Went there in the afternoon soon after opening time and had no trouble getting up unlike other reviews, as it was simply a side door from Mondrian's lobby and there was no queue. All of the inside seating was for reservations but a few bar stools were first come first serve. The outside balcony is narrow but the top to bottom glass gives you an amazing view of the Thames and beyond. Amazing view! Perhaps not as extensive as Sky Garden but it had a intimate feel to it. Cocktails were really good albeit a little pricey but that's pretty much to be expected in a place like that. My main complaint given that it's a such a nice place is that there's no service outside, instead you have to go to the bar and get your drinks. read more

Date of visit: 17.05.18 Time: 20.26 "Great views and service with a nice vibe" The area around the hotel is a bit out of the way, however when you walk in and take the lift up you are transported into 5 star luxury and make your to the outdoor terrace to be hit by some great views. The hotel itself is also special and has some great design to it so I must stay over one day and do a full review, they also have a resturant so will look to review that next time as well. The bar offers a good selection of drinks and snacks and although busy you go to a special section where you can be served very promptly without waiting or needing to shout or trying to get the bar staff attention. There is a DJ but music is not too loud and just right. The outside terrace maybe small and narrow but you have to go for the view, not to be missed. Bar staff friendly and served quickly and able to make mocktails as requested. I will be looking to go again for sure. There is a coat and bag check area so worth making use of this as the bar does get busy so this is the easiest way to keep everything safe. What makes this venue so Amazon is the panoramic view even from the entrance with the skyline of London. A dark room with sleek 'old classic' interior and contemporary designs pieces. Dark red leather seating and black glass coffee tables bring in a good sense of old and new well in balance. The stunning fireworks lights in the middle of the rectangular room gives it dimension. The DJ playing old school hip hop classics with latest deep house hits rounds up the feeling of being with the 'in crowd'. The impeccable table service, friendly yet professional reception makes the entire experience feel like you are one of the 'work had play hard' professionals coming for a corporate night. A great mix of internationals and locals who appreciate design and novel long new experimental urban leisure. This place offers it at its best. Worth a visit every time. A friend mentioned this would be a 'nice' place for a drink and views and it definitely delivered! The bar is lushly decorated in a modern way, it's light and airy with large windows and high ceilings which give it a sense of openness. Underneath, this is contrasted with subtle lighting and dark round sofas for intimacy. On the occasions I've been, there has been a band who's music can be heard in outdoor balcony area which is wonderful for checking out the stunning views over the river and the City. Their drinks list is long with a good variety of gins and whiskeys. The cocktail list isn't long but all are commendable. Although the way in is a little hard to find, persevere through the hotel lobby and you will be well rewarded, I've really enjoyed coming here! read more

TLDR; This is an upscale cocktail bar with good cocktails. I took off one star because we had some trouble "getting in". Pros: - Delicious cocktails and mocktails. - Posh vibe and atmosphere. - The music was OK, depending on your taste. The DJ played some 2000s pop/R&B and old school hip hop while we were there. People started dancing a bit toward midnight - 1 am. Cons: - View is OK, not as impressive as Sky Garden. - You have to reserve and the security downstairs was a bit weird about it when we didn't have a booking. My friend and I showed up here at 10:30 pm on Saturday night. The security guy downstairs said the bar was "full" and we couldn't go up without reservation. So we asked if we could wait until something freed up. The guy wasn't very enthusiastic about it and instead pointed us to the lobby bar. Mind you, we took an Uber here from Soho and there wasn't any other option around. So we said we would wait. We had sat down for less than five minutes when the guy said we could go up. I was quite confused about the fact that he was so eager to turn us away. There was no line or anything so it must have not been that busy upstairs. Judging from all this requirement about having to make reservations, I thought there was going to be a hostess to seat people. But that wasn't the case. It seemed like people could just take up any seats that were free. The seats were full but the place wasn't that crowded, there was still plenty of room. They should put in more standing tables to accommodate guests. All in all, it was a nice place to enjoy some cocktails but the business about getting in and seated was a bit confusing and unsettling. read more

I love, love, love this place! I've been living near the area for a few years but just discovered this gem recently because my friends stayed in this hotel and I met them here one night for drinks and boy am I glad I did. First - the ambiance is really sexy with white lights everywhere, plush couches, surrounded by stunning views of London, particularly St Paul's - what's not to love?? The drinks are fabulous and refreshing (however the servings are small for what you pay for - that would be my only critique), the wait staff is friendly and fast, which is good because this place is always packed. Also, there's generally live music and if not, a DJ, which makes this place a hot spot. I am absolutely coming back here again, and very soon! read more

People seem to rarely venture south of the river Thames these days for a night out in London. Rumpus rooms is surely a reason to change all that. Situated on the top floor of the Mondrian hotel where you can also find the fantastic Sea Containers restaurant and the award winning Dandelyon cocktail bar, you'll find Rumpus rooms. As you walk through the darkened corridors you are suddenly and unexpectedly greeted with the stunning view from all sides of the view over London, with the River Thames on the left and the south of London on your right. The seating is comparable to what you may find in an exclusive high end nightclub - maroon coloured sofas in the centre of the room fit perfectly with the subtle lighting. There is a stage area in the centre which plays host to some regular performances however on the Tuesday night we visited we weren't lucky enough to experience any live music. The staff are genuinely excited to greet all their clientele and the service is fantastic. The menu boasts an incredible array of champagnes and spirits. You can help but feel a sense of warmth sitting at a table in rumpus rooms - it's not at all an in your face venue but a classically decorated area that you'd quite frankly not want to ever have to leave. With the breathtaking views over the city, stunning interior design and great drinks selection this venue has to be visited at least once on a night out in the city. read more

The phrase 'unrivalled views over London' gets bandied about far too much for it to always be true with all the towers springing up around the city. Rumpus Room certainly has the unique factor working in its favour though, simply for the breadth of the view you get from its prime spot on the roof of the new Mondrian Hotel. Even if it's too chilly to go out onto the terrace (as it sadly was the other night) the feature windows that run the entire length of the room offer an unbroken panorama of the north riverbank's skyline from wherever you are in the bar. Sure it doesn't have the height of the Shard but nor do you have to fight for window space to see anything. It's a view I've not seen before plus I'm a sucker for a good sunset, and we got a picture perfect view of both the westerly pink skies and their reflections in the Walkie-Talkie and other towers to the east. The setting inside the bar is lush with red leather banquettes and quirky starburst-shaped lamps overhead that blends a vaguely 20s theme with the present day. I was there to back up a friend at her colleague's bday drinks - slightly random I know but his choice of bar piqued my curiosity! He'd reserved an area at the far end of the bar and appeared to know the waiters by name by the time we arrived. There was a couple of them looking after his area for the night and they were both refreshingly down-to-earth (and wearing awesome glasses - maybe it's a pre-requisite to work here?!) as they could easily have been much snootier for such a high-end place. Though there was a comedy moment after I ordered a glass of bubbles from one of them on arriving, and he returned unable to recognise me because I'd taken my coat off... (Him: Where's that lady gone? Me: It was me. Him: There was a pretty girl right here a minute ago... Me: It was really me. Him: *looks at me properly* Ohhh!). The route to the bar from the hotel entrance is non-obvious but just head for the lifts and enjoy the plush deep-pile carpets on the way. Cocktails start around the £12 mark as you'd expect for the location, but the champers is their specialty (as I taste-tested and can confirm). It's an altogether very classy setting with an in-house DJ and great service, and even without the rest of it I just liked saying the name Rumpus! read more

Can I just say this view has to be the best in the entire city of London. The tames river and skyline scenery is hands down gorgeous. The waitresses floral dresses are stunning and classy. Customer service was attentive. Bar was busy and had live music. Appetizers were delicious. This is not just your ordinary hotel bar. Bravo. read more
