Stay away from The Oregon Clinic. Their business/billing department is an unprofessional quagmire. They over bill, they harass & then threaten the customer with collections instead of contacting the insurance provider that they THE OREGON CLINIC HAS A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT with. The Oregon Clinic has a structured fee schedule with in network insurance companies, the insurance carrier will only pay for fees that have been negotiated per their contract. When a patient receives an insurance EOB identifying that they are responsible for payment of a negotiated amount, the customer is legally required to pay that amount. It is then The Oregon Clinics responsibility to contact the insurance company to negotiate any additional fees outside of their contractual agreement. I will never step foot in an Oregon Clinic facility again. Once was enough. I have also informed my family practitioner not to refer patients to The Oregon Clinic. I had a procedure performed, it took them 5 months to invoice me, and paid it promptly. The Oregon Clinic is now threatening me with collections for their over charges. I received a bill from the Oregon clinic this morning. It was from an appt I had in 2024. When I called them to see why I was just getting this bill today they said they had some "trouble getting authorization fully from my insurance (employers insurance). Its been over 16 months since my appt and I can no longer use my FSA for this bill- through no fault of my own. The Oregon Clinic gave me to other options and will send me to collections if I don't pay in 90 days. I was seen by Dr Miller for a urinary issue. He prescribed a couple of medications Neither of them were working after a week I sent a message to them and was answered 3 days later. I was informed then that the meds take at least a month to work. After 3 months I am still having issues sent another message which took 4 days to answer. They made an appointment for me then not 10 minutes later called me and said they no longer take my insurance. Then they had no referrals for me and basically said I'm on my own. So very unprofessional office staff and a very arrogant doctor. Choose wisely read more

A traffic jam caused my 92 year old mother to be 15 minutes late for an audiology appointment with Dr. Philip King. She was told by reception that there is a (unposted) rule that providers don't have to see patients if they are 10 minutes late. No signage regarding this rule. The receptionist asked Dr. King if he would see her, and HE REFUSED, forcing her to reschedule the appointment and hire another driver for the following week. The actual appointment took less than 5 minutes. Audiology patients are primarily seniors; getting to appointments is not an easy thing. The number of HOURS she has spent in waiting rooms at the Oregon Clinic waiting for the physician has never been acknowledged. We'll be changing to different practice that is PATIENT FOCUSED. read more

I went to pick up my pulmonary testing equipment. The woman at the front desk was adamant that I sign paperwork without explaining my rights. When I asked her questions, she couldn't answer and kept insisting I sign first. I refused and called the advice nurse in the same department, who was able to answer my questions. After getting clarification, I returned to the front desk and said I had decided to proceed. They made me wait. Then, another staff member came out with the equipment and was just as rude as the first. The service here is terrible. Am I wrong for simply asking logical questions? Met with Dr. Jiang, urology, to discuss various prostate procedures. He told me at the start to take all the time I needed. He gave me in depth info, answered questions, told me to contact him by phone or message if I had more. A few days later I did call and my call was returned promptly. We discussed my fears, risk for a second procedure and he helped make my decision-HOLEP. Did also message and received quick response. Surgery was done, he figuratively held my hand both before and after. At no time was he in a hurry. He listened and gave input which was not technical. Was charged $511 dollars for a 15 minute consult to learn about an elective surgery. Had to wait over an hour after my appointment time, the surgeon was rushing the entire consult (I got two questions in), the office never followed up as they promised to schedule the surgery. The office coded the consult as "moderately complex" I assume as their default CPT code and likely overcharges EVERYONE who goes for a minor consult. This place is a money grab, I suspect people should only go if they are actually getting a procedure. Do NOT use this place for any kind of actual consultation service. read more

My insurance, Providence, sent me to The Oregon Clinic neurosurgery located at St Vincent Hospital in Portland Oregon. It took about 2 months to get an appointment. They said prior to my 1PM appointment on July 1, 2024, they wanted me to come in at 11:30 to get a special x-ray. They said they would order it. The last week of June, I contacted Covid. I tried to call the clinic on both Thursday and Friday and after holding for 30 minutes, I hung up. There was no way to leave a message - nothing. As I was now in the after Covid stage, I went in at 11:30 for my x-ray. They had no order for me to have an x-ray. They tried to call The Oregon Clinic and after them waiting 15 minutes, I went up to their office to find out what was going on. I told them. They asked if I had been around anyone with Covid in the past 10 days - I said, "yes, me." They wanted me to get out of their office. I said fine, but that I wanted to make another appointment. The manager went back and was told I should call in 20 days (when I was sure I would be Covid free) to make another appointment that would take another 2 months to get. I said, no, I wanted to make my next appointment now. They threatened to call security!!! Everyone who works behind the desk is new. They said, staff keeps quitting. I can see why. It is the most despicable clinic I have ever gone to. I will be asking Providence for a new referral to a different neurosurgeon. read more

Initial experience was positive. Dr. Hardin explained things well. Issues stated when I called the Oregon Clinic prior to scheduling the surgery. I asked what the surgery would cost me and they quickly came back with an answer. $150. I agreed to the quote, paid the $150 and scheduled the surgery for a few weeks later. When I arrived for my surgery appointment I was asked if I'd be paying the 970 some odd dollars now. Being in a heighted stated of anxiety for my 1st significant surgery I explained that I'd already asked how much the surgery would cost me and paid the $150 that I was told was my cost for the surgery. The intake person said that this other expense was the facility fee. I should have cancelled right then and there. Because I wanted to get the surgery over with I asked to make payments over time. I asked how small it could be broken down into. The intake person asked if it was ok to break it down into 2 payments. I asked repeatedly if it could be broken down into more payments and was presented with several options of 2 payments. Finally after checking with someone in the back they said they could do 3 payments. I agreed. The intake nurse (different from the intake person referenced before) was doing her 1st day apparently. She was quite nice and had a great bedside manner. When I got into the OR I recall the anesthesiologist wasn't happy with how my IV was taped. His bedside manner was quite gruff. Reminded me of Roy Kent. I remember him saying something about me going to sleep and the next thing I remember is waking up in recovery with a sore throat. I was not consulted on how I would be under anesthesia. I understand that I was intubated but not sure why as my understanding is that intubation isn't the only option and is rather invasive. My time in recovery seemed short to me but apparently I had been awake prior to being conscious. Once they verified that I was able to actually urinate (under super vision) I was pretty unceremoniously escorted out of the facility. The recovery area was not as warm as the intake. My recovery seemed to go better than I was personally expecting based on no previous experience. My post-op visit 2 weeks later was not the same experience as my original consult. I let the surgeon know of a concern I had which had not yet fully resolved. She did examine the area of my concern and stated she didn't detect any issues. Her post-op reported noted my concern but also noted it was fully resolved which is was not. I had also mentioned to her that I did not see any kind of report in the patient portal concerning the actual surgery. She said it was there and to call back if it didn't show up. I did have to reach out again to get the report which did appear. I received a letter from my insurance stating I may be asked to pay close to $2,000. A couple of weeks later I did receive another bill from the Oregon clinic asking for another almost $900 and another bill from the Anesthesiology Group asking for another $100. This seems rather outlandish to me since I'd called the Oregon Clinic before making my appointment and asked what this would cost me and being told it would be $150. Not $150 plus another $1000 as a facility fee and another $1000 for something else and another $100 for anesthesia. I called the Oregon Clinic, rather upset. I talked with Brittny who mostly listened to what I'd said and started to reply rather dispassionately about why I owed the money (not admitting that tOC had any fault here). Her reply upset me even more. I used some colorful language, not insulting her or tOC, but apparently she was too offended to deal with me any more and stated she wouldn't talk with me further and I'd have to call back later and ask for a manager. My experience in general is that when you're told that something will cost you X and you agree to X that Y and Z aren't applicable. If you're told something will cost you X and that Y and Z may also be on the horizon and you agree to that then you're taking on that responsibility. I was not told about Y and Z initially. I should have cancelled when they told me about Y when I was checking in for surgery and told about Z weeks later. Then confronting them about this they have the audacity to be indifferent and be offended at my outrage? At this point, The Oregon Clinic is a place I will not willingly do business with again. As far as I'm concerned they have either incompetent staff or shady business practices. I cannot image that this is legal. I'll be speaking with a lawyer and I'll be contacting my state legislature. read more

The clinic called today to make an appointment and most of the providers only do telemedicine. Wy do they go into patient care if they don't want to do any in person care? We decided that I would be put on the waiting list, because I want an in-person appointment. Another thing I want to note is when I had my colonoscopy there, they gave me an anesthesia that put me to sleep. My 80 year old cousin with mobility issues was expected to help me to the car afterwards. The nurse didn't provide any assistance which is unsafe care. Oregon Clinic over-billed me by about $300. When I caught the error, I reported it to them in late November and got a quick response over vm that a refund was requested. I waited a month and called again to find out there was no record of a request but that they would start one (mid-Dec). I just called them (early January) to find out that there has been no request to refund me but that they would start that now. I guess I should have come here for reviews BEFORE my 2020 surgery. Color me surprised to have the sheriff knocking at my door to bring me a collections notice that I was being sued by the out-of-network anesthesiologist they used for my operation. I went into this whole thing as (what I thought) an insured patient. Several financial discussions between my consult and surgery that coincided with my (what we thought was still active) insurance at the time. We were on a Covid furlough and suspected coverage would be ending at some point but were waiting for OHP or cobra to start. They claimed my appointments and surgery were authorized - insurance was good, we discussed the 10% that I would be responsible for etc. Well ALLLLLLL OF THAT WAS A LIE. My insurance authorized NOTHING because it was already ended. So here I am with a bunch of surprise bills and a pending judgement a couple years later. Come to find out, Providence wrote off well over 13k to charity when they couldn't bill my insurance and in the itemized list of things they wrote off, it included anesthesia and all the drugs and the mesh itself. So why are The Oregon Clinic and their anesthesia cohorts sending me to collections??????? They are scam artists! I will simply share my experience and let you decide if Oregon Clinic cares about people. I saw one of their physicians, Dr. Richard, a urologist the week prior to diagnosis of kidney stones. Following a painful experience, I immediately got in to discuss operation. From there, we were going to schedule operation in two days. In other words, it was deemed to be considerably urgent. Then it was quickly learned after two consultations that although my insurance covers him as my doctor, it does not cover the hospitals that he conducts operation. Apparently this comes up very rarely. So here I am- a patient that obviously needs surgery that is at risk of condition significantly worsening to the point that would be very problematic. Oregon Clinic made no attempts to discuss with my insurance to look for any alternatives to get around what is said to be a unique issue with not being covered. They simply told me that I need to find another doctor which is not an easy process at this stage. They made no attempts to try and see to it that I am still treated as soon as possible with the given circumstances. The moment they figured out that the insurance and their $$$ was in question, was the moment that I seemed to not be any of their concern. My has been disheartening and a reminder how driven people are with money. Ethics were definately drawn into question as far as my concern. read more

If I could give a 100 Stars I would. . . .Gastroenterology West at SW Barnes Road. My husband and I have been going to this office for many, many years. They found my husband's esophageal cancer early back in 2010. And even with the after effects of covid, and huge changes this office is still the best. I started seeing Dr. Williams back in maybe 2014 (since my other doctor retired) and she is so professional, friendly, and the best gastroenterologist I've seen. She always listens, and makes sure that I'm receiving the best care for me. I just saw her again on May 1st, and she is still the professional, caring, and friendly person. And I state this because of the changes in our medical fields; due to so many professionals leaving for different reasons. I had to call today for a medical concern and spoke with Tre, and Nicole. I couldn't ask for anything more from these staff members. Excellent!!! Again, thank you for your time and caring. People, please be kind to our caregivers, whether it's the scheduler, nurse, and/or doctor. They are humans just like us who are trying to care for us in a world that has been turned upside down. Yes, everywhere there are staffing shortages but they are truly doing the best allowed. Be kind and decent to each other. read more

I have not had the best experience here so far. I was referred to a specialist at the clinic for a specific procedure with no additional information given to me by my primary care doctor (at another clinic) other than two print-outs. I arrived, very nervous and anxious (and practically dragged there by my husband), and was given two consent forms - because all of a sudden; I was doing two procedures. No additional financial information was provided to me; I was expected to hear a brief description and move forward. A follow-up ultrasound appointment was asked of me, and I went to the front and scheduled that appointment. About two weeks later, I receive a call from the nurse assistant saying that they want to schedule me for a more extensive procedure - again, only a brief phone conversation is describing the procedure. I ask if they still want me to follow through with an ultrasound and she sounded unsure. After confirming that I should proceed, I wait for that upcoming appointment. Come to find out as I arrive at my appointment, I'm having TWO different ultrasound procedures done (with of course, two financial price tags in addition to the ultrasound diagnosis reading). The gal I worked with was FABULOUS (the only real reason there are 2 stars and not 1 - I would give her 5 stars). She was compassionate and gentle and we connected right away. She let me know I should hear results back in about a week. Three weeks (!) later, after leaving a message with the clinic insisting on a consultation and to hear the results, I get a rushed call from the nurse's assistant to schedule a consultation. I arrive at my consult to find I have a fairly size-able copay (should I expect anything different at this point?). The doctor seemed to try to understand my frustration as I relayed my experience; and I felt like hopefully she will be technically sound as a surgeon for my [hopefully] final procedure, but her bedside manner is very lacking. I'm in the process of evaluating whether it is worthwhile to seek a second opinion and researching more about the procedure and different doctors - because at the very least I want to feel like I'm being treated with understanding and compassion for my heightened anxiety - but I feel more like a factory number when I am there. If you decide to visit this clinic; be prepared to be a strong advocate for yourself, both financially and medically, and be prepared for a lack of communication with the whole team. read more

I was referred by my family doctor to see Dr. Kaynard at the Oregon Clinic West (Gastroenterology West) as my gastroenterologist on January 25th, and Dr. Kaynard recommended I get a gastroscopy; meantime, I got a letter from the Oregon Clinic West which stated that the estimated out-of-pocket cost would range between $748-940 (including my deductible which was $750) and I went to my gastroscopy. Following the procedure, I got a bill of $1,200 which I paid, and then the doctor wanted a follow-up with me; I called the billing department and they estimated that the total cost I would be paying out of pocket for the follow-up was $500-600, as I had already paid my deductible. However, when I received my bill for the follow-up, the total cost came up to $110.72, not including the $122 anesthesia fee and the $94.93 diagnostic fee, meaning I have to pay $1328.50 for the follow up of gastroscopy, which was supposed to cost from $500-600, more than double the price. When I called my insurance, they informed me I had been overcharged for the follow-up. I spoke to the billing department over the phone asking for a breakdown of the costs and they again told me the total cost would be $1328.50 (including the anesthesia and pathology fee), they told me when I called them last Friday that the medical fee is going up after January, but why didn't they tell me when I asked for the estimating? If I had known it would be this expensive, I wouldn't have gone to the follow-up at all, this is way beyond my price range, how could they charge approximately $7000 for a follow-up gastroscopy? the Gastroenterology West was dishonest, they told me one price and charged me another. if I could give this clinic zero stars I would, please don't go to this clinic, they just want your money. read more

I did not feel that I was actually listened to at my first appointment. The physician handed back vital historic surgical reports without reviewing them, and came up with a game plan. I did what was asked to include a colonoscopy. But after a week long prep for this colonoscopy which included soft and liquid diet and double the prep meds, which I paid for and took, taking a day off of work, getting a driver to take a day off from work, and a 2 hour drive, they decided to cancel my colonoscopy while I was in the prep bay, in a gown, because the anesthesiologist was uncomfortable doing the procedure for an issue that was IN MY CHART. An issue for which I've had 6 surgical procedures since the discovery, but has not been an issue. They could and should have done a chart review prior to me showing up! How many other patients have they done this to? An issue no other anesthesiologist has had an issue with in the past decade. An issue that 2 separate cardiologists have decided to do nothing about. I am beyond livid with the fact that they cancelled me at the time of the procedure instead of in advance. If this Is the way they do business, standing in the way of a surgical procedure I need to have, after a long prep I needed on the road to that surgery, then please know, they will not be on the list for any reschedule in the future.. piss poor planning on their behalf, when chart review could have been done in advance and saved a multitude of inconveniences. The funny thing, my BP wasn't even addressed before I left.. which was abnormally high due to multiple factors, but not the reason I was cancelled. They even reported the lower of the two taken, without mention of the original of 163/106, which wasn't even the reasonI was cancelled... I've never worked in a medical office in which it wasn't at least addressed. But to only report the slightly lower one in my chart, is a no go in any facility I've worked for. The whole experience.. The worst billing I have ever encountered, received a bill with a closing date of December 8th showing I owed 119.20. That bill was paid and the check cleared the bank on NOVEMBER 25th. When I called the person was extremely rude, would not speak directly into the phone which made it very hard to hear her- yet I could hear all the background noise. She offered no apology or viable excuse. This has happened before on a more complex bill and they argued and said I was wrong. Months later after an "audit" I received a refund, no apology. I believe they do this on purpose, I believe their billing practices are fraudulent on purpose. Pretty freaking awful. They will not be reliable on scheduling, call backs, information they promise to send, or even making sure they are working within your insurance. I am lucky I caught that they tried to send me for imaging to a place OUTSIDE my network. I have been trying to get a series of simple tests run and 3 months of phone tag, getting sent to the wrong place, not having them follow through with sending paperwork, and I am still without ANY answers on my original complaint. I haven't even seen the results of the tests ran two months ago as it has been such a pain to try and get the last test done before review with the dr. I see many complaints in the reviews about The Oregon Clinic not being diligent with insurance and I agree. I went to the dermatology clinic for what I found out was a serious skin condition after having to wait three months only to be turned away because I have a really bad breathing problem -- had it for years and years long before covid -- and like George Floyd, I really can't breathe after a few minutes wearing a mask over my nose. By far the worst clinic I have ever been to!!! I was seen for less than 15 min and presented with a 1500 dollar bill for nothing. Basically just a consultation. My doctor looked like a 12 year old fresh out of med school and had no idea what he was doing. This place is garbage, avoid it at all costs!!! I was referred to the Oregon GI clinic about a year ago and have had nothing but bad experiences. I have been dealing with IBD for 17 years now and know that all this clinic cares about is pocketing money. I'm in the process of switching to a new clinic now so they have denied me a refill of a medicine I've been taking for 3 years knowing that I am in dire need of this. They have charged me for every possible thing you can imagine. I was charged $25 for a doctor note for my work, I was charged $30 to have my files faxed to the new doctor. My checkup bills were OUTRAGEOUSLY over priced compared to phenomenal doctor care I have received in California. There is also a special $200 charge on their bills to see the actual doctor who never spent more than 5 minutes with me. I have been dealing with the most extreme symptoms I've experienced in these 17 years to be flat out told "it's in your head and we won't be writing any prescriptions for pain killers because we don't believe in them." I've been out of work for 2 weeks and in and out of the ER yet they're refusing to refill my medications. Thank god for a primary care doctor who actually cares about my health and well being! If I could give this clinic ZERO stars I would. Please don't waste your time or money at this clinic, they will never invest in your health. Never ever trust that you will receive a return call from this clinic. The doctors may be wonderful but the support staff is absolutely overwhelmed and unavailable for patients. I've never experienced less than a 20 minute wait time on hold and I've never received a phone call back from this office I have waited for a call for over 30 days before advocating for myself. If you need pre-authorization from your insurance- you must advocate for yourself and call repeatedly. If your insurance is out of state you must contact your insurance company for the office to supply them with the appropriate contact information to submit for pre-auth. Do not expect the clinic to contact you upon approval. The nursing staff will not return your calls. The health office staff will not return your calls. The office manager January Galloway will not return your calls. Do not be a patient at this clinic if you are not prepared to spend hours of time advocating for yourself.
