Starters include Bury black pudding & Chorizo with poached egg, hollandaise sauce and rocket and chorizo salad; Goosnargh Chicken Liver and Port Pate; and Morecambe Bay shrimps. Mains include 28 day hung Rib Eye steak, Lancashire Hotpot and Home made Beef and Guinness pie. Quiz night on Thursdays and live music on Fridays. Update- April 2021…read more Disappointingly this pub that started out as an excellent local pub restaurant has been on a gradual race to the bottom over the last few years..... It seems like this is driven by greed by the owners, with the real ale selection going from great to poor but more importantly the quality has gone downhill. There have been several occasions where the pump clips have not matched whats in the pump . The atmosphere has gone from friendly local to more chave based, drunken idiots spoiling the atmosphere. There are worse pubs around for sure but it's so disappointing to see a great pub go in the wrong direction. It has great potential to compliement the two micro bars which have opened more recently and leave this place standing miles behind, so if you want a good local bar head to these until this place gets it's act together! ________________________________________

However, my burger was just ok...I felt it was just a litle to sloppy for my liking although it did taste great. The prices are reasonable which is a bonus. My dad had the chicken goujons which were fantastic and then the fish and chips. The pint of beer which I had (awesome I think it was called) was a very tasty one. I will definitely be back when I next visit my parents.

I was in for breakfast and that is what it is, breakfast. Tonight I've just stopped in for dinner before bed and off on the road at 4am. The staff here are fantastic, very polite, very helpful and the food was bloody lovely!!! Most chain pubs have lost the edge on the food game, serving bland, greasy food but my burger and breaded prawns were second to none! Huge well done to the team in that pub, keep it up

It's actually Bury black pudding, sausage and cauliflower fritters with mustard. The Brits do it best - oh yeah! There must be a really good chef in this pub as I had a wild boar pie for a main course that was clearly cooked from scratch. It was served with not once, not twice but triple cooked chunky chips that were crunchy on the inside and deliciously smooth in the middle. My mother had a 'chippy tea' with fish, chips and some addictive mushy peas that were flavoursome and a gorgeous chunky consistently (not too mushy). The atmosphere is really friendly and you can tell it's a place that gets lots of regulars from the local area as we stood out a bit as being southerners. But the staff showed interest in where we'd come from and why we were there (a family wedding) and we ended up feeling like we had a new family. Is it friendlier up North? If I ever venture up North again, I'd re-visit here for the delightful tapas. Bury black pudding is divine.
