Banana pancakes

This parlour reminded me a lot of Pancakes on the Rocks but not as good. As in the pancakes didn't taste as good. We were only after a quick sweet meal and having been here before it was a safe choice. It's situated inside a shopping complex so not hard to find. They have alcoholic drinks options, which surprised me for a shopping centre inset restaurant. The pancake choices are variant you'll find something to your preference here at least. We were in a rush so we only ordered one dish to share. It was semi decent. We'd probably repeat the visit under same circumstances but not in a hurry. Good for kids and groups though, we noticed small kid birthday parties going down there.

The Alice in Wonderland but I'd rather call it Pancake Parlour's 'Stroke on a Plate'

My oh my... Pancake Parlour.... If you want to really hate yourself, then Pancake Parlour is the place to go to. Now, I've never been before and I've heard mixed reviews about it from friends and colleagues so I was a little unsure. We got there, took a seat and had a look at the menu. Now, if you like savoury with your pancake, then you'll want to look at the Breakfast fare and expect to be set back at least $16 for a meal. Pancakes with eggs, bacon or beans do not mix for me. It's like having pineapple in your burger. Non! Non!! Non!!! After browsing through the sweet fare, we decided to go for the Alice in Wonderland - 2 buttermilk pancakes, lashings of hot chocolate fudge, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with hundreds and thousands. Our pancakes did not take long to get to us which was pretty good given that the place was busy however I reckon they should 'Stroke on plate' instead. Seriously, the pancake was literally drowning in choc fudge! Now, to be fair, it was quite nice actually. The ice cream was good - smooth and creamy and the pancakes were nice and fluffy (Tell you what, I'd be pleased with just them topped with maple syrup!) but wow - Very Very sweet and heavy. It's one of those desserts which fills you up so much that the only thing you want to do after eating is crawl in bed and take a long nap!

Oh deary me, Pancakes with a combination of sweet toppings? You've sold me already Pancake Parlour. A work colleague and I came here after a long lunch (There were many of these at my old boring I.T job) and woofed down some delicious after lunch treats. We arrived and waited to be seated, a young chipper lass seated us and informed us about some of the items of the menu. My friend had a voucher for 2 for 1 chocolate pancakes (seriously, start printing off your self-serve checkout receipt at coles because that's where she got it from). The pancakes were ordered and arrived within 10 minutes. The decadent pastry was smothered in chocolate sauce and topped with cream. We returned to the office and had to unbuckle our belts to sit back in front of the slave box (i mean work computer).

Make a booking as this place gets seriously busy. We were a group of 12 people on a long table out at the back. You can get individuals receipts which allows for easy split payments. Yay for groups. The wait staff were extremely nice and attentive and great at getting our orders and repeating them back to us for confirmation. People as always were running late but the wait staff were quick to hand them menus and their orders. Food arrived quickly and they made changes to items based on peoples choice. Like one girl on my table didn't want syrup on her pancakes. I wanted tabasco on the side. And that all came with our food. I didn't have to go hunting for sauce or cutlery of water. Despite their efficiency, one of the girl's order was misplaced. The staff were extremely apologetic and offered to get her another drink or a bowl of chips for free. She chose the bowl of chips and they looked delish. Everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the Mexican chicken crepes and they were amazing. The chicken was soft, succulent and well flavoured. The crepes contained beans and corn and a really nice salsa sauce. The shredded cabbage and tomato salas complemented the crepes. Yumm. However 27.90 for two crepes is waaay too expensive.

What can I say, it's a chain and it's everywhere for a reason. Consistent service and food. Something you might not associate the pancake parlour with is cocktails. This location is conveniently between the movies at Melbourne Central and the train station at Melbourne Central. Therefore it's the perfect place to debrief about the movie you just saw over a quick cocktail on the way to the train. You need to ask for the drinks menu. They also have wine beer and spirits. Unlike other popular chains nearby the cocktails are actually really good. From past experience I know the food is too.

The 'Alice in Wonderland'

I hadn't been to The Pancake Parlour since I was a kid, but came out of the cinemas on Saturday night with a real hankering for something sweet so headed in. I got so much sugar in one dessert I don't think I'll need to have dessert for another month. I had the 'Alice in Wonderland', which is two pancakes, hot chocolate fudge, ice cream and sprinkles, along with a 'piccolo' bottle of sparkling wine. It was as intense as it sounds, but if I look at it objectively the 'meal' was quite good. The Pancake Parlour use organic ingredients where possible, and I could certainly taste that the ice cream was of excellent quality. This is a relatively new branch of The Pancake Parlour and as such the interior is modern and comfortable, while still maintaining something of the original circus vibe found in the older stores. The service was friendly, albeit a little too quick - I felt like they were trying to get rid of us, perhaps in time for the late-night rush. As Clarissa said, the opening hours are fantastic - being able to have a quality sweet or savoury meal in the wee hours of the morning is a rare treat, and goes a long way to explain the high prices.

Some of the best pancakes I've had in my life. Quick friendly service, decent size dishes and a nice warm, relaxjng atmosphere. Pancakes are a little pricy but tastes absolutely amazing. Anyone in Melbourne should definitely give pancakes parlour a visit.

I do love pancaked and the pancake parlour is the best places to get thn that I know of in Melbourne at least. The service is friendly and welcoming. I frequently attend the Restuarant at the top of Melbourne central and love to go there at every spare chance that I can. Luckily for me pancaked Aren't just restricted to breakfast!!

Pancake in salted caramel topped with crushed almonds and vanilla ice cream. Sickeningly sweet!

Small portions, very expensive. Inflexible staff . Waitress did not confirm preferences and then did not offer to correct.

A little expensive for what it's served. Didn't loved anything in special. Don't think would come back.

Bowery to Williamsburg - Bacon and egg sandwich with side of sausage

The first day in Australia, I was craving a big, hearty sandwich, a rarity in Japan. A quick Google…read moresearch led me to Bowery to Williamsburg. The name suggests a connection to the street or bridge in NYC. Am I correct? Located in the alley between Flinders and Collins, parallel to Russell, it was a bit unexpected to find this eatery here. With plenty of tables on the patio and inside, the atmosphere was inviting. Being alone, I didn't want to occupy a larger table, so I decided to grab my order to go. After glancing over the menu, my eyes locked on the 'Reuben,' thinking 'this can't go wrong.' The staff were kind and friendly. Despite not dining in, they allowed me to sit and wait at a table. After a few minutes, I received my order and rushed back to the hotel because I couldn't wait! Excitement led me to open the box like a treasure chest, revealing a huge sandwich - the portion I had been searching for. In Japan, where I live, the general trend is to reduce portions to maintain prices rather than increase prices to keep portions consistent in the face of inflation. Now you understand how crucial this is. Another crucial aspect - the taste was on point. With a generous portion of meat, it dominated the experience along with the sourness from the pickled cabbage. It was a bit too sour for my taste, but I assume that's how a Reuben usually tastes. Overall, I was really pleased with this place and would love to come back again.

Breakfast they say, is the most important meal of the day, it gives you energy, gives you clarity…read moreto get through the day, it sets the tone. So finding the perfect breakfast, well let's face it, is reality easy in a city such as Melbourne. So many cafes and restaurants offering their take on poached eggs, smashed avocado sprinkled with the latest super food grain and freshly juiced kale and ginger juice makes it a smorgasbord of choices for today's customer. Hotel restaurants around the world have been offering up a breakfast buffet since the dawn of time, with a large degree of failure. The biggest challenge being keeping the offering hot and serving up a variety that keeps them a step a head of their competition. Collins Kitchen in the Grand Hyatt Melbourne offers up this time honoured tradition and where others have missed the mark the Hyatt have not only exceeded the mark but have set the barre to new heights. Firstly this is a grand restaurant overlooking the plain trees of Russell Street, with warm and inviting furniture that lets you know you're in a five star dining room in a world renowned hotel, a perfect place for the perfect breakfast. The major difference here is how they offer you the food, there is not a trestle table or Bain marie in sight, instead they have four show kitchens, each with a dedicated chef, either cooking to order your choice of eggs, be it poached or a wonderful fluffy omelette, or continually cooking crispy bacon, sauté mushrooms or an array of dim sum. Fresh fruit, an assortment of freshly baked bread and a chef offering to squeeze you a super juice, is awaiting you in another kitchen. There's a deli with smoked salmon, turkey and ham on offer with a great selection of cheese and crackers. If that doesn't fill you up then you'll need to head over to what one can only describe as heavens kitchen. Freshly made waffles and pancakes with fruit compotes and cream. Pastries and cakes galore will give anyone with a slight sugar addiction the fix they need. The only way to make this experience better would be to offer ice cream for the waffles, but that's just me being slightly greedy. This is not a place for a quick breakfast, to get the full experience you need to spend a couple of hours here and for $42 is certainly value for money.

High Tea at Hyatt So…read moreI just came back from the Hyatt high tea and I had a lovely time. The three of us were given two stands that displayed 9 sandwiches and 8 cakes. We were also given 10 scones and more than enough cream and jam (raspberry & fig) to accompany. The setting here at the Hyatt is beautifully laid out, the table settings are good quality and room oozes of class and style. The service was fantastic, the waiter for our table was extremely polite and professional. I found the servings to be very generous here, we had so many left over cakes-unfortunately they do not offer take away services, and so it's a bit of a waste if you don't finish it. The sandwiches included an egg salad, aged waygu beef and smoked salmon. The cakes included a chocolate mud, chocolate opera, pistachio sponge, cheesecake and strawberry mousse. I was also surprised by how many scones they gave us, did they really except us to eat that many? Overall this was a very pleasant afternoon, the ambience of the place was quite and relaxing and the prices were around $30ish per person. I will definitely head back here soon, perfect place for afternoon tea.
