This was horrible. I had the meatloaf special with two sides. The meatloaf was warm on the outside and cold in the middle. It was also dry and burnt on the bottom. One of my sides was mashed potatoes, which tasted fine except for the hair I found in them. My fiancé also found a hair in his fries. My other side was mac n' cheese which tasted like nothing and had a gross texture. I could tell it had been reheated because the cheese was congealed and clumpy. As well, there were a couple large ants crawling on our table. Overall, the food not only tasted bad, but the hairs and the ants made me feel that the environment was not as clean as it should be. Taped to the door is a sign that reads "This is not a fast food restaurant. Every meal is prepared individually, so please be patient with us." At least you were warned. The Outpost is stationed between two of the large antique malls in Allen, and between our visits to these we wandered in for lunch. The interior kind of resembles the antique malls, with lots of country kitsch decor on display. There was a bit of a wait to be seated even though the restaurant was maybe 2/3 full, though once we were at out table our drinks came and our food order was taken quickly enough. The menu here is basic: some burgers and assorted sandwiches, a few salads, chicken tenders and that kind of thing. My wife got a basic hamburger, which was large, about a 1/2 pound. She said it had decent flavor, but was a little dry. I got a bite and I concur. I got the "grilled chicken sandwich deluxe," though I wasn't sure what made it deluxe. It consisted of a dry, unseasoned chicken breast topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo. It took care of my hunger, and I guess that was enough at that moment. What was more discouraging, though, was the long wait between ordering and receiving our food. And the longer wait between finishing our meal and getting the check. I didn't time either, but the total time we spent in the restaurant was 1 3/4 hours. Some of the problem came from understaffing. There were only two servers on duty in what is actually a fairly large restaurant. I think our server was doing the best she could, but had far more work that she could reasonably handle. The second star I'm giving this place is an acknowledgement of her efforts. This is the only restaurant in Allen, so if you're heading there for a day of antiquing, pack a lunch, or schedule your trip to be somewhere else around mealtime. read more

Ate here while antiquing and would not recommend- I will never be going back. The service is horrendous. I ordered a Ranch chicken wrap and the soup of the day meal (which is soup and bread). The waitress brings soup out about 20 minutes later, I ask if it comes with bread and she says that I ordered a side so I don't get bread. I told her I did not, and wanted the soup and bread, and anyways ask her to make it a meal for the bread if it wasn't already. She went to the back to get the bread and suddenly yelling was heard over the lobby over a piece of bread! I asked the other server for a manager as it was so unprofessional and she told me the employee was new and that the manager/owner was not in and only is in certain times. The employee left and brought the bread. An hour later the rest of the food arrived. I immediately boxed the food and went to pay as I didn't want to waste any more time in the establishment (was already there over an hour). The waitress who yelled checked me out to tell me "I'm sorry I might have made you feel a certain type of way tonight" which left me speechless to say the least. I finished eating in the car on the way to the next antique mall. What a disappointment. Never eating there again. read more

Stopped here while antiquing. Great little place. Rustic decor. Food was very good. Good mix of options. Burgers, salads, wraps, veggie burger, interesting appetizers. Service was good. Don't forget to buy a mini loaf of homemade banana nut bread! We will be back! read more

A service not seen often enough! I'm very impressed as soon as we were seated we were met by the owner. That made us feel welcomed and I knew we would have a good meal. You could see the pride he has in his establishment and he should. The decor was very warming and rustic like the antique shops nearby. I wanted to try there spinach balls and one of the sandwich selections they have but could not pass the all u can eat fish. Which was great they kept me going till I was stuffed. The coleslaw is also very good. They have a cranberry spritzer that was a great change from standard sodas. They also do floats out of many different sodas and icecream that are plentiful in size. Our service was outstanding and always kind. As I said I am very impressed we found this gem and I'm sure we will be returning soon. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. A very standard price for a great meal. They also have Wifi. read more

This place is mediocre at best. We have been here only a couple times in the five years we have loved down the road from the establishment. It never fails that every time we go they are out of 60% of the items on the menu. It is easier to ask what they have left before ordering four different meals, to be told they are out. The best thing about the outpost grill is Sunday brunch. The chicken was pretty good, that's the only reason they got some stars. read more

Great food, great service! Took our family of 6 to have all you can eat fish. A little pricey for what you get, and drinks not included...but all of us agreed the quality of the food was top notch. This place is country kitchen charming, just what you would expect of a restaurant standing in the middle of an antique wonderland that is Allen, MI. The salads are huge, the Stinky Boot is awesome (their reuben). The wraps are okay, nothing out of the ordinary. They also have a lunch buffet, but we did not try it. I would say the food is more like 3 star for sure, but I'm giving them a little extra for their charm and great service. read more

The food was good, however the service was very lacking. I had to wave someone down to take my order. I sat for 10 minutes before water was offered. The order took way to long as my waitress did not call it out loud enough to the cook. I had to get up and request my ticket. I observed this happening to the few others that were there. My waitress seemed very spaced and not sure of herself. They offered free WiFi on the sign but it dropped every 2 minutes and was horrid. I asked about it and the waitress did not even know they offered free wifi. Needless to say I was greatly disappointed and will not be back. read more

Painfully slow service. Many menu items were unavailable. Ordered chicken caesar salad and it came back without the chicken or caesar dressing and the salad was browning. Will never stop here again and could never recommend anyone dining here. Awful experience read more

Our family loves the outpost, especially their Sunday buffet! The only reason I withheld a star was because their hours are not consistent. They close early whenever they want and it is inconvenient when you drive there and they are closed during normal restaurant hours. read more

We walked in at 3:00pm onto the patio. There were at least 6 unbussed, dirty tables. With it being so hot outside it stank. There was no one even in the process of cleaning them either. We walked further into the restaurant and were met with more filthy tables. We waited for a couple minutes and no staff showed up so, we left. Maybe they were having a bad day. It just didn't look good at all. We left and drove down the street to the next town to another restaurant. read more

I was very disappointed after waiting 15 minutes they came to take our order, was told I thought the other waitress got you. This is after they took orders from the table next to us that came in way behind us, as I looked around the restaurant every table was waiting for there food, One table got up to ask about there food. they were there long before us. after 45 minute wait we decided to leave, told the cashier we could not wait anymore, and was charged $3.70. for 2 cups of coffee.
