At peak times it will usually have a few buses starting at Five Ways Island on Calthorpe Road. I like this bus, having travelled all the way along it on one journey or another. I usually use it between Moseley and Five Ways. It can get very caught up in traffic at peak times and I've been left waiting quite a while on many occasions. However, the buses on the route are generally all new ones. They are clean and spacious and it's easy to get on and off with a pushchair. It stops outside the MAC and generally has one of the nicer routes of South Birmingham buses in my experiences.

Birmingham International Railway Station is a pretty cool station, considering it isn't…read moreBirmingham's main station, infact it is around a 10-15 minute journey into the city centre (New Street), with this station serving the NEC and Airport, it is in the Solihull borough of the city and should not be confused with New Street (Some of the photos on Yelp appear to be from Birmingham New Street). The station is managed by Avanti West Coast, with five platforms, as far as I'm aware all services call via Birmingham New Street however services also go to major cities such as Manchester, Bournemouth, London, Glasgow and Reading with services provided by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Transport for Wales and West Midlands Trains. The station seemed pretty clean, it is easy to get around the station and access the AirTrain which takes you directly to the Airport, and the walkway which takes you to the NEC and Resorts World. You can continue your journey via the many bus routes which stop right outside, or the Airtrain. There is also a small WHSmith and Subway before the ticket gates which is handy. The staff at the station are friendly and happy to call out, and I look forward to using this station again, it might not be as glamorous as St Pancras / Birmingham New Street but certainly does the job. 4*

One option was to hire a car. But a cheaper, alternative option would be to stay at an airport hotel and get collected the next day. We went for the latter option. 39 GBP to rest your head after a late flight and to have a shower in the morning, it was a bargain in my mind. And from their own sign outside, you could have stayed for 36 GBP as a walk in price by the looks of it (subject to change, I'm sure). OK the room was small and the bed was not luxurious, the shower and toilet look like they would be more suited on a boat. But it was comfortable and all very clean. The shower impressed too the next morning. The WiFi was free, for 24 hours if I remember correctly. The young guy manning reception when we arrived was friendly and nice. Recommended as somewhere clean to crash. If you've spare cash, then I'm sure the Ibis next door would be more up your street.

There is a pod shower and a seperate pod toilet. The washhand basin is in the room. The room is clean and tidy with a large window. There is a flat screen TV with a good range of stations and also radio. There is free Wifi area in the public entrance area. Unlimited breakfast costs £2.99 and on offer was a choice of corn flakes or bran flakes, brown or white bread for toasting, marmalade, strawberry or blackcurrent jam with butter or marg. To drink there is orange or apple juice. Hot drinks are tea, coffee or hot water with some fruit teas. Hot chocolate or special coffee cost £1.20. It is basic and there is no hair drier or kettle but I found the room more than adequate and at a bargain price.

It is an elevated tram-type vehicle that transfers passengers between Birmingham International Rail Station and the main airport terminal. It it very reliable and convenient, with shuttles going back-and-forth every couple of minutes. From the brian station, it a brief walk to the boarding point and it drops you right at the heart of the departure hall. The best part is that it is free. The worst part is silly sponsor messages that come at the start and end of the journey, but I guess it has to pay its way. Riding AirRail normally means the start of a holiday, so I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up!

So me and my son left needing to get a taxi for a flight at 5am. Ended up getting an Uber within 15mins and it cost half the estimated price of the taxi. What a poor way to run a business and I would never try to us this company again.

Our bed was two twin beds (as we booked somewhat late), and they were comfy to sleep in. The room came with a desk, which was nice to use while I prepped some work items. The room's bathroom was a regular small hotel bathroom, but I did run out of conditioner one morning shower and just had to deal with it as I was on a schedule. The hotel staff brought some later when my husband requested it. The breakfast experience is fun! They had lots of very helpful staff members willing to bring you napkins or help you find an item. They had lots of items for a hotel breakfast - a hot dish bar, a bar for porridge, a bar of pastries, a bar for yogurt bowl making, and a bar of other cold items. They also had lots of drink choices. I enjoyed my breakfast here. I was relieved that the breakfast was good, as there were 0 other breakfast options within walking distance. (kinda odd). Be warned, however, that the nearby dinner options are very slim. The 'best' choices were at Resort World, and that's not saying much. I didn't love eating there, and I didn't want to pay the Hilton's dinner prices. Keep that in mind!

Booked 3 rooms here for 27.01.14 - booked and paid for 3 weeks in advance…read more At 13.55 ( 5 mins before check in ) they called me to say that they didnt have the rooms as they were being repaired and that they had booked me elsewhere. I couldnt understand the chap on the phone as his accent was heavy and he spoke very quickly. I agreed to come to the hotel for an explanantion. The manager told me that they thought the rooms would be ready but they werent and that they had booked me next door at the Hilton. I told her that I didnt believe her at all, what they have done in my opinion is sell the rooms at a higher rate than I paid. She then said she would add free parking and breakfast to the hilton booking for me. So we left, called the others and went to the Hilton. The check in desk had no record of any booking from crowne plaza and had to call them three times to actually get it confirmed. The Crowne Plaza then sent through the booking. They booked us 3 twin rooms ( we had booked 3 doubles with them ) no car park and no breakfast. The lack of service, lies and downright shoddy treatmeant of a returning customer means this customer will return no more.
