Its a big apartment but it's falling apart and they are only fixing the outside looks but not the real problems on the inside.

The complex is very clean. No dog poop anywhere. It is a smoke free complex, and you can tell. There are 2 pools, playground, a huge gym clubhouse, etc. Great amenities. The apartments are very spacious and designed perfect. Jessica was amazing and I cannot wait to move into this complex in Jan 2026. Thank you all for making this searching experience so easy. I've lived at Elon for almost two years, and I regret renewing my lease every single day. The only good thing is that some neighbors are friendly and there's a small sense of community. Outside of that, these apartments are falling apart. The buildings are clearly old, and whatever "renovations" they did were cheap, rushed, half-effort attempts to make the place look decent. Nothing about the work is safe or properly done. For example: my living room ceiling fan flew off the ceiling. It came off with force, slammed into the wall, and one of the blades flew across the room into the kitchen. If I had been napping on my couch like I normally do, I could've been seriously hurt or worse. And what was Elon's response? "We're very sorry, I'm not sure why this is happening." They accidentally admitted this has happened in multiple apartments, meaning whoever replaced the fixtures did a terrible job and now the community is just waiting for fans to fly off in individual units before taking action. Completely unacceptable. I've also come home to threatening letters taped to my door saying that if I didn't remove any "dying" plants from my porch by a certain date, maintenance would throw them all away. This would make sense if I had dying plants. I didn't. Every plant was healthy. When I went to the office to ask what they were talking about so I could address it, I was told: "Upper management is who said something. I can't tell you which plant. It was a general note left on multiple doors. We saw something dead but I'm not going to go over there and show you what we're talking about." So basically--no clarity, no help, just vague threats and zero accountability. And then last night, I had a ceiling leak from the apartment above me. This community advertises 24/7 emergency maintenance. I called their emergency line over ten times starting at 8 PM. No answer. No call back. Nothing until staff came in at 8 AM the next morning. I ended up having to track down my upstairs neighbor myself and turn off their water valve at 7 AM--after 11 hours of constant leaking--because no one from this community bothered to do their actual job. And when I finally spoke with the property manager? Her priority wasn't the leak, the damage, or the fact that I was left to deal with an emergency alone. Her priority was telling me to "refrain from cursing" in the voicemails that no one bothered to listen to for 12 hours while my apartment flooded. That perfectly sums up this janky community: ignore the actual problem, ignore the safety issues, ignore the emergencies--but make sure to comment on my "tone." Save yourself the stress. Do not move here.

Apartment Building Condition Without even checking the public records, you can tell the building's age by the cable TV and internet speeds. Internet option: $80 (1 Gig) from Spectrum or Verizon WiFi - Not FIOS (bundle deal $50). The building is so old that the COAX cable barely supports 300 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. This isn't just about internet speed - it's about the building's age. Frequent management change Management has changed three times - including one maintenance guy. Since moving in, I've repeatedly complained about pests (from baby cockroaches to No-See-Ums). No-See-Ums bite, making it extremely difficult to sleep. This company, ASPEN SQUARE, has the worst business model ever! Forget branding - it's all about ROI. Ongoing Pest Problems (Images attached.) For the past eight weeks, pest control has visited every single week (exept one week due to the rain and pest control tried to enter with their dirty a*s boots) because of the bugs (see attached images). I requested a new fridge because bugs were getting into my food. Management's response? "Let's monitor the situation first." Who wants maintenance in their home every week?! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important to note! After filling the vase with water, it leaks everywhere, and the office staff scrambles to patch the leaks -- but the leaks are never-ending. FYI, I have received my full deposit from my last three apartments, so the cleanliness of my apartment unit is not the issue.

This place is shady. So so shady…read more I called for a quote on apartments. I told them I was from CA, so I wanted to ask them everything since I wasn't sure how different apartment hunting would differ from apartment hunting in FL. Everything seemed fine. I asked if there were any additional fees on top of our rent I should know about. No? How much is the deposit? $499-$699 on approved credit. Ok. Everything seemed fine. Same as CA. I apply for one of the units. When I applied, the price differed $20 per month. I emailed Yesenia to inquire. She replied with "I would call you but I don't have your number." Uhm. Ok. She called me because I submitted a form through their website for apartment inquiries. I even responded to the email where she told me the unit number I was applying to. Do you take notes of the people you talk to? She also called me after I was approved that I needed to sign the lease. A portion of the lease asked about renter's insurance, but it forced you to fill in the address to either apply for renters insurance through their partner, or to opt out applying through their partner. I emailed her to ask for the address so I could get through that part of the lease. She responded back to me with "I wouldn't get the insurance until you are fully approved." Am I not approved even though you asked me to sign the lease? A few days later she emailed me & asked me if I wanted to pay the fee waiver of $499, or if I wanted to pay 1 month's rent as a deposit. I was confused, because through our initial conversation, she told me that the deposit would be $499-$699 on approved credit. She then told me that it was a $499-$699 fee waiver on approved credit. Meaning I could either choose to pay the $499 as a deposit and guarantee lose that deposit, or pay 1 month's rent as a deposit, which I would get back depending on how I left the condition of the apartment. Why wasn't this made clear when we had initially spoken over the phone? I had specifically asked about the deposit because we had 2 dogs. The dog deposits & dog rent differed from what she had initially told me as well. How does one make so many mistakes when you're giving pricing on things such as month rent, deposits, pet deposits & pet rent? The last thing that made us decide not to live here was when we got to one of the pages on the lease, there were $139 or $149 worth of additional fees that would be added to your rent. Things like trash, parcel locker deposit, & a technology package. That's all fine and dandy. But I had specifically asked if there were any additional fees added on top of the monthly rent I should know about, and I was specifically told NO. Now we realize there are all these other additional fees that weren't disclosed to us from jump. The fees itself are fine. The issue is I specifically asked so I knew, and they weren't disclosed on purpose. If we have had so many red flags before signing the lease, just imagine the issues we would have had once we moved in. On top of it, I was coming to FL to visit for work. I had called & left a message with someone in the front office to let Yesenia know that we would be going with another apartment complex to rent from, and I also emailed her letting her know I had decided to go with another apartment complex. They told me they would take down the message and be sure to give it to her. So far I have received 3 emails from her. I guess theres also poor communication with the leasing office staff.

Just trash the place, it's not going to matter anyway. They will charge you a 135 "deep clean" fee. My husband spent the last several days there making sure it was given back in the condition given to us. The apartment was an un-rennovated unit that we spent over a year in. There is bound to be normal wear and tear, but nothing to warrant them taking that much from the deposit to clean it when it was already cleaned. Not to mention the fact that when it was given to us it was dirty lol. I specifically remember moving into that apartment and still needing to clean it for it to be livable because at the time I was pregnant. So first money grab right there. Secondly our ceiling light switch broke off from again normal wear and tear. We asked for maintenance to come, we were billed for them to come. Only to be charged 107 for a whole new ceiling fan labeling it "damages"? Very excessive when it was a switch and we had never been charged like that before. Again another money grab. Now also be mindful you will be harassed by a woman named Hollie. Who will come knock at your door multiple times if there is trash outside on there lawn near your apartment. From the wildlife that live on property. She will tell you, that you can't leave your trash outside before 3pm? I'm sorry I do not want my trash inside my apartment sitting there all morning with a baby. They will tell you that you can't have your tv too loud. lol this place was a nightmare. The neighbors above us literally stomped around day and night. They complained to management about our tv being too loud. But they are allowed to purposely stomp around all day and night. Literally throwing stuff onto the floor, purposely being loud. We were new to the area and didn't want any problems so we didn't complain. We literally kept our noses down and moved out when it was our time too. And kept the property up to standard. Only to be given 50 dollars back in our deposit. Do not trust them. I really could go on with this place from the beginning it was nothing but problems. Rent at your own risk. They are con artist. Save your wallet and self the trouble. Run!
