Relax, you'll be fine. Just avoid the part of the bar that has Stella on tap and see if there's anything drinkable instead on the other side - given the number of walkers in town there's bound to be some decent ale.
Just stay clear of the Chardonnay if you value wine, or like Australia at all.
As for food, you'll be alright, too - just don't bother with the chips, or expect the dressing on the salad to be anything other than nice decoration. Dressed crab on the menu is a nice touch, so close to the sea. Does it really matter if it's so cold and watery because it's been frozen or cooked too long? As for the local Cumberland sausage, well, don't tell the locals or they'll sue.
You're quite safe in the hands of the staff, too: they won't ask why you're leaving your plate and your glass half full, and will make the evidence disappear quickly. read more
