Its a very strange atmosphere. I dont think they like newcomers to their pub. You can see that everyone in there is a regular, as they all knew eachother. When i walked in, there was almost a silence and everyone was looking at me and my friends, as if we had stumbled across a private meeting between an MI5 officer and an informant. The pub looks like a hut has been placed on a slab of concrete, and they decided to call it a pub. The great beer garden consists of 2 benches, even though there is alot of space outside. Not too great for some privacy either, as there are no walls or confined spaces outside. They do ,however, have quite a range of beers and ales at pirces that are standard to East London. There are a few other pubs in Canning Town that i would recommend ahead of this. In fact, i wouldnt recommend this place at all. Not unless you know someone that goes here regularly. The only thing i can think of that is good about this pub is that there is a McDonalds across the road.

However you cannot say that the people thought you were different or weird, as many international people visit the pub traditionally, including Liverpudlian, Scottish, Irish, Lithuanian, Russian and West Indian. The pub has kept its foundations the same, which keeps the old fashioned homey feeling about it. The interior is beautiful, with small spotlights flowing throughout the pub and many comfortable seats around the pub and many stools at the bar and outside there are are numerous benches which overlook the traffic along the heart of canning town, believe me you will never be left standing. The music in the pub is played at a very low volume, which means you don't have to raise your voice just to ask for a drink. However, on a sunday afternoon, on the stage inside the pub, there is live music. Brilliant singers take to the stage, and leave you singing along or dancing the night away. A great way to finish the night, listening to the music of a talented performer. You will not only be served rapidly, you will be served by a warm welcoming tender who will talk to you personally, like they have known you for years which is nice and makes you feel comfortable. On saturdays and sundays, there is a seafood stool outside which is owned by two of the satisfied regulars of the pub. Why not sit outside with a cool refreshing pint and a pot of whelks?, luxury. There are many different variety's of beers and ales, spirits, wines and soft drinks. Also, there are free snacks which are freshly placed onto the bar regularly, this includes cheese and Ritz crackers, roast potatoes, sausages, bowls of crisps and peanuts. Lovely place to visit and would definitely recommend to families, a group of friends or anybody who fancies a few pints and a nice old chin-wag.

When it turned up, it was a tiny fatty slab of overcooked meat (see the picture). I decided to bring it up to the bar to ask if this was the normal portion of meat for an £18.50 roast dinner. I was told: "It's an expensive pub, what do you expect?" I was a bit shocked, and then also pointed out the flat Yorkshire pudding. Without apology, I was told: "If you don't like it, I'll give you a refund" I took the refund, and was glad I did so. My friends reported that the roast potatoes were rock hard, the meat was overcooked and fatty and that that I was lucky to have got my money back. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

It has benches and booths all over so there is plenty of seating with funky little strip lights and 'light bulbs' hanging from the trees. There's also an undercover area, an open fire pit, a food hut and a sound system that goes into the booths to really bring the indoor/outdoor experience together. There's a micro brewery on site and although we didn't taste it, the roast looked amazing! We are definitely planning a pit stop here after a wander around the park on a lovely sunny day!
