The staff here are extremely helpful and nice. There is a good selection of flavors. Carmel, Cheese, 50/50 of each, Buffalo, Chocolate Kettle and more. In addition to the popcorn they Carry a variety Chocolates, Fudge, ice cream and Candies. We bought some popcorn, chocolates and candies as gifts and some for ourselves. We were here once before and only tried the popcorn. We tried the chocolate this time. I've never seen Dark Chocolate Salted Toffee before and they are delicious. read more

I was lured by the Siren song of "It's Caramel Apple time!" Yes, yes it is, indeed. So before Justin and I left Decatur, where we'd been for a work thingy, we headed over to Del's Popcorn Shop & Confectionery so I could enjoy my favorite Fall treat, the caramel apple. Damn. Folks in Decatur sure love their Del's. The place was like Garrett's on a Saturday, only on a Decatur scale (meaning the line didn't stretch around the corner, but it did stretch to the door). Luckily for me, that was the popcorn line and I was able to squeeze into the other room to pick my apple. They had plain caramel-dipped, caramel with peanuts and a double-caramel-dipped with peanuts. Well, I went with my "regular"--a caramel with peanuts--but once I got home to eat it, I realized I should've gone with the double-dipped. The ratio was all wrong! Too many peanuts, not enough goopy, caramel goodness! Oh well... Del's seems like a pretty cool old place. The neon sign outside is probably my favorite thing about the shop, but if I ever get the chance to work my way through the crowds to try some popcorn or homemade truffles, I imagine I'd like the place even more. When they shipped my package it arrived damaged. Near 50.00 and I got a gift that was damaged. Had they packaged their popcorn tin better than just putting it in the box it might of arrived safe. I wish I could give 10/10 stars on here because I LOVE Del's from the great service to the great tasting chocolate covered pecans and Raisins. I recently moved to Illinois from California and back at home finding good homemade snacks and candy is almost on every corner but Decatur? No. Del's take the cake everything ALWAYS tastes so fresh and everyone is SO sweet when you walk in there. I've heard a never ending list of how amazing the staff and the chocolate and pop corn is. Went in last week to try it out for the first time and then went back again to stock up on my favorite. Absolutely amazing! I'll be coming here every time I get a craving for something sweet! My husband is from IL and his family still lives there and I cannot leave Decatur without a trip to Del's. Period. My husband knows, we are not allowed to get back on that plane without Del's in tow. The last few trips we were there, I made some rather obscene purchases at Del's, like their popcorn was crack, literally! Large shopping bags full to the brim with caramel popcorn, cheese popcorn, popcorn bunnies and my favorite the Del's Deluxe Popcorn. I'm not a popcorn fanatic by any means, so the fact that I am bat-shit crazy over their popcorn says something. I was very disappointed in the Merchant St. store service...not the product. My wife and I were the first customers. No other customers in the business. It took a little over 30 minutes to purchase a medium tin of popcorn. Twice the sales girl had to go to the basement to find a lid. Never did find one in basement. Had to remove one from a display. Very unorganized that particular visit. Sent a letter to the owner at the store a month ago and have not heard back from him. Have visited Mt. Zion store since then and they are so much better in displays, service and product. read more

Del's Deluxe popcorn is fantastic! No reason to go for plain caramel corn when you can get it with almonds, pecans AND coconut! Yum! They have a vast selection of bulk candies and specialties but really, it's all about the popcorn. Sometimes hard to find parking, though. read more

Del's is an institution in Decatur (I mean that in the best way!) Back in the 70's, when I was in high school at the old Stephen Decatur, we came here for 'lunch'. Not nutritious, but... high school! They are in the same great location, with the same (I think) sign - such a comfort to an old hippie like me. Service is always great, popcorn delicious, and the caramel apples are the ONLY ones to eat when the weather turns cool, and now they have Elam's root beer (another institution). They fill and ship treats for gifts, which I highly recommend for a former Decaturite, or someone who deserves a special something that is unique! read more

I love great personal service - and attention to the customer. We were in town for a little family gathering - visited downtown and arrived at Dels 5 minutes after closing - did not realize this until I hit the locked door and read the hours. My sister was very disappointed. But only for a few seconds - door popped open and in we went - unhurried we selected our great treats and received a tour of the new section they just opened. Never been in the store but they stock our cafeteria at work with a very limited and extremely expensive assortment of candy, chocolates, and popcorn. The popcorn is better than store bought un-popped and the chocolate nuts and berries are ok. The sugar candys and gummies are very bland and all taste off compared to everything else on the market. Like they went online found a recipe and just started making to sell more things. No heart into the recipe of how it's made to make it better. The worst part of it a small handful of any of this will cost you north of two dollars and the popcorn is very expensive. I'm talk state fair expensive and not as good. Responding to the comment from Hunter B. Instead of making the excuse that it's someone else's fault it might be worth while to accept responsibility and look into it. After all it is your businesses name on the product. I understand that sometimes other businesses buy your product but I also know that it is common practice to limit those businesses on their resale price under contract to protect your own brand. I get it's tricky because you want to get your product out there and on shelves and something like that can kill a deal but it's called interity. Speaking of protecting you own brand since you are going out of house for your other products you might want to have the manufacturer adjust their recipe to suit your shops taste or find another supplier. I have done b2b business for many years and know that if a supplier wants to keep selling their product to a business they need to make a solid product as well as that business needs to hold a certain standard both with the businesses they buy from and the businesses they sell to. More importantly a business should never pass the blame off when a customer addresses a product with the businesses name on it to a vendor or the company reselling their product. Never seen PPG or Kellogg put the blame on Walmart. Just some food for thought there. read more

Your fudge is great- However your web site lacks ordering info. In this day of tech one does not have to call you to place an order especially on only the times your local store is open. You could be missing a lot of orders to be shipped out. Very inconvenient for we customers who would like to place an order on a Sunday or after your hours are over . Del's Popcorn was always a treat when I lived in Springfield, so when I wanted to send a gift to a group of caregivers near Peoria, I got online and found this website. I have now ordered two years in a row, and the gift was very much appreciated. However, this year, at first I ordered the wrong size. I realized it immediately and canceled the order, which was easy enough to do. I then ordered the correct size and thought that would be the end of it. Both amounts were charged to my credit card, and after giving them a few days to correct it, I sent them an e-mail. A month later and after four e-mails and no acknowledgment, I finally had to call them to resolve it. I now have very mixed feelings about ordering again. It's a good product, but I should not have had to go through so much to get a refund from a canceled order. Customer service means a lot to me in choosing where I spend my money. read more
