I went 2 months ago and saw Kara!!! I have been going to Forefront Dermatology for years as I am fair skin and was a sun lover. I moved to Howard and thought the new place I would go to for any skin issues would be this place. NOT- first, my appointment was for 8:15- waited 15 minutes at the reception desk for one of the 2 receptionists to check me in. I finally got checked in and taking to my room. Dr Kara came in, this was for a yearly routine exam. She basically was in and out of the visit within 10 minutes and told to come back in 9 months. I said to her, 9 months she said yes. Well 3 weeks later, very bad basil cell on my leg that was there and untreated when I went to her. SAVE your time and go to a real professional who is not about how many people they can get in and out of their office and truly care about the patients that entrust them with their care. I had a very frustrating experience with NEW Dermatology Associates of Green Bay. I'll start by saying the building itself is absolutely gorgeous--the exam rooms have beautiful barn wood from Tennessee that give it a lodge-like feel. Unfortunately, the care and billing practices did not match that first impression. Before I even spoke to a provider, the exam room was already set up with a biopsy kit, which felt very presumptive. A nurse came in, took photos, and asked a few basic questions. Then a young PA came in and immediately said a skin biopsy would be necessary to determine what was causing my rash. I agreed and was told to return in two weeks for suture removal and results. After driving an hour back for that follow-up, the nurse removed my sutures and told me the PA would be in shortly. The PA came in briefly--less than five minutes--and told me they still didn't have the biopsy results and would call me when they did. He asked how my rash was doing, I answered, and that was the entire visit. Later, I received a bill for over $150 for that appointment. When I called to question the charge, I was initially told that suture removal should have been included in the biopsy cost and that the charge would be removed. However, three months later, it was still submitted to my insurance and I was being billed again. When I followed up a second time, I was told by the manager that because I "spoke to the PA," it had to be billed as a follow-up visit. That is completely unreasonable--the provider initiated a brief conversation after informing me they didn't even have my results yet. It feels like patients are being billed for unnecessary or minimal interactions, and I find that extremely concerning. I cannot recommend this clinic based on my experience. read more

I had a severe rash and has been advised by my physician to New Dermatology group. They have been very nice but haven't diagnosed my problem. I had three visits and two biopsies done, multiple blood tests to hear that they don't know what I have. The steroids creams only worsen my skin. My skin barrier was totally destroyed by the steroid creams. Each biopsy results had to wait for two weeks to not receive any answer on my skin problem. AI did more help and advised me skin care products to help me to restore the skin barrier and heal my problem. read more

Run, Do not walk, away from The New Dermatology Group. I called to make an appt at the Voyager Drive office with the dermatologist for a rash that had rapidly spread all over my body. When I got to the doctor's office, I saw a bunch of pamphlets and noticed they were all physician assistants. I told the receptionist that I was there for the dermatologist and she said I would not be seeing him. I should have followed my gut and left but was desperate due to the rash that I thought may be contagious so I stayed. The P.A. was nice enough but after going over my medical history, which is nothing, and reviewing my medications, Spironolactone 100mg, she immediately said I had to have a biopsy. Not knowing any better, I went along with it, thinking they're the experts. I asked what it could be and she gave me 3 options, of which none were correct. She told me she'd call me in 2 weeks to let me know the findings. I did not feel good about this so I contacted my doctor and sent him pictures of my rash. He knew within 2 seconds that I was having a reaction to the Spironolactone and told me to stop it immediately. Within a few days, the rash started to go away. In the meantime, I got a bill for $1,250 for a biopsy and pathology that was unnecessary as it should have been known by a dermatologist that I was on a medicine that commonly caused this type of rash. I called and spoke to the office manager. She was very kind and said Dr. Kevan Lewis would call me but he never did. I called back and was told he would NOT be calling me. Apparently, I wasn't worth his time. His solution was to give me 15% off my gigantic bill that I should never have gotten. The only charge I should have had was an office visit. In my opinion, a lesser qualified person takes a biopsy because they don't have answers and gives them to the doctor, effectively charging the patient for more procedures. The PA that checked my skin concern, as recommended by my primary physician, was cursory at best. Only a quick glance at my cheek and eye area, No use of any equipment to enhance a visual inspection. The entire visit, with this "professional" was less than 5 minutes, leaving me with many questions and concerns on my part. I needed to go back to my regular physician to get a second referral for a second opinion at a different dermatology group in Green Bay Where I was highly satisfied and appreciated their integrity and professionalism. First visit, overall skin check, first time. Very thorough and explained everything. Had a follow up check and all was well. They found cancer spots on my arm and went in for the removal. It was again explained well, Dr. Pape did a great job, and healed up great. When I called in with questions they were very helpful with answering. All in all, I recommend them and will continue to go yearly for the skin check. read more

I brought my son in to have some weird rash checked. It ended up being Molluscum (sp?). Jason treated him once and then we ended up having to come back because my son neglected to tell us about some spots and we saw Emma. (I believe). I really appreciated their kindness and understanding around my Autistic son. They explained what they were doing well so he wasn't surprised and allowed him to pick his treatment. I was given good directions for follow up and was super happy with their treatment and professionalism. Would definitely recommend to friends! read more

I scheduled a skin biopsy over a month in advance. I was given several reminders to not miss the appointment. The last reminder was at 9:08PM the night before. I took off for work for this appointment. When I got there, the appointment had been cancelled 30 minutes prior because the provider called in supposedly sick. The next available appointment is not until March. No accommodations were made because of all the inconveniences I experienced. Very poor customer service. read more

Unfortunately, one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. Somehow in making a second appointment for a very small spot on the outside of my ear, I was not informed that there would be a Mos surgery and skin graft, that would require three different appointments in order to remove all the stitches involved, and two weeks of restricted behavior. When I tried to ask questions on the day of the procedure as to why I hadn't been informed I felt I was repeatedly "blown off", with , "of course someone told you. " I ended up losing a very lucrative week of work ( because my work is very physical), having to cancel a trip that I had spent four months planning, and missing out on various group hikes and holiday gatherings that are an important part of my physical and mental health, and the mild but real trauma of being subject to a totally unexpected surgical procedure. I would have never scheduled the procedure for that date had I known what to expect. I have a physical job, live alone, heat my house with wood and had two trips planned. Though the staff was skilled I felt the priority was moving me through that day's schedule with no regard for me as a patient. I would never return to or recommend New Dermatology. read more

My husband had a biopsy on his upper lip as he previously had cancer in that area. Our GP referred us to The New Dermatology Group. The building itself was beautiful...that is the extent of our positive review of this facility. We had an appointment and waited 45 minutes to be taken to a procedure room. The staff appeared to be all new employees and could not navigate their computer system. They were not sure what we were there for! The doctor spent 30 seconds with us. Proper hand hygiene and wearing masks with an open wound was not performed. The nurse bandaging the area did not perform hand hygiene after coming out to get me in the waiting room, pulling her hair back and the began to dress the wound. Did NOT wash her hands. For a cosmetic dermatology facility, I did not expect his upper lip have the amount of scarring he has. It is difficult for him to close his lips and talk correctly. When we returned to have the stitches out, another new employee that was very nervous took out his stitches. We did not see anyone with a degree (RN, NP, or doctor) to check the wound. Also, no gloves until I said something. He also had a small biopsy of an area on his arm taken. We received a call from them and informed us that when he had his stitches out, he would receive cryotherapy on that area. When we asked, they could not find any documentation regarding the results or phone call. We waited another 30 minutes and a NP or PA rushed into the room, did not identify herself, performed the cryotherapy and left. No instructions or anything. She was in a BIG hurry. Also, any treatment/surgery we have ever had resulted in a follow-up call the next day...does not happen at this facility. Would NOT recommend this facility. read more

Such an awful experience. I had a lump on each eyelid. I had it scheduled to have both of them removed from new dermatologist. After the horrific job they did on the first one, I canceled the second one. It looks like a child showed me back together. He actually pulled part of the skin from my nose up towards my eye. I couldn't open my eye all the way after 5 months. After the horrible experience, I finally got up enough nerve to go to a plastic surgeon at prevea. I could open my eye all the way immediately after. The stitching was so neat and perfect. One week after the surgery, you can barely even tell it was done. When I went back into any w to tell them about how I couldn't open my eye all the way yet after 5 months, he blamed me for being a slow healer. He was rude and sarcastic. He told me it would be a minor cut that would heal completely within 2 to 3 weeks. That was a complete lie. He sliced me all the way from my eyebrow down to the corner of my eye. I wouldn't even go into the grocery store for months because I was embarrassed about how it looked. read more

I called to see if I could see a dr. about remove of a golf ball sized cyst. under my arm (very painfull) . THE NURSE told me at all they would do is a biopsy., and wait 10 day for a result. I went to the NEW Dermatology Group to have a few spots or what I assumed were basal cell cancer spots. I've has some of these removed before by my family doctor and it was a very simple procedure. Walked into the office, they were removed and one week later I returned to have the sutures removed and the lab results discussed. It was always a fast and very simple procedure. This was NOT the case with the NEW Dermatology Group. They biopsied the spots and I then waited almost 3 weeks to hear back from them. I had 2 spots on my shoulder and they refused to remove them both at the same time. I told them that I was going to look elsewhere to have them removed and 2 days later they called me back and said they begrudgingly agreed to remove them both at the same time and that the procedure would take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. I did, however, go to a plastic surgeon at the Prevea clinic in the meantime. After talking to Dr. Sauerhammer I decided to have her do the procedure. She said they would NOT have done a biopsy and would have just removed them at the first visit. The procedure took about 30 minutes and went amazing well. There was also so other hassles involved with obtaining my records from The NEW Dermatology Group. The entire interaction with them felt like I was being scammed. The told me I would be able to get in for 2-3 months afterwards. I would have been able to get in within 2-3 days at the plastic surgeon. 30 minutes vs 1 hour and 45minutes, 2 visits vs 4 visits. I would NOT recommend going to a dermatologist for a simple skin cancer removal. If at all possible go to a plastic surgeon. They are actual surgeons and the whole process will go much more smoothly. read more
