Each room has a lot of history. Take one look around and there's a lot going on. Apparently this location used to be a part of monastery and has evolved over the years now to a great pub. Each dish we enjoyed, the vegetarian linguine was fresh, chips were delicious and the fish was wonderful. We had the rabbit (with douglas fir) and the pigs trotters to start. We loved the pigs trotters, they came with fried quails eggs and were delicious. The rabbit was very interesting and came both as a pate and smoked. We both had the beef, which was superb. It fell apart and was tasty and tender. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, with a gorgeous wild garlic mash and some of the best mushrooms I have ever tasted. The cheese board looked amazing, and they were kind enough to let us sample a piece of Lancashire Bomb cheddar, which was superb! It was a very busy (Thursday) night and the staff were obviously kept pretty occupied, but they still managed to be attentive (they noticed that our table wobbled and fixed it immediately) and very knowledgable.
