I'm old and uncool enough to only know the function of about 30% of the stuff in the store but all of it is 100% awesome and 100% no-BS actual art. Most of it made by talented local/regional people. This ain't no grungy dive either. The glass pieces can range in price up to $800 bucks. A MFA exhibit in Boston made me a fan of blown glass art a long time ago. The pieces on display and for sale here are pretty amazing if occasionally incomprehensible. My favorite stuff was made by David Colton but the shop showcases a number of different glass artists. The shop also sells smoking accessories including stuff for vaping, oils and concentrates. It's maybe 80% high-end glass pieces and 20% smoke shop. Very interesting mix and a nice owner to boot.

I felt as if I was getting free local concierge by listening to her talk about the local history, and from a local, it was fascinating. This little shoppe is right in the downtown area, off on a side street and next to the train museum. She is very friendly and affordable. The only place around to customize a photo or painting with a classy frame. We purchased a painting nearby and stopped in for a frame. Carla helped us choose a simple, yet attractive and well fitting frame for the picture. She gave us many options to choose from and has a great eye for art and colors. Since we had to leave the area that same day, we left the painting with Carla to frame it and paid upfront for the cost of the frame and to ship the painting. We are now looking forward to the finished item. I certainly recommend you stop into this shoppe; you will not be disappointed.

The second party was a memorial painting to remember my dad's life. With a pending Nor'Easter we had to move the date of the paint party. Melanie was incredibly flexible and understood when we were no longer able to get everybody previously scheduled to attend the new date. To sweeten the pot, upon arrival at Wicked Illustrations, I asked if we could change the painting we originally chose and she quickly put it together so we could change. Melanie is patient and provides personal attention to each painter to provider tips and tricks and reduce perfectionist anxiety while we all try to master the art of painting. December 5th was the last Gardiner Art Walk for this year. It was a balmy 8° outside, the coldest…read morenight so far. But the smell of homemade meatballs lured me into the gallery! Yes. Meatballs. Alan Claude studio always has fabulous food for art walk night, tonight was meatballs and tiramisu. Delish!!!! I looked through the 8x10 prints to find some winter scenes to bring home. But did get a little overwhelmed by the amount people sharing the gallery and shop space and had to duck out. But! He always runs a really good sale for the 8x10s, where you can pick three for one set price. So I've made my list, I'm checking it twice and I'm sending my Santa back to pick them up. Nobody how busy the gallery is, Alan himself ALWAYS makes a point to greet every single person that steps in the door. He's also happy to take photos and sign art!
