They host regular Melbourne dj's as well as bringing in some internationals from time to time for their in house events. Circus Bar has recently undergone a hige refurbishment and the results are nothing short of impressive, spread across two levels Circus has the main room downstairs complete with rich red walls, chic circular booths and of course a decent dance floor. Upstairs is the balcony that has been fitted out in a way that resembles the beach bars in Miami. The balcony has a second bar as well as another dj booth and looks out over the top of Chapel Street and Commercial Road. Circus is open Thursday through Sunday and is available for both birthdays and private functions.

Has a very weird mixed crowd of people which you never would of thought existed. The venue is very nice looking and plays the exact same music as revolver as they both have the same resident DJs. The rooftop is beautiful but they do close some of it off for functions. The only negative points of the venue are the crowd (essentially the revolver rejects, me being one of them at the time ) and gets very overcrowded being a small venue. Only time I would visit is when everything else is shut as it closes around midday Monday. On the positive super friendly staff and security, great music and nice looking venue.

Around the outside area are different 'stalls with each 'stall' acting as a different bar including; a Beach bar, a diner, an automotive repair joint and even Roxy Nightclub. Confusing, yeah? Check out the website to get a better grasp of what I'm trying to say! Capacity is around 500 which is perfect for that big function you're holding. The staff are fantastic and incredibly helpful, they'll make your event extra special even offering dancers on podiums (the cool kind, not the skanky kind) and other little extras can be added to this already extraordinary venue. Like I said, I can't explain Bobby's well enough to give it the glory it deserves, it really is something you have to see for yourself.

The opening of the venue was packed with local and international celebrities, and I'm sure will be used for all kinds of special events and evenings that us simpletons will not be welcome at. It will be interesting to see if this type of club will retain its high standard when the hype dies down. The venue itself is beautiful, and is both sophisticated and luxurious. First Floor only really gets going at 3am - it's the only bar on all of Brunswick Street that is open past that time, so expect a line if you're heading there late. Also boys, expect a wait unless you're accompanied by a lady. As mentioned previously, the crowd is sleazy but completely harmless. I have competed in dance-off's at First Floor with some seriously creepy people and had the time of my life. The drinks are reasonably priced - the same you'd expect anywhere, and the music varies from night to night. Friday's is a retro night with a mix of the best from the 80's and 90's, and Saturday's have a rotating list of DJ's. Occasionally, on public holidays, an 80's hair metal band will play. GO SEE THEM. Personally, I would rather they take the Circuit route and have some open nights and others men only. Or there was one club I went to in Barcelona that simply charged women more, which worked to keep the ratio down and the hag quality high. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is that the managers do what they do to ensure the club serves its core clientele. You want to bitch about gender inequality? Let's talk about the Melbourne Club. Not even the Prime Minister and Governor-General can get in there. Once inside, the Peel is standard issue cheesy club fun - loud pop music, pricey drinks, crowded smoking area. If you're there with fab friends, you will have a fab time. My advice, ladies, is don't find the queuing thing prohibitive. Except if you are gaggle of girls out for a laugh or a hen's night, in which case you should go somewhere else because you're spoiling it for the rest of us. For the rest of you normal girls who just happen to be out with your gay friends, just line up and deal with it. You've probably got a better chance of getting in than the Prime Minister.
