I stayed at the NewBridge for two nights while attending a conference in Newcastle City centre.
The hotel is a former Premier Inn property and retains most of the look and feel of that chain. The 4th floor double room I was in (which was a huge bed, made of two twin beds pushed together) was quiet and very comfortable, with a work desk, an armchair, a flat-screen TV, plus a small bath and shower in the decent-sized bathroom.
The hotel is a few minutes walk from the main hub-bub of Newcastle City Centre, and is in a quiet location.
The staff were efficient, if not overly friendly. I did raise an eyebrow at the burly security staff who were on duty in reception late on Friday night. They were there to prevent drunks and stragglers, but as a resident, I felt a little intimidated at their attitude towards me as a guest when I returned to the hotel. The need for security could be better balanced with a friendly (rather than just perfunctory) attitude towards guests.
Overall, this was a good place to stay for a business trip. It's a Premier Inn in everything but name (even the Wi-Fi retains the Premier Inn naming!) and the rates are very reasonable. read more
