Clean changing rooms (female ones) Equipment is regularly cleaned (I see the staff doing it, which is reassuring) Only thing is: avoid peak times if possible at all as the place will be crammed with people (hence leaving you with little space to workout, especially on the upper floor). Triceps ropes could do with some replacement. Some people do not always put back the equipment but we probably didn't receive the same education... :)

It looks great, it's always clean, never too busy, a lot of cardio options should one be interested in cardio and quite a lot of weights too. Staff seem to have found the right balance between being friendly and a bit too helpful. In other gyms staff insist on you paying them to train you till they exasperate you, whereas here it's just...they tell you they can help should you need them to and that's all. Apart from that they're quite nice, smile a lot and look good. So, yeah, absolutely no complaints about this lovely gym. Although there's quite a few gyms within a mile from my home, I'm really sure I'm gonna be using this gym for as long as I'm living in the area.

However, if like most folk out there, you have to pay around £40 per month, then I'd suggest you shop around. The gym itself is tiny, only supervised 70% of the time and some of the users in there are a bit on the dodgy side. I mean, who in this day & age wants to work out in jeans & a hoodie? You don't get a membership card straight away because there is a fault with thier printer. Instead, every time you go, you have to leave a deposit of £5 or more or a mobile phone, jewellery etc... After paying 2 months up front, the last thing you want to do is to faff around with deposits on entries. There's a small sauna & steam room on separate floors. How would that work then? Waltz up the stairs with just a towel around you? Not the best design in the world. I guess one of the good things about signing up with the YMCA is that that that you're not committed with them on a contract for a year. I've been with them for only a month now & I feel ready to consider an alternative gym. That's not good.

Every time I visit this place I am welcomed with a friendly, warm smile. Every time I leave I am spoken to (by name) to ask how everything was. Every time I have needed help for anything at all there has been someone to help and they don't charge me for this, unlike some gyms!!!! There is a touch screen computer on the gym floor that has lots of different exercise options that I've never seen before, what a great added extra. I have visited almost all the gyms in this area (roughly around 10) and yes some have much fancier equipment but they are so full up that you can't get on anything and are left waiting ages which is frustrating. I have experienced quite a lot that some gyms in the area are full of younger people taking selfies and not using the equipment properly (easy gym, the gym, pure gym) so if you are looking for a serious place to train with a fantastic, professional atmosphere then you have to visit Fitness First Harringay. We usually start in the jacuzzi which is quite crowded, which means that there are lots of bodies and groping hands close to us!! In the Sauna, my wife likes to sit between two strange men. Its not usually long before her hands wander under their towels to feel what they have got and of course she is happy to be felt too. We usually end up in one of the upstairs rooms, with someone she has picked out. the last time it was with a gorgeous black guy who did her proud!!
