Very rude employees, starting with the front people, everyone will treat you as if you did something bad or whatever. I know its a strict place, but atleast know how to treat PEOPLE right. I was with a friend who's doing all the renewal and stuff and I saw an old lady, shes so confused and was asking questions, and as soon as the old lady turned back, the lady employee started saying something bad and seems annoyed. Its just unfortunate that Filipino treats their co-Filipino that way as if they have the authority for everything just because they work there. Some offices like USCIS, DMV etc. they are strict places too but atleast they will try to help and direct you to the right place.We people are not perfect thats why some are asking about forms and stuff, it could be easy for you, it could be confusing for others. I think people deserve a good service cause theyre not coming and get their passport or citizenship or whatever for free. People make time, some from a far and I strongly think that they should be treated well. read more

I came here to get a couple of legal documents notarized. Supposedly, any documents received before 12:01 PM will be available for pick up same day at 4 PM. So I took a day off from work, drove for 3 hours from Connecticut all the way to NYC and got in by 930 AM. (You would think you're at the DMV when you walked into this place, but worse. I'm literally elbow-to-elbow with this dude who wouldn't stop coughing! (Tuberculosis? Maybe.) It was disgusting. I got me a ticket number. My ticket was post-marked 9:30 AM, and the lines were long but that was OK. It didn't bother me. So I waited through the whole routine for 2 1/2 hours before finally getting everything processed. By the time I was finished paying the fees at the cashier for my legal services it was 12:05 PM. The off-putting/nasty cashier lady told me that my documents will be available for pick-up the following day. I asked her politely if she would consider making mine available same day since it's only 4 minutes late, I took a day off from work, and travelled 3 hours all the way from CT. It went past 12:01 PM because the lines were long (I have no control over that!). Again, I asked her politely to please have mine available for pick up same day since I can't take another day off from work to come back . And oh boy, SHE GOT NASTY saying "there's nothing I can do!" and that the "notarizing person is up to his neck in legal documents to finish today!" Let's take a close look at the situation: 1. I have a post-marked 930 AM ticket. I'm entitled to get my documents same day. 2. If my processing time got pushed past 12:01 PM, that is because they are slow, incompetent in serving all morning customers resulting in backlog, and they are not adequately staffed to handle volumes of legal documents in the morning. 3. This embassy is supposed to have consular jurisdiction over Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Is this office really staffed enough to handle 10 states? What if customers all show up in the morning to get same-day paperworks? Can they handle that? As long as my ticket is post-stamped 9:30 AM, I don't give a rat's **s if you have huge volumes of work. 4. Cashier lady: "There's nothing I can do!". Really? Four minutes late for just one more document? There's nothing you can do? -A true test of good of service is always the willingness to serve and accommodate people and the ability to take into account their needs- If you're coming to this place for service, it doesn't really matter if you get here early or late. You will be served according to their "convenience". That's the classic Filipino service. All Filipinos know it. We put up a "nice face for foreign nationals, but we treat our own like s**t". Being so frustrated and having wasted a day for this non-sense, rather than filling up their "How are we doing with our service" survey (placed so conveniently where people can see it to emphasize "service", and they'll probably trash it anyway for comments they don't like), I decided to write this review online for more people to read and know. If you're going to this place from out-of- state for paperworks, you better book yourself an overnight hotel. read more

Following up with my wife's paperwork, it took 2 hours to ask 1 question. They told my wife to go to that counter, then transfer to another counter to the next. While others took two customers in 2 different windows they mix up all the paperwork and mislead clients. They don't event care if you have a newborn or two years old and up screaming cause they have been there for a while. Obviously the kids are there because there's no one to tend to them at home ( thinking they'd be kind enough to hurry up and process your papers quickly.). I also find the processors with lack of information and not knowledgeable of their procedures. They themselves are confused and get the clients more confused of what to do next. While dealing with you they constant walk back and forth trying to figure what to do. I guess because they lack interest in what they do. One customer service dared to say " I need something to relieve my stress". Lady you get paid to work. Stress is part of work. If you don't like your job then quit. Her and the rest of the customer service reps are so unprofessional and all have attitudes. The customer service reps in the Philippines are much more polite and professional. Maybe you should get retrained or go back to Philippines to learn moral values and gain work ethnics. This place needs an overhaul. Worst customer service I have ever seen. One of the clerks was outright rude and may need behavioral modification, she has an attitude and screams to clients because they were asking her information about renewing a dual citizenship passport. Attention consul general, maybe you shoul re-educate your staff about the meaning of customer service!? Or maybe just service, they have bad attitudes and busy gossiping, at least make them do their jobs! These people are representing our country and really the worst people imaginable are working there! At least hire people who have some good manners, hire someone from a Mcdonalds they would probably do a much better job. I hope changes would be implemented someday, so that other people will know that Filipinos are friendly, smart and hospitable and not the; lazy,uneducated, I'll mannered "butangera's" perfectly shown by that clerk. read more

Went to have a document authenticated and notarized. They were very helpful from the security guard to the employees. It took me less than 15 minutes from the time I arrived at the lobby, handed in my documents, and paid the fees. The employees were very helpful and gave specific instructions on every step thus it was a smooth transaction. No hassle. Good job people! Thank you. read more

The consulate website still lists Aquino as President (Duterte has been president for nearly a year now), and has no new updates since 2011 (when Mario Lopez de Leon, Jr took over as consul general). How about you update the website and list the actual President? That would be a good 1st step. So I've been getting my passport renewed here every five years, and it never gets better. Good luck getting ANYONE to pick up the phone at any of the numbers--pretty sure they have a room full of phones that they just ignore throughout the day. Why even have a number with extensions if nobody answers? Second, when you get your passport renewed, they always try to add as many hoops to jump through. They told me I needed to go to the Census.ph website, pay $20, and have my birth certificate snail mailed to me. That isn't anywhere on the list of requirements (which, by the way, is a document as rare as Big Foot to track down). If you need your passport in 3 months, and it takes 10 weeks for them to get it to you, how can you ever be expected to wait for your birth certificate in the mail? And I've never needed that before. Everything eventually works out, but that's the bare minimum requirement of vital services, like passports. I dread coming back here in 5 years. read more

The NY consulate came to Boston recently and it was embarrassing, they made everyone wait hours, half of the staff was just sitting around talking they could have absolutely cared less about helping anyone. Don't waste your time, its fast just to fly to D.C. and go the embassy, the NY Consulate is a waste of time. read more

They offered me to get my COMELEC I.D. , on this damn digital age Filipino time prevails.. one year and 2 months later the COMELEC I.D is still on the making. 'had my first visit in the embassy today to take the oath for dual citiizenship. It started as a pleasant experience, moreso meeting some wonderful Filipino staff, kababayans, and hearing interactions in tagalog. 'felt like being home again! The excitement, however, fizzled fast during the application of a passport. It was obviously a large group of applicants since most oath takers took the opportunity to work on getting the passport while there since most travelled far. Unfortunately noone from the staff took the time to clearly explained that photocopies of all the documents acquired after the oath, plus a copy of personal documents need to be submitted. So after hours of wait, one rejoices to finally get his turn only to be told to come back and make copies of the documents. What??? And there's one copier that takes only a quarter for each photocopy! Heck, I wasn't going to a laundromat! As each client scrambles to dig in their pockets for quarters, another client is already called. When you're done w/ the copies you stand back and wait again until the client who replaced you steps aside once he's told to get his documents copied, too! And then you have to explain to the others that you're not cutting-in but just coming back - because "I sat down for hours doing nothing instead of making the required copies readied!" The processing was plain unsystemmatic! The manpower was there, just used unwisely! Here's to the embassy - why not have someone from the staff walk around the waiting area and ask what the guests' businesses are and assist if their records are in order? You want more of us to cast votes??? Make it less painful! read more

I was at the consulate about two weeks ago when I saw a couple going hysterical with the woman saying (translated in english) " I took 2 days off from my work just to work out the these papers only to find out today that I don't need them!" I had a similar experience about 2 years ago. Apparently, some staff at the consulate don't know what they are doing. The inconsistencies in the their staff's instructions are creating tremendous inconvenience to filipinos, some of whom even travels out of state to avail of their services. I don't even see suggestion boxes on their premises to improve their service or a direct communication line to the consul general on their website to address these concerns. On the positive side, the consulate's processing time is fast and very orderly. read more

What an amazing experience! My new passport was released in 18 days from the time it was submitted. I went there last May 1 with my daughter bringing all required documents - originals and photo copies. In ~ 2 hrs I'm done. I was told that by May 18 i will received my new passport thru mail - i was skeptical though since all my friends informed me that processing period is least 2 months. All staff were nice/accommodating, they need to improve their telephone services its always forwarding call but not returning. An advice: check the require documents thru on line- print the application form, bring cash ($60), make photo copies of the documents and that's it. Far from my bad experience before where the person keep on insisting that I have to bring original documents, picture taking thru another person, make photocopies thru their copier with long lines only to find out that when its your turn the machine is stocked! Mind you I had my dual citizinship done there so all my information must be in their system. Why do I have to redo of presenting original papers. Anyway, a happy citizen here, keep it up guys! It was my first time renewing my PHI passport last January, I did all the steps for the requirements, I asked for my new passport to be sent via mail. The waiting period or delivery is one month or something like that, mine took 1 month and 1/2 waiting, but I haven't receive anything, so of course I tried calling them, leaving messages, emailing. NO ONE called back. I was worried and frustrated. I have no clue what happened so of course i had to go there to check what happened. When I got there they told me they have my new passport and it's okay to pick it up. The thing is the guy in the front told me that I need to cancel my old passport first,so they could mail it to me. Like? Seriously? You went there to renew your old passport to get a new one. No one told me i need to cancel the old one (which BTW, they just punch holes on the side and that's it). Why can't they just do it on the spot when I'm in the process of renewing a new one? It's ridiculous to know that people there DONT answer their phone AT ALL! Waste of time going there. Also, the cashier looks like she's about to punch you in the face when you stand in front of her. Horrible experience! read more
