Rainy Day Spa Day I have such an intense appreciation for the intentional atmosphere of peace and relaxation of being in the spa. Im also a homebody so the cozy, safe, warm atmosphere of the Nurture Nook is my go to when I treat myself. Even the first time I went it felt familiar and immediately comfortable. Yesterday I got a massage and facial, with some extras My massage was with Alex. I've had two with him. I love his massages but they are different that an exclusive deep tissue. He uses his extensive Army combat medic experience (I ended up being a chatty Cathy my first time and found this out.) to really tune into the body in a way I've not had with other massages. This was especially helpful since the first time I got a massage from him I had just been in an accident and was pretty sore in some places. He managed to loosen up the areas of trauma and tightness without causing pain. He also did some stretching which I thought was great. Id say his massages are a combo of a typical massage and physical therapy and some eastern medicine attunement. At least in my experience. He remembered me the second time I had him and it was so encouraging to have him comment on the healing he could feel since last time. He remembered. My facial was amazzzinnggggg and Im really glad I got add ons, the Lavender Foot Relief, Hand Remedy, and the Eye Firming Mask. My gosh the Lavender scent and my feet being all cozy warm while Im getting my facial, life changing! My toes usually get a little cold, so this made the whole experience exponentially more lovely! Multiple times during the facial Id again be so impressed by how fantastic all the products smelled. Music therapy, aroma therapy, touch therapy, I look younger and feel spiffy therapy. I got married last weekend and went to Nurture Nook for my first facial and my mom got her first massage ever. Neither of us knew what to expect and were a little bit anxious just because it was new. Basically soon as we went through the door we felt better. We were greeted by the owner Jen who was so peaceful and soothing, led us to our room and introduced us to our masseuse and esthetician. They explained everything and let us ask our plethora of questions. It was exactly what I needed. I felt so relaxed doing nothing. No wedding prep, no planning, no responding to messages, just listening to music and enjoying my facial. Mom also felt so relaxed and ready to face the rest of the day. The guy who did my mom's massage was so accommodating working around my mom's neck injury. Which is why she never had a massage before. I mean who doesn't love a spa day! The Nurture Nook was the perfect location to spend my ditch work day! I had gotten a gift certificate for the Nurture Nook from my dad two Christmas' ago (oops) and I finally called in and set up my appointment. The Nook was definitely giving serenity as I saw people enjoying the garden and gazebo around the back. Although parking options seemed slim I was able to easily find a space. When I walked in the first thing in noticed was that customer experience is at the top of the list. There were signs that reminded those entering to keep a low voice as others enjoyed their time. The receptionist was very kind and got the paperwork to me right away. I got the mini spa sampler which included a foot soak, massage and a facial. The massage was perfect. All of the areas I specified were addressed in full. The therapist was very kind and checked in with pressure points. Nothing felt rushed and I felt comfortable enough to fully relax. The Nurture Nook Day Spa is located in a cute little house in Murfreesboro. As I entered, I was greeted by a staff member and led down the hallway to their spa shop which is where they check the clients in and you give them the two forms they ask you to complete about yourself and your preferences for the service(s). They sell a lot of the products they use in the sessions which is nice if you want to pick anything up after your appointment. After I was checked-in I was then led to a small waiting room. The masseuse came to get me and let me to probably the largest room I've ever had for a massage, but it was very nice. I had a gift certificate for the "It's Divine" package which included a 30 minute massage, a hand and food scrub, and a mini-express facial. This was a nice trio to get a taste of a few different things. I think I would've preferred just an hour-long massage but if you're not sure what you would like the best then this is a good bet. I had two staff members for the three services and both were good. They were both really respectful of what I had asked for and honored what I had told them about sensitivities, etc. I would come back if this spot was closer to me, but I live in Nashville so it is a bit of a trek. I really wanted to like this place. The ladies were super nice and accommodating. However, the massage was a lot of rubbing with little to no help with getting any knots out. I asked for the firm massage and it really felt it was more of a soothing rub. I purchased the Nourish me package and did not realize I never got the herbal hand exfoliation until after I left. I'm not sure what happened and maybe they forgot which package it was. The worst was really yet to come. The next day my face and neck started reacting to whatever was used during the facial. I got bumps all over and it started itching and swelling. They sent me a survey asking for my experience and I mentioned about my face troubles after the treatment and all that was said back was "got it. Thanks for the feedback". I think my feedback is to at least be concern about what happen and try to help fix my face. Now I need to go to the dermatology and spend more than I paid them for the treatment to fix my face. This place is so cute and very welcoming once you first walked in. Was welcomed with a greeting and then talked to the estitician on what kind of facial I was needing or wanting. I went with the oxygen facial bc I wanted more of a relaxing experience. I was not disappointed at all, it felt so good and my skin was so radiant after my facial. I bought a Groupon for a massage and facial. Absolutely loved both. The massage was great. It wasn't the best massage I had ever had, but it helped me relax and I felt very comfortable with the massage therapist. The facial was great too. I have to say that I, at the time I was there, wished I had received more of a deep cleansing type of facial. However, my skin looked amazing for weeks afterward. Normally I tend to break out or get dry and my skin felt smooth and simply wonderful after this one. I will be going back for sure. Terrific experience. STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! I went here for a simple facial. Instead, my face was marred. The aesthetician doing the facial tried to perform an extraction on a pox mark I've had on my check since infancy. I had no idea what she was doing as I had watery cotton pads on my eyes (because the first set of cotton pads she put on my eyes were not filled with water but contained rubbing alcohol!) When I complained of the pain she told me what she was doing to my cheek and I said, "I've that that chicken pox scar on my face since I was a baby ; it's NOT a zit!" She apologized, but the damage had been done. She traumatized my skin so badly that I developed a cyst on my cheek. The healing process has taken over a year!!! After visiting 3 dermatologists, undergoing painful shots in my cheek, and having a noted Nashville dermatologist make it worse, I had to undergo facial surgery from a board-certified plastic surgeon. After my surgery, I had to go through several rounds of painful laser treatments to try to hide the scar on my face. A simple $100 facial ended up costing me several thousand dollars in medical expenses, as well as months of anguish and agony. DO NOT GO HERE, PLEASE!!! (I'm including pictures below.) read more

The setting was cute and small kinda put me in mind of a place for "healing" but you will get what you need. I let them know areas I needed attention too most and she definitely delivered. The staff at the day spa are very nice! They are quiet and do not try to talk to you through the whole massage which is really nice when you need some quiet time. I would 100% recommend the staff care, even tho I do not feel like the actual massages were spectacular, very intermediate; my only complaint is the actual building. For the price, I feel like the building and environment are a let down. It's an old old house with old, dingy rugs and such and I feel like it takes away from the 'luxury day spa' title that I thought I was getting. I was expecting something more upscale, building and environment wise. Good for an hour massage or something. Just review other areas if you're looking for elegant. Hand and stone would be a better option for someone with really tight muscles and they do a better facial for cheaper. read more

I had previously been to The Nurture Nook on two occasions and both experiences were positive. The first time I went by myself to use a gift certificate for a 60 minute massage I received for Christmas. My experience was good enough that my wife and I decided to go back for a couples massage on Valentine's Day this past February. Our therapists were again very good and we had a nice experience. When we decided to hang around town for our vacation at the end of last month, we thought it would be nice to enjoy another couples massage at The Nurture Nook. When we arrived, we were greeted as we walked down the hallway by a therapist who was obviously relaxing, since she had a heating pad around her neck. Now, I understand that it is actually difficult to provide massages and that a heating pad may be needed, but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that therapist to be re-engergizing somewhere out of site since it appears quite unprofessional. We then rounded the corner to the receptionist area and, after being checked in, were guided to our seating area. My wife had to use the restroom so I waited by myself. While I waited, a therapist or assistant was in the room next door emptying some sort of basin holding water. It was terribly loud and did not go hand-in-hand with the "Tranquility Room" I was waiting in. When my wife came back a few minutes later she was in tears. One of the therapists made a comment to her that she was extremely offended by. She was upset to the point I could tell that she was not going to relax and enjoy her massage (which is the entire point of getting a massage) and so we left. On our way out I told the receptionist that I understood that people are typically charged the full amount if they cancel with less than 24 hours notice, and that I did not expect to see that charge show up since we arrived early and were "driven" away by the way we were handled upon arrival. We were not charged anything which was the only "positive" of the experience. As we where leaving, we booked an appointment with Blue River Canyon in Brentwood for the next day and had the wonderful and relaxing type of experience you should expect when you go to a spa. read more

NEVER AGAIN. My husband and I were taking advantage of our "staycation" and decided to get massages at what used to be our favorite place to get a massage in Murfreesboro. We arrived to our appointment early, and not even five minutes after being there, a therapist made an offensive comment to me in the hallway. I have never been so offended. I thought, "How random was that?" This place is very small, and I figured that the woman that made a comment was probably going to be either mine or my husband's therapist. We were scheduled to get a couple's massage and after that point, I couldn't relax because I was so upset. We explained to the front desk staff that we were sorry, but we weren't going to be able to stay for our appointment. Apparently they heard her make the comment to me as well because they apologized immediately without explanation and said that it wasn't a problem and that there would not be a service charge for a late cancellation. My husband received a call from the owner a few hours later and while she was apologetic, we will not be back. As a person that has worked in customer service for many years, I would never speak to a client the way I was spoken to and I will not be a patron of any business that allows such unprofessionalism. On another note from my previous review: We loved the therapists that we had in February 2011, Christy and Melissa, but after booking this most recent appointment at the Nurture Nook we found out that neither one of them work there any longer. These people are extremely professional and sweet, the place is calming, and the prices are totally reasonable for the quality of service. Awesome experience! First visit was through a Groupon received on Valentine's Day. Couldn't be more happy with my massage from Keona! My second visit was also through a gifted Groupon. Had a little trouble scheduling this one, because although I received it as a gift, I was told I couldn't use it without paying the difference of the service. Spoke to the owner about how I received it as a gift. Groupon policies didn't state that I had to be a "first time customer" but I completely understand that. Had my sister known that I had been at this location before, she wouldn't have purchased it. Fortunately, the owner allowed me to use it without having to pay the difference. Kudos! The service itself included a massage with hot oil and stones (sadly, I didn't receive the stones), a soy hand and foot cocoon, facial, and micro current facial lift. Massage by Keona is the best I have had in Murfreesboro!! Super pleased with her massages. She learns your body and knows which areas are your most tense. The soy cocoon is such a relaxing and necessary service for your hands and feet. I've never felt so much relief! My facial and micro current facial lift by Channing was great. She treats your face according to what your trouble areas are as well as your skin type. She also recommended additional products to help maintain your regimen. I will just start by saying they are not going to like this review. I was there almost 2 months ago now, so while normally i would have normally just said, forget it and not bothered, this experience was outstandingly poor enough to warrant a two-month-late review. I live in LA but visit Nashville more often now for work, to visit friends, etc. I have been getting facials consistently in LA for years and rarely to i go elsewhere. I have always looked at facials as a necessity, like exercise; I go for results, not merely to "relax" and be pampered. Don't get me wrong, pampering is great, but in my opinion secondary. My friend and i found a facial/massage combo from this business on Groupon and figured, what the heck? It's worth a try. First of all, no matter how good the deal seemed, the distance we had to drive from East Nashville was simply NOT worth it. We were very specific about what we were looking for when we called them and made the appointment, and they assured us that was what we would get. We were running a couple minutes behind but had allotted 2.5 hours for the appt - an hour facial and a 90 minute massage, which was an upgrade for an extra $30 from the 1 hr massage in the package. As soon as we got there the woman who gave us our intake forms made us feel rushed, basically telling us we were late and needed to hurry. I'm sorry, didn't we come here to relax? The facial lady takes me first. She seems nice enough. It's very relaxing. She puts stuff on my face and rubs it around, as well as immersing my hands and feet in hot bags of something or other. It's all well and good, but when nearing the end i ask her about the extractions (actually skin work) which we explicitly requested when booking the appointment. She tells me that because we ran late, that was the ONE THING she had to exclude from the treatment. An executive decision she had no right to make without consulting me, the patient paying for the treatment. I was no longer relaxed. The presumption here was flabbergasting, and i was getting pissed. Then instead of going straight in to my massage so i can stay on schedule for my plans afterwards, I am informed that there is a 15 minute waiting period between sessions, even though the gal doing my massage was not even with a prior client and could have taken me right away. I was not informed of this mandatory waiting period when we booked the appointment either. Sorry. But it gets better. So i go into the room with massage gal. She tells me whats going to happen, then leaves so i can get on the table. She's gone so long i do something I'll never do, which is check my phone to see what time it is, and realize i no longer have time for my 90 minute massage. She comes back in after something nearing 10 minutes and i inform her we will have to do a 1 hour instead, after which she has the audacity to tell me that I'M the reason we didn't start on time, after their stupid "between session relaxation" period, and the fact that I've been waiting for HER for 10 minutes!!!! Try having a relaxing massage after this bullshit? Her technique is bizzare, so again, having a hard time relaxing. At that point i just wanted to get out of there. I've also been getting monthly massages (as much as i can) for years, from people who really know what they're doing, and this was intermediate at best. By the way, after seeing how dissatisfied i was with how the facial turned out, that woman proceeded to pull the same crap on my friend, and just skip the extractions without informing or asking her in advance. Unbelievable!!!! We complained and they reduced the charge to my card; but the girl was new and didn't factor in the 40%? payment i had already made over the phone to reserve our spot. The discount also didn't factor in the fact that I'd gotten a one hour massage instead of 90 minutes. I called the business multiple times over the next couple weeks and left messages with both the receptionist and the machine and NEVER got a response from the owner. When i finally did reach her in person (because she just "happened" to pick up this time), she tried to JUSTIFY what had happened and why i wasn't entitled to a refund for the 30 extra minutes i did not get because of THEIR fuck up!!! Then when i kept insisting she reluctantly said she would refund it to my card. Guess what??? It was NEVER refunded to my card. I'm sorry, but the customer is always right; ESPECIALLY when the customer is RIGHT!!! Even if i lived in the neighborhood, i would NEVER go back there. Go to LOVESKIN in Nashville instead. We had to then pay to get facials again the same week, but it was actually worth it this time. read more

Bought a package for my girlfriend for her birthday. While she enjoyed the treatments she had an attendant who was overly chatty.....basically engaged her in conversation the entire time telling her life story and current updates . Unintentional on her part I'm sure but when someone is going for a treatment designed to relax you and cleanse your mind then hyper-conversation isn't exactly conducive to the experience. The massage was just OK, my shoulders and back were still killing me when I left so, waste of money there. Then... my facial.... the most awkward hour of my life. I've had many facials before and none like this. She didn't say ONE WORD the entire time making it extremely awkward and I was not able to relax at all. She also did not use the microcurrent facial tool that was a part of the Groupon I purchased. After my facial for about a WEEK, my face itched and my skin was so rough. It hurt so bad. I asked her to use sensitive skin products on me and I have no idea what she did but my face was not back to normal for a month. I will NEVER be back. read more

But my guess it that that employee must not work here anymore, because my fiancee and I have never had anything but good experiences from the staff here. Everyone has been kind and funny and attentive. I think they offer a discount for first time guests, so ask about that. As for the normal prices they are average for spa services. The staff is above average. My fiancee and I had foot massages and the therapists were really funny and attentive. My fiancee enjoyed bantering with them. The foot massage was good enough that we scheduled a couples "learn how to massage each other" session two months later. The couples massage was good. There was a little too much new age "feel your partner's energy waves without touching" "express yourself through hand gestures without speaking" (we had fun with that one to the therapists exasperation. lol) But when you got down to the techniques it did teach us some things we didn't know and help us discover how the other liked to be massaged. As for their tranquility room that you sit in before your treatment, we really enjoyed it. It is beside the Checkout area, but you can close the door and it really makes it feel secluded. we didn't hear any disturbing sounds and there was soothing music playing in the background. The owner even brought us complimentary tea to enjoy until our service started. They offer a lot of different services such as regular massage, some steam room treatments, a honey wrap, four handed massage, scrubs, rubs, and scents and sinus treatments. Upset and frustrated (we were sooo looking forward to some pampering), I called Nurture Nook to see if they had ANY openings for a massage. The lady who answered the phone was so nice, understanding and helpful. She was able to book us for a 60 minute couple's massage the next morning!!! :) We were so happy to have a reservation, but our true bliss came with the massage!! We both thought they were probably the best massages we had ever received! We left feeling GREAT!!! I would highly recommend Nurture Nook for your next massage. The reviews on yelp were mostly positive and I decided to purchase the Groupon. They were able to book me an appointment at the last minute. My experience was beyond what I expected. The place was neat and clean. The staff were courteous and nice. My therapist Sharon Brown was awesome. I nearly fell asleep during my massage.
