Pines is not just a school filled with kids and teachers but more like family and a second home. From the exterior it may look a little older and not as polished as other schools but the love and care the kids receive in a safe environment is what matters. We've had such a great experience at Pines Christian School! My son started attending the daycare/preschool here as soon as he turned 2. His personality isn't the easiest to deal with, he's incredibly shy and has a hard time opening up, but the teachers and helpers were so gracious and patient! Within two weeks he started to love school, so much so that anytime we would step out of the house he would ask eagerly if we're going to school. That's a testament in itself! We've noticed much growth in him personally, and overall very pleased with the childcare here. They're open from 6am-6pm if you choose the all day care program, and they provide food which is an added plus. If you're on the fence, give them a call and talk to Mrs. Shelley. This was the one and only preschool I looked at when I was searching through the schools that participated in assistance programs. My son currently attends the preschool and will transition into their elementary school, that's how much I love this school. The minute I got there it was warm and welcoming you can tell the teachers were very in tune with their students. What sold me was when Mrs.Shelly actually took the time to see how my son adjusted while we were visiting and going over his skills to see where he would better fit into class wise with his skills. He was 3, a Covid kid, and never went to school or day care before. Once I saw the knowledge and care she had for students rather than just sticking them where they can I knew this was the place. Since then I've only seen my son flourish verbally, educationally, and physically. They KNOW their student, to the point they know when they're getting sick even before parents do. They're quick to call if there are concerns or health worries. She even gave me a topical for my eczema that worked wonders. I love this school, it's nothing like it was when I was in school. I can see how much my son loves it there and enjoys it. Even summer school they have a great time with amazing activities for the kids. I couldn't recommend a this place enough. read more

Pines Christian School is a great place to choose for your child's elementary education. My child started there in the 3rd grade and my only regret is not finding it when he was in kindergarten. The class sizes are mostly under 20 and the staff is caring, kind and attentive. The Vice Principal that oversees the 1st through 5th campus is a truly great administrator and takes an active role in seeing that all runs smoothly. Office Manager Ms. Sierra is kind and efficient. My child has learned much, matured in his Christian faith and we are so blessed to have been a part of this wonderful community of believers in Jesus! read more

I would give this school zero stars if I could. In first grade, the teacher John, principal and vice principal Troy Ingersoll decided to pin missing things and vandalism on my 7 year old without any evidence. They didn't care my daughter was crying her eyes out on her knees contesting false accusations. She got shamed in class and in front of the whole school. Benching her all day without water and restroom privileges. They ignored our alibi, and quickly expelled my little girl from the school based on here-say! Very cruel to order a little girl whose crying on her knees at her desk to pack up and leave immediately. She's an A/B student and has no history of vandalism. I don't recommend this school, because they lack grace and compassion. They yell alot. They obviously don't respect parents' opinion even if we are protecting our own children from the school's errors in judgement and treatment. I'm horrified because it's like a mob mentality. We found a much better private Christian school who says they will never treat their students badly like Pine's did. Not even to 1 child! read more

My daughter just graduated from the 5th grade (June 2020). Ms. Chong and Mr. Johnson were her teachers. They are great. Both teachers will have your child ready for the 6th grade without a doubt. Both teachers communicated well with me during the school year/even through Covid-19 pandemic Health issues. This school was extremely loving towards my child (all the teachers). They teach each child how to love the Lord, treat each other with respect and prepare them for the cruel world . I really appreciate all the staff, teachers, cooks and janitorial personnel. My oldest daughter started at the Pines Preschool when she was 3 years old. It was nothing short of an amazing experience for her! The preschool staff helped her learn and grow, and try new things. Once, when there was a very serious concern, Ms. Shelley and the rest of the preschool staff took it just as seriously as I did, and I am forever grateful for that. When my younger daughter turned 2 there was no question in our minds about where she'd go. Now my oldest daughter is in 2nd grade at the main campus and is beyond thriving. The fact that she loves learning and is excited to go to school everyday brings me such joy! All of her teachers so far have been so amazing with their open communication with me (the parent) that I never feel like I'm left wondering what's going on at school. Yes, there may be some yelling on the playground but when you have a couple hundred kids, sometimes yelling is the only way to bring a potentially dangerous situation to a quick halt. As far as the tuition and hours goes, The Pines is beyond fair! The campus is open something like 355 days a year, they are open from 6am-6pm (which is a miracle for this working mom), they offer on campus tutoring, dance classes, piano lessons, and breakfast, lunch, and two snacks. The environment is exactly what he needed after having a horrible experience at another place. Our 7 year old son has been attending Pines Christian since he was in the day care program. He just graduated the 1st grade with Mr. John and we're definitely going to enroll him for 2nd grade. We've had nothing but great experiences overall with Pines Christian. They treat all the children fairly and with respect. We've always felt comfortable communicating our concerns with the administration, and specifically with Mr. Troy. I truly appreciate how Mr. Troy has taken time out of his busy day to discuss our feelings and emotions about various matters. You can't get that kind of compassion just anywhere. Other staff members have always been kind and greeted us, asked if we needed help, and directed us to someone who could help with whatever our needs were. Mr John has actually gone above and beyond as a teacher in our eyes. He's one of those teachers that you always remember as your favorite; you could truly see that he loves his job. His positive energy is very contagious; you could feel the happiness when you enter the classroom. During the quarantine/ home schooling process, Mr John made these fun videos for the kids and parents to enjoy while they learn. My husband and I found ourselves checking in throughout the days to see if he had posted the newest videos! Miss Carly, the T.A. is also a sweetheart. Her cheerful demeanor is so infectious. It's hard not to smile when you see her. She will make an amazing teacher one day. I have to say, the warm and loving words Mr. John and Miss Carly recorded for the video of the last day made us tear up. You could feel the love that they had for all the children in the class. I really hope this review helps anyone who is on the fence about Pines Christian. I attended Pines PreK-5th grade and I absolutely loved it. I felt important as a student and had a great relationship with all of my teachers. They do a great job of interacting with students and parents and provide a great environment for personal and academic growth. I'm currently a nanny and have referred my families to both the preschool and elementary school, only to have them fall in love as well. Great activities for the kids like gymnastics, piano and guitar lessons are available after school options. The hours of both the preschool and the elementary school are great too allowing working parents or busy nannies like myself flexible times for pick up. Love this school! read more

I attended Pines Christian School about 20 years ago and Mrs.I was the principal. I absolutely loved the school and the teachers. The school and staff left a great impression on me! I made friends there that I still have to this day. Mrs. I is a great principal. I don't know if most are still there but Mrs Debbie, Mr. Burn, and Mr Troy had very lasting impressions on me! My son attended Pines during his elementary years. We had a great experience there and our son left with an excellent foundation. We moved on to another local private middle school and he is continuing to excell. The teachers and staff were always professional and responsive with any concerns...and with elementary age kids, things will always come up. Our years spent at the school felt like a real team effort, and we saw our son grow both academically and personally. I was initially excited to send my child here bc of the reviews I had read. But please dont be fooled... This school is family owned., I feel the staff cares more about themselfes than they do the kids. If there's a problem, you must address it with the teacher first, if it doesnt get resolved you can go to Troy or Mrs I, which most of the time have no clue as to what's happening and even when you do talk to them it's always your childs fault before them! there is no compassion, there is conflict of interest, lack of professionalism, and communication. Then there are those teachers who put fear into some kids. teaching discipline is one thing but there are ways to show and teach with love and kindness, but making kids cry, afraid to go to school is another. I'm not just talking about my own experience it's from what I hear from others as well. Yes the price is cheaper than most schools But one must ask themselves what's is most important when it comes to choosing a school. keep your eyes and ears open!! Okay, initially I loved this place and that is for one reason...Mr. John. Mr. John is an amazing teacher, my child knew cursive by the end of 1st grade. Besides that this place needs an overhaul. The noise level is way too high. My child came home with headaches from the noise from the other teachers and aides screaming at the kids. And they have this rule that if your child misses more than "x " amount of days from class then you must take summer courses or not pass the grade. My child was at the top of her class but they would not let our child move on to 2nd grade and I pay 300 dollars a month for this school (summer school is the same rate). The extra star was for John and the rest...I'm sorry I tried to like this place but I just can't. Too many cons outweigh the pros. Honestly Troy I would agree with you. But in this case my child was chronically ill throughout the year and still kept her grades up and was a model student. That does not give any school the right to hold back a student for any reason. My kids have tried other private schools and not once is there an attendance policy which holds back a good student for any reason. For this reason I gave this review. I would understand if the student was a troublemaker or a bad student. But in this case you should have made an exception. John is an amazing teacher, keep him! And for 300 bucks plus a month my child will not be held back a grade for any reason. Just an update. I received some hate mail because of my review. Sorry I was just being honest and giving an honest review. If you don't like it, then you should be better about taking care of your students. My child is a straight A student every year. It would just crush her if she was held back. Plus for the monthly fee it would financially hurt us to keep paying the monthly fee year-round. Update your rules, do not retaliate, and do not send hate mail. It is sending the wrong message. read more

My son attended Pines Christian School for two years. Mr. John was his teacher for one of those years. This guy is literally the worst excuse for a teacher there is. I read another review from a parent who said the Mr. John participated in singling her child out and contributed to a very traumatic experience for the child. I had a similar experience with this "Christian teacher". My son had a medical condition which caused him to have to potty more than normal. Mr. John was given a doctor's note and an explanation regarding his overactive bladder condition and instead of being supportive during this embarrassing time for my child he chose to roll his eyes and make unnecessary comments and sighs causing further embarrassment when my son asked to be excused to go to the restroom I wrote him a letter explaining how his behavior was making this bad situation worse and Mr. John got worse. He was rude most of the time to the point that i avoided him altogether whenever possible. Prior to Mr John and since my son has always maintained an A average and loved his teachers. During Mr. Johns time as his teacher he maintained a B average and always said mommy I don't think Mr. John likes me very much. I had again talk to this "Christian teacher" to tell him that there would be problems if he continued to make my son feel this way. Guess he got that message. Thankfully by the end of the year my child's medical condition improved and to date Mr. John is the only teacher that my son has had a negative experience with. read more

I was looking for a private school for my son when I found Pines Christian School. I was very impressed with the secure campus and the preschool teacher. She was friendly, well organized and my son loved her. The school is great. My son loves The Pines. He has had several very caring teachers over the years. The administration is the best. There are many field trips which makes learning fun. My son is very advanced and he loves to learn. The small classroom size is ideal for individual attention. The school also promotes family activities i.e. pancake breakfast, holiday auction, Mother's and Father's Day celebration, and the harvest festival. I love The Pines school and staff! This school has been a true blessing to me and my daughter. My daughter started out at a high end private school in Redondo Beach and cried everyday. The staff was cold, education was good but there was no discipline policy. I learned how important a discipline policy was once my daughter started to get bullied. I went in search for a school and found The Pines. It's like family teaching my daughter. We enrolled out of cycle and the staff made sure we were welcomed. Fall 2015 we started Kindergarten and Mrs I told me my daughter would be reading by Christmas and I must admit I didn't really believe her. Well during Christmas break not only was my daughter reading she was doing math (addition) problems and pretty good at reading the clock too! I've since referred two families to The Pines and one is re-enrolling for Fall 2016 and the other starts this summer. I understand that every school will have short comings and things I may not like. But The Pines is one of those places where you know they care about your child. I have not had an issue that I couldn't resolve with one of the staff members. Not only does the school provide a great curriculum but they offer tutoring, breakfast/lunch/snacks, educational field trips, great summer camp program and only closed 9 days a year. And that's just to name a FEW of the many benefits. They also have several parent volunteers which is nice to have. I'm a working mom and I'm thankful to have other parents involved on campus. I've been on a few field trips and found them very educational. Any bad reviews for this school is either poor communication or just a misfit. Not every school is right for every family and that's okay but I'm glad I found the school that fits me and my daughter's needs. read more

My daughter has attended Pines Christian since preschool and I for one am a very satisfied parent. My daughter is polite and respectful and a real joy to be around. I could not say this is all my own doing, as she is in school most of the day. The teachers and staff at Pines Christian are fair and understanding. My son attended Pines from 2009-2014 and all I can say is that he had a good foundation (both academically and spiritually) because of this school. He graduated with straight A's. Ms. Goosby was his first grade teacher, Mrs. I was his 2nd grade, Mrs. Higgins his third, Mrs. Martin his 4th and Mrs. Chong was his 5th grade teacher. Also, Ms. Linda, was his P.E. teacher :) All of them were great! Mrs. I and Mr. Troy we're always there for us if we have concerns. Also, you don't have to worry about lunch and snacks, it's included on the tuition fee. What I love about this school is that they're open from 6AM - 6PM except for Fridays, they have the kids night out and the school is open until 9PM. They're also open during summer :) (They're really never close except for holidays). Being a single mom and having a full time job was hard and Pines helped me A LOT! My son learned responsibility, accountability, he's very disciplined and learned good manners and right conduct. When he transferred to public middle school, he applied everything he learned from Pines. All his middle school teachers loved him :) They told me how polite he was and my son greets everyone with respect. His middle school teachers until now emails and/or text me saying they miss Ethan. He was unanimously voted to be the valedictorian (just to prove that he had a very good foundation). My son just started high school this year and still applies what he learned from Pines. He never say curse words or say bad words (because it's not tolerated at Pines, Mrs. I would make you do a lot of standards). I was surprised to hear about a negative review when I mentioned Pines to a coworker who was looking for a school for their daughter. I just didnt believe it and so I had to read it for myself. I havent heard anything but rave reviews for this school and staff. I have referred people for years to the place because I live around the corner and I see the kids happy and having a great time when I take my dog for a walk. They make noise, what kids don't lol, but it makes me happy that they get to be kids :). They also have a great parents night off. The kids get to stay at the school, eat dinner and watch a movie and not get picked up till 9pm for less than $10!!! The staff has let me bring my niece when she visits for the summer. I hope that you will check out this school for yourself, I would send my kids if I had any, and I will continue to refer people. read more
