit of salt over them, but apart from that, they made for the perfect post-skating snack while watching the remnants of Eurovision. Now that I know about their chips, I fear I'm on a slippery slope into Chinese shop chip addiction. I'm reserving the final star for when I try out the rest of the menu.

As I've said in reviews before, I love a chinese that offers vegetarians something other than just vegetables in a sauce and Cathay Cuisine has the most to offer vegetarian diners in Glasgow in my opinion! Cathay Cuisine is more than just a chinese, they also offer Japanese, Malaysian and Thai dishes, as well as traditional "british" chinese takeaway fare. My usual order consists of fried beancurd and dip (Just Eat will give you an option of dips, don't bother choosing, you always get sweet chili!), fried rice and salt and chilli chips. I also really like the mini spring rolls, they're really crispy and crunchy! I'm also a fan of their salt and chilli beancurd and the sweet and sour aubergine in batter. I've never ordered a dish from here I didn't like! The deep fried beancurd can be a bit hit and miss, last time I ordered it was a bit dry, so I'd recommend ordering a sauce to go with it. I usually get the satay sauce which is a tad on the spicy side. One thing to keep in mind is that the portion sizes here are extremely large! A large rice is more than enough to feed two. A portion of salt and chilli chips will arrive, I kid you not, in a small pizza box, enough to feed four! Great if you are fully prepared for a feast or if you're ordering for a large group, but keep this in mind if you're only ordering for two people (or one person, don't judge me!). Their menu is enormous so I challenge anyone to not find a dish! I usually order from the Cathcart Road branch and deliveries can take up to an hour, so order in plenty of time!!
