Overall pretty good. Almost almost gave it a lower score over the chocolate pancakes. These are not pancakes it's like eating chocolate cake and unless that's what you want don't order it. We are big fans of the pancake house in Adelaide so we decided to try the pancake parlour while we are visiting Victoria and thankfully we were right next to one. Pulling up there was a moment of confusion with some badly signposted disabled parking spots - we weren't sure if we were in one or not, so we moved. We went in and we were greeted by our waiter who took us up the back to a booth and grabbed a high chair for Boo. Unfortunately boo was in a bad mood and was crying a little so Brendon took her for a walk around while we waited for our food. I felt very uncomfortable as I felt like the waiter kept glaring at us as she walked past and I felt like she was trying to get us to move along. "...JUST OKAY FOR ME.. BUT THE KIDS THOUGHT IT 'AWESOME'.. YEAH, THEY LOVED IT..." Earlier this week, I treated the kids to pancakes and a shake at THE PANCAKE PARLOUR on Warrigal Road, Malvern East. We hadn't been to one for a seriously long time.. I mean not for 2 or 3 years, at least.. So, I'd kinda forgotten what to expect.. Well this one is huge, it's got all the recognizable paraphernalia and it's open 24/7.. POSITIVES: -clean, cool, comfortable -booth seating... -fast and efficient service... -it's own big carpark... NEGATIVES: -I really thought the pancakes were salty.. sort of a strange flavour.. perhaps it's done to counteract the sweetness of the ice-cream and toppings.. not quite sure..? -Pricey... -Considering the price, I was disappointed they use FAKE maple syrup.. You can buy the real stuff, for a hefty 'extra'.. A bit 'mean'... We had: Short Stacks - 2 small to average sized American pancakes - with Vanilla Ice-cream - 1 large scoop, very dense, reasonable quality - and "Maple Syrup..?"[the boys had to have 2 serves each..yeah, well, do you remember how hungry you got after school..!!] - COST $12.30 per serving. Chocolate Swiss Mountain Malts - mug of milk-shake - thick, icy - full of flavour - I loved this - COST $9.20 each. We will go again - the kids loved everything about the place - might take advantage of their Lunch and Dinner Specials next time.. it'll be 'a little' easier on the pocket.. Ordered the $25 Cajun chicken salad and it only came with 4 small strips of chicken. The chicken was overcooked and soaked in oil. Not really the healthy alternative I was looking for. read more

These stars are for the service, its quick, the food, it's comforting and delicious, the family style, highchairs are plentiful and for convenience, it's open 24 hours and has a huge parking lot! I usually order the Canadian pancakes. Bacon, pancakes and 2 eggs made to order. Mmmm, craving it just typing about it. The cosmopolitan wasn't all that great but my friends loved their milkshakes. This is one of the better pancake parlours we've been to. The tables are never sticky as with some. Its always clean. The service is always fast and efficient. It doesn't matter if its the middle of the night (they are 24 hours) or middle of the day you cannot fault the staff. I tried the new on the menu Salted Caramel Pancake. They were happy to change the pancake from a white pancake to the buckwheat pancake. And the ice cream was a creamy ice cream not an icy one as with some. The salted caramel was perfect. I would order this dish again. The only reason I give a four star and not five is the prices. The prices seriously are ridiculous. Over $7 for a royal hot chocolate....really I should have taken a pic of it. It had no cream or marshmallows which I new that it didn't state it on the menu but I thought it would be amazing. Made with choc fudge and not chocolate bits. It was nice but ordinary. It was in a glass. Not a huge mug like the hot chocolate. I would recommend this place for the food and the service. Went there Sunday for brekky, waited over 20mins for no one to serve us, the manager comes up because he must of seen us looking around and getting impatient, looking very dopey said have you been served, in annoyance my wife said no no we haven't and was quit annoyed about the situation, we got up and left, we were heading to the city and decided to give the Latrobe pancake parlour a go... I've been eating at the Pancake Parlour at different locations for years. It's convenient. Their Swiss Mountain Malts are to die for (and may well kill you if you have diabetes). This Chadstone interior is the best one I've ever been to: it's a little more modern and Steam-Punkish than the rest. That said, they are way overpriced these days. I miss their old version of the 'best breast of chicken' dish - the new butterflied versions of the old dish just don't cut it in comparison, and feel like a complete rip off. On the positive side, their new Slow-Cooked Lamb Crepes are the best thing to happen to their menu for years. Sadly the lamb seems to be served a little too on the cool side for me, but they tell me that's how it's meant to be. The flavour is great however, just ask for it to be served with a little extra heating time (should I say reheat?). read more

I've eaten here a couple of times. The food is what I expected since I ordered pancakes. It's really delicious. I love pecan pancakes, so I went with "It". Solid choice. I'm sure their service here is good during the day, but they can greatly improve their service at night (after 10). My friends and I sat for 10 minutes one night without being greeted by anyone before walking out. I've never been here during the day, but if the service is better then, then I suggest a visit. Pricey for me - plate of cottage fries at almost $14. Have a wide array of meals for you but be prepared to shell out for it. Can't say the fries were worth more than what one would expect to pay as they were good. But their desserts are their forte but yet again get ready to get your wallet dented. read more
