I had a venue booked for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary... then came COVID…read more The venue cut to 50% capacity, which made it too small. I had to cancel and re-think everything. The venue needed to be large enough to accommodate distancing, catering and food service was sketchy since many places closed, local restrictions were fluid and I didn't live in the city where the event would be held. At one point, I thought we wouldn't be able to celebrate more than having a small dinner. It was discouraging. Then I found Milestone Memories and Events. I had a good feeling about Geri after our first phone call. The second call confirmed my initial impression. I needed someone with experience and good judgment that I could trust for advice. After all, large events take hundreds of decisions and bad choices can create bad experiences for all the guests. To give context, the guest list was 250 people. Given the circumstances, I estimated 100-150 would attend. The final RSVP count came in at 140. This was not a small event and we pulled it off in four months! Here are just a few highlights of my great experience with Milestone Memories: - We developed a budget, and came in under - They got to know us and designed decor and settings to match (my mom loved everything!) - Everything LOOKED AMAZING, tables, center pieces, lighting, photo backdrop, entry tables - All the logistics like how people enter, move, exit, accounting for seating, everything was great - They found the venue, catering, music and negotiated many details so I only made major decisions. I can't tell you how important that is because it can be overwhelming dealing with multiple contracts when the event is personal. - They took care of my parents and were so thoughtful of all their needs on the day of the event - Excellent communication throughout Geri and her staff are genuine, caring people and I'm so thankful we met. Don't misunderstand, she's a skilled project manager and straight forward communicator that will take care of business! What I mean is she thought of details that I could never have thought of. For example, she created a space for my parents to rest before the event and stocked it with a beautiful snack tray. She arranged a "Grand Entrance" which turned out amazing. My parents had a "first dance", and I mean they had never danced in public before, even at their wedding. This was Geri's idea and it made such an impact! This is the longest review I've written and it is still too short. What a great 4 month journey this was with Geri to create such a memorable celebration for my parents! People are still talking about it a week later. I still get emails and texts complimenting how great it was, and we have the best pictures to help us remember. Here's are a few things people are saying: "elegant", "fun", "relaxed", "beautiful", "amazing!"... My mom and dad loved everything! After working with Geri and her team for 4 months, I 100% recommend them to anyone needing a spectacular event!

Since we planned the wedding ourselves--without a wedding planner and with Hana serving only as a day-of coordinator--we evaluated everything holistically, from the time we hired you to the wedding day itself. Here are the key reasons for our rating: Ceremony Timing & Communication Our concern was not about dead time during the rehearsal lunch but specifically on the wedding day. There was an unexpected pause in the ceremony, which left our groomsmen standing in the sun and caused some confusion among guests. While we could have emphasized the inclusion of the worship song between the ceremony and the entourage's exit, this detail was clearly listed in the Vibo App, which you mentioned was your guide for the wedding workflow. Delayed Communication About Props & Photobooth Background On July 22 and multiple times afterward, we asked for pictures of the props and photo booth backgrounds you had available. Your delayed response resulted in us having to purchase a background ourselves. Had we received the information earlier, we would have bought the background at the time of booking on July 9 instead of September 2, avoiding last-minute changes. Missed Venue Tour & Rehearsal Attendance On September 18, we scheduled a meeting because you were unable to attend the venue tour with other vendors. While we understand that you had another gig on September 19 and needed to prioritize your business, we were disappointed because you had "promised" two months prior that you would attend. We chose to set aside our feelings about this and appreciated that you instead committed to attending the rehearsal lunch, which you did. You mentioned that this was not typical for you, and we acknowledged that by giving you a tip for the long drive. Communication Concerns on September 18 During a phone call on September 18, when we provided feedback about communication issues, we felt uncomfortable when you said, "If you feel that I am not the right DJ for you..." This felt dismissive, especially since we had already chosen you over other DJs with similar or greater experience at a lower cost. Dismissal of Timeline Discussion On the same day, we tried to go over the wedding timeline in detail, but you repeatedly responded with, "That's too easy." This made us feel that our concerns were being brushed aside and gave us the impression that you were fully confident in understanding the tight timeline. Reception Announcements During the reception, we asked Hana to relay our request for you to announce the wedding favors and Venmo fund signs multiple times. However, the announcements were not made frequently enough for guests to take notice. As a suggestion, we recommend asking couples in advance which announcements are essential so they are not overlooked during the reception. Unplanned Performance During the Reception One of the biggest disappointments was an unplanned performance during the reception that was never approved by us. While this may not have been entirely your fault, it should have required our direct approval beforehand. To this day, it still saddens us that it happened. There was a line for the photobooth the entire night. His booth is super kitschy, yet discreet and inviting - beats the hell out of a big backdrop and lighting display that often comes with a "photo booth" offered by a photographer. And his price is so competitive! The photo strips also provided a incredibly special keepsake for our guests. My husband and I have a CD of all the photo strips and several printed copies that guests left for us, and they're one of our most prized momentos from the day. I would highly recommend working with Matthew for a wedding or any other event, you will not regret it.
