One of the few places that actually made it on Yelp and had a review so we decided to stop by and give it a try. After all, who can say no to Eggs Benedict in this country?! I can't even count how many times I've had Eggs Benedict on this trip to the South Island and I'm only here for a week - it is amazing how good they are at poaching their eggs here!!! Major eggporn moments every. single. time. We opted in for the Salmon Eggs Benedict and it was literally the best one I've ever had. The bread had the perfect amount of crunch to it. The salmon was fresh and meaty. The sauce tasted light and didn't over power the dish itself. The eggs...oh the eggs, I have no words for them. They were absolutely perfect in every ways (can you tell that I'm obsessed with these damn perfectly done poached eggs?!). We also got the Mango Peach and Passionfruit Crepes and my oh my, it definitely did not disappoint. The crepe skins were soft and chewy with a light amount of powdered sugar on top. The toppings were zesty and sweet. The syrup wasn't too sweet and the whipped creme just added just the right amount of creaminess to it all. It was quite a wonderful experience to say the least. This meal made me not want to leave the country..ever. I cannot wait to come back here!!!! -Provides both indoor and outdoor seatings -Accepts credit cards -Free water in a cute little vintage fridge -Clean toilets -Plenty of take away items -Lots of parking spaces -Friendly Kiwis

Stopped in here for breakfast after getting takeaway coffees and thinking the food looked good…read more Decided on eggs Benedict, one with salmon and one with bacon. The salmon was a tiny portion, not worth the $1 more than the bacon one. The bacon one which I'd asked to have crispy bacon had more jellied fat than meat and I quickly took it inside to politely ask if I could please have the fat crisped up, as I'd asked for. The kitchen did this and it was brought out to me very crispy...but missing half the potato hash, half the hollendaise sauce and all of the spinach (I hadn't even touched the plate so obviously the kitchen had just left these items off the new plate). I pointed this out to the lovely lady behind the counter who was a bit shocked and apologised, by this time my partner had finished his breakfast and I'd spent the whole time waiting for mine which was now missing half the food. The lady behind the counter offered to refund me and give us a free coffee each, I thanked her but said a refund for the food was all I would need as the coffee was lovely and we didn't have an issue with it. Just before she refunded me the miserable owner / manager walked over and rudely stated "we don't do refunds". Right...so what do you do in this instance then? She said there was nothing wrong with the plate and I told her that it was missing half the food. She claimed that I was a liar and must have ate it as the kitchen only plated up what was there. Honestly at this point I just laughed at how ridiculous this situation was and asked if half the meal was wearing a Harry Potter-esque invisibility cloak as I was 100% certain I hadn't scoffed half the meal down between walking the plate from my table and the counter. She again stated the kitchen didn't miss half the food and I told her I would like a refund as at this point I just wanted to get out of there. She just smirked at me and stood there - in the end they obliged but I honestly can't believe the cheek of some people. I thanked the lovely lady behind the counter and left. If you want to support a business with a manager / owner that actually cares, can make eye contact and doesn't come across as wanting to fill you in if you complain then I would recommend going elsewhere...Kaikoura has many better spots on offer.

Excellent coffee and an outstanding breakfast. Creative, well prepared, and beautifully presented…read more It's a shame that this cafe doesn't have a 'downtown' location, as it is infinitely better than it's competitors down on the strand. Do yourself a favor and order the eggs benedict - unique and delicious.

Absolutely loved the Addington. Great atmosphere, great menu. Plus I had a BLTA sandwich (5 stars) as a take-away as I embarked on my day trip to Arthur's Pass. Ate it next to the mountains... so good.

Busy busy place but it's big and spacious inside so they can handle all the people. You might have to eat on the sofa in the front by the front door but ayyy food is worth the inconvenience haha. They always keep their menu simple which is nice because it makes deciding what to eat easier. One page and they vary it with a few options. The famous English style breakfast, eggs benny, some more general breakfast choices and what I got, the french toast plate with streaky bacon. In NZ they like to cook their bacon a little underdone which I didn't think I would like but I love it! They put in between the toast add some fruit, syrup and cream. It was amazing! I'm that guy that usually orders the best thing out of my friends and they all wish they got what I got.. this was one of those times haha. Definitely recommend.. It's a bit pricey here, between $17 - $23 depending on your choice. My French Toast was $20. They're famous for coffee here but I'm not really into coffee much(don't hate me) but I did get hooked on Chai lattes. Spicy or sweet, it's up to you. I wasn't feeling so spicy that morning, hangover vibes... so I got sweet. You order at a counter and then seat yourself. Instead of giving numbers to ID your table they give you a random country flag. Funny enough, the cashier said I look either Canadian or from California. So she gave me the Canada flag. Thanks EH. Do I really give off such a strong California vibe? I got that a few times when traveling around hahah. Amazing food, nice interior vibes, Chai was dank. 5 stars!
