Review for Pink Poodle - Visit on 10/4/25 I went with my best friend and her mom, and when we first walked in my mood immediately improved. The store itself is visually stunning -- I loved the look and atmosphere right away. We browsed through the displays and were especially impressed by the jewelry area. We moved on to the headdresses and wigs, which caught our attention. The wigs looked to be in good condition, though priced higher than we expected. Some of them were placed too high up to reach, and only after we had looked at a few did we notice a small sign taped to one of the mannequin heads saying not to touch them without staff assistance. This wasn't obvious when we first walked by, so it was a little confusing. Later, while checking out some decorative headbands, I tried to take one down to look at it more closely. A staff member came over and asked if I was going to a party. When I explained I just wanted to try it on, she firmly told us not to touch items unless we were planning to buy. My friend joined me, and the staff member continued to tell us we were handling things wrong. It felt awkward because we hadn't noticed any clear signs in that section before, but after she pointed it out we saw similar wording posted elsewhere in the store. Overall, the store itself is very unique and worth seeing, but I don't think it's very teen-friendly. The policies and signage could be more clearly displayed and consistent throughout the store to prevent misunderstandings. If you go, I recommend bringing an older person along, and definitely take a full walk around to read all the posted rules before touching anything. read more

As fun as it is to look around in the store... I had a terrible experience with consigning my items there. I totally recommend that one finds somewhere else to take their items. I heard this from other resources so I followed up on my items that I took into them. My first visit in follow up was almost 3 weeks after I left my inventory there. They had not even taken the items out of the totes they were hidden in a back room. Their excuse was that the person that did this job was on vacation. As you may know if they don't sell your items in 90 days, they're all theirs to keep. A month into our contract we still had discussions about where my items were. I've honestly have not been there, but was shocked at the treatment my sister received! Don't mess with my family! My sister was looking for a mother of the groom dress. She went in with her husband and she tried on several. She narrowed it down to 2 & asked if they would hold them till the next morning as she wanted me to go back with her and decide. The sales staff said yes, and took her name. The owner came by and rudely said we don't do that. "I sell 15 dresses a day". I'm guessing that's an exaggeration! The dresses my sister had picked out were around $150/each! I told my sister that we should check Von Maur first, before going back there. The customer service at Von Maur was exceptional! The staff went out of their way to ensure we found what we needed and they were so attentive. The dressing room is well lit and lovely and we found a beautiful, floor length dress in a petite size and it was on clearance for $62. It would have been twice the price at The Pink Poodle!! My first experience with consignments and this was quite unique. I guess that's how it works where the customer has to do all of the work and checking if things have been sold and keeping the account active I had 5 evening gowns averaging $300 each. Sold one and received $70 which is fair. After several months, I realize the rest were not going to sell, so I went to pick them up and I could only find three of the four. Where is the other gown was it sold and I not compensated? I will never know, but I also had a pair of $60 sandals brand new in the box that I never wore and was told I could not have them back. Anything under $100 they keep. I guess I didn't read the fine print but if I wanted to donate, I would've gone to Goodwill. read more

I took some clothes here for consignment & the owner looked at them with disdain & asked me, what size even are these? I replied 26/28 (not sure why as they were clearly marked). She said, but what size even is that? I try again, 4x. And she says...but who wears that size?! No one wears that size & if they do, they don't buy clothes because they want to lose weight. At this point...I am so shocked at what she is saying...it doesn't even really register. I had well over 1000 dresses when I was that size. And I never wanted or intended to lose weight. I'm currently a size 6/8 & this woman has no clue what my story is & has NO business owning a clothing store & judging women's bodies. I leave 3 dresses with her, 2 my current size & one 3x. After I had a chance to process how rude this interaction was, I wrote her an email asking for my clothes back as I cannot support her business. I have been shopping here for a few years and I do find the options really good from clothes to housewares. I see a lot of reviews were people talk about the clutter and owner's attitude and I think they are being unfair. Yes the store has a lot of items but people bring so many things in and everything needs a place. They have also been in business 20 years! That speaks volumes in my opinion. What might seem rude based on comments about the owner are also unfair. The owner is always helpful and yes maybe she is not quick to say hello but she is also very busy taking in new items and in her 20 yrs of business her personality should not be a reason you are not shopping there. If it is then you are missing out on some wonderful finds and items you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. Think of it as a treasure hunt if goodies! The owner is a 100% scam artist. She is very pushy, even if you say your on a budget. She puts marked up price tags over lower ones on jewelry. When she rings up some of your items she takes the tag off so you can't question the price after leaving. She rang up a $69 dress as $99 and here I didn't look till after I left, but the price tags were gone from the dress. One specific piece was labeled as a 2 unit it came to me as a single piece with a marked up tag. Don't trust anything you purchase there. She glued a bedpost onto a wooden headboard, tried to tell me I broke it when the thing fell off. I picked up the little post & it was wet, there was a contain of non wood glue near by. The owner accosted my friend when she brought her tween children in so she could browse even though they were behaving like young angles. She's a thief in a shop. read more

They even gave us flavored water. They have a wide arrange of clothing that is high quality with many name brands to choose from at reasonable prices. They even have items for home décor. Owner is rude and full of herself. What a turn off. The sales ladies seem nice and welcoming anytime I've been here. The owner walks around with her nose tipped up in the air and only acknowledges people who appear to have money. I went in with no makeup on, wind blown hair, a t-shirt and leggings. She made no attempt to approach me or ask if I needed anything. But when another couple of ladies walked in she greeted them quickly. There are some cute items in there, but way over priced. Might as well get things new. Very small area for plus size ladies, too. Either way, I can't stand the thought of seeing that rude owners face anymore. There are always new employees there. I've never written a review before but feel obligated to warn others of the horrific customer service and sketchy consignment policies at the Pink Poodle. The owner was very rude and insulting when inspecting my clothing for consignment (she ended up taking most of my things anyway). There were just so many derogatory comments that were inappropriate. I should have bailed right away. Like an idiot, I returned the next day to bring more items for consignment and found all of my items from the previous day still scattered around in the back, UNLABELED. There was no indication that the items were mine. In other words, had my clothing eventually sold, I would not have received any money for them. This is where the sketchy policies and business practices come in: All items under $100 value immediately become property of Pink Poodle. This is not how most consignment shops work. They took $10 for the "registration fee" and my clothing items but I highly suspect the items would have never made it to the sales floor. They just wanted my 10 bucks. There are hidden fees galore: If clothing is not on hangers, you must purchase hangers. (She is psycho about hangers). $5 service fee to polish leather goods. $2 fee to mail you a check. Buyer's fees for hangers, tags, and prep. Etc, etc. As a shopper, I did browse around the store. I found the prices to be very high for used clothes. I wondered who would by my crap for those prices. Nobody. The answer is nobody. One positive for the Pink Poodle is the staff member Natasha. She was very pleasant and polite. tl;dr The owner and her husband are rude, insulting and run a shady business. The Pink Poodle is a glorified Goodwill with owners who act like it's Rodeo Drive. As soon as we walked in we immediately felt unwelcome. We first went to the " lululemon" rack and all their items were off brand there was only like 2 ligit lululemon items. It was a little weird, but we thought nothing of it. It just got worse and worse as we stayed longer. We went to the dress section and found a few dresses we liked, me and my friend wanted to help each other so we asked for 1 dressing room, the person took like 5 mins to think about it and kept asking our mom if she was ok with it. We tried dresses that we thought were cute and went to look at them in the 3 way mirror, as soon as we got there a lady walked up to us she asked if we had an event we were going to and after we said yes she said we don't "play dress up" we're both 14 and felt like she thought we were children. Everytime we tried on they gave up dirty looks, we left because we felt like we were being heavily judged. On the way out they were all glaring at us. As we got in the car our mom said that the same lady that asked us about the event asked her if we were lying about where we were going. We really don't recommend this store, never going back! I'm giving a second star because this place has so much potential! It's a very large store, with different areas for shoes, vintage, designer, jewelry, and clearance. If you like dogs, make sure to pet Ellie, the friendly poodle mascot! The selection is huge, so there's probably something for everybody in here. However, the abudance of items, the overcrowded displays, and the absence of signs make the sections hard to browse. The heavy rococo décor is too kitschy to look chic, and yet not quirky enough to make the ambiance pleasant. Prices are all over the place: very expensive bland "designer" shoes, cohabit with reasonable groovy vintage finds. The young salesperson has always been very nice and helpful, but the owner is so condescending, it's insulting. I've been to a few estate sales she organized in the Madison area, and my experience was the same: messy, overpriced bland selection, with a few good finds, but horrible interactions with the owner. I legit don't know what everyone else's problem is. The staff are standard retail (be nice to them and they'll be nice to you) and the selection is awesome. You need to hunt a bit for a true bargain, but that's standard for consignment stores. I'm in the process of deciding whether to get a $500 Cole Haan leather jacket or several.925 sterling rings right now for under $100, so there are definitely bargains to be had. The feedback about it being crowded and a little gauche is spot on, but it feels like shopping my glam aunt's attic, which is charming and completely unlike shopping a thrift store or Nordstrom Rack, and that's a good thing. read more

The minute you walk in the clerks size you up, judge your financial status and treat you like you are way beneath them. The merchandise is outdated and way overpriced. Why not go to a good store and find something current and on sale? Had a very poor experience bringing dozens of brand new clothing( with tags) for consignment. When I called about the items, I was told they accept those brands. We walked in with our hands full of clothing and no one acknowledged us. After waiting what seemed to be 5 mins. the owner said I'll be with you in a minute. We walked around the store and when we stopped back she told us she couldn't accept any of my items. Honestly I don't know if she even believe she looked at the them. The owner is very self absorbed, arrogant and rude. After seeing the merchandise and how it was priced, I would rather buy new clothing or go to Goodwill where there is a better selection, items are more reasonably priced and similar brand names can be found. I'm so torn on this place, and now that I read the reviews I don't feel like I was being overly sensitive (which was my initial thought). I am not a designer bag or clothing type of girl, I've just always been that way. While my friends will drop hundreds on Coach bags and who-ever-else is "in", I'll take that extra money and vacation or attend an event. I came in on my lunch break looking for a couple of very specific items. One woman approached me within a few minutes and asked if I needed any help. She was super friendly and pointed me in the direction I needed to go (trust me, you'll need help navigating if you're on a schedule). She wasn't pushy and she didn't hover while I looked through the merchandise. I headed up to the counter to look at their jewelry, where she offered to hold onto the merchandise I had in my hand. She even took the time to ask my name and understand what I was looking for. Another woman approached us and that's when it all went south for me. While the first woman helped pick out pieces that she thought would work for me, this other woman said "be careful though, some of those earrings are meant to be in a set". She sort of budged in on the first saleswoman, who had been successfully helping me. While they were both looking through the jewelry counter, I was looking at some of the prices and was surprised at how much they were asking, granted they were very nice pieces, they're still used. By now I realize that the woman that budged in was the owner and she has scared the first saleswoman away which was disappointing because she was so nice and helpful. The owner then asked if I was interested in a fur cover-up instead of the pashmina I had picked out. I told her that fur wasn't really my style, but thanks. She said "well maybe you'd like to try one on, you're going to regret not getting something warmer". That was a little off-putting but I was willing to look past it. Another customer approached the counter and wanted to check out so the owner helped her. I overheard the woman stating that she was looking for something specific and couldn't find it this time around. The owner asked who had been helping her because "not all of her staff is as thorough as they should be". I've worked in a variety of different positions but one rule that everyone should follow is to not throw your staff under the bus, no matter what they did (or didn't do). As I was looking around the counter I heard the owner say to a gentleman that was also behind the counter "I asked 'so-and-so' to condense this jewelry and look what she did. She separated sets, put all of these necklaces together, it's just a mess! In the 13 years I've been in business I shouldn't be surprised at what people do, but this is common sense." I'm pretty sure she was talking about the saleswoman that helped me originally, who happened to be within ear-shot. While the owner was friendly enough to me, I just don't have tolerance for people that belittle others. And doing that in front of your customers is just classless. While this store has a lot of really cute and unique stuff, I'm just not sure if I'll go back. A lot of the prices were ridiculous for consignment and I just can't stop thinking about how this woman treated her employee. As I left the store I noticed the Mercedes that was backed up DIRECTLY in front of the store, in a no-parking zone. Personalized plate "Poodle2"....wonder who drives that. I really like this shop. We have found several great Kentucky Derby hats and dresses there throughout the years. However, staff could use a lesson in customer service. The past two times I have been in there I've walked away feeling like it was a complete bother to wait on me or check me out. Don't even go down the path of trying to put something on consignment unless you don't work for a living and have all day to drive out to the Westside at their convenience. You're making the assumption that a person posts on the same day they had their "experience" at a store. That is an incorrect assumption. Although I posted on Jan 16, my visit to your store was prior to that and I stand by what I said in my post. If you have since moved to a new location and don't carry certain goods anymore, that's fine, but it doesn't change the experience I had when I visited your store nor my review of it. Over the years, your business has had several Yelp pages and each one has been heavily loaded with one-star reviews, most complaining about the merchandise and rudeness of staff (and some about the consignment process and results). Looking at the reviews here since your latest move, those are still problems and something that should be worked on. Instead of being defensive, try "hearing" what people find wrong with your company and then "work" to solve those problems instead of ignoring them. read more

Tried to shop there but the clothes are so crowded and so expensive that you can get better prices at a department store sale.I also brought clothes for consignment. Everything I brought in was Talbots or Eileen Fisher, mostly unused. The owner only picked a few items, charged me $10 to sign up and said if they don't sell within 60 days they become property of the store. Of course, nothing ever sold so now they have my clothing at no cost to them + $10. What a scam. read more

This is the first negative review I've posted for any business - anywhere - ever. I have to do it. I've been to this place a half a dozen times. Each time I've found the selection to be decent, and the prices to be exorbitant. They charge as though everything is new. The biggest problem, however, is that EVERY person I've dealt with here is unflinchingly nasty, and an absolute snob. Ladies? You work in a secondhand shop. It ain't Hermes. Why have I taken the attitude so many times? I dunno, but lesson learned... I'll never give this snappish, ungrateful staff my money again. I was shocked to see many complaints about the Pink Poodle on Yelp. My experiences with the store have been so opposite, I just had to put in my two cents worth. Instead of giving to other stores as a donation, I decided to try taking some things to Pink Poodle. It has been a great experience. Everyone friendly, and helpful, even when I asked for assistance carrying things in, they responded right away with smiles. They have checked off and accepted everything the three times I have taken items there, clothing, sunglasses, shoes and a very large vase. The owner wants all clothing on hangers, pressed and fresh. Good idea. Easier to sell. I've already made enough to get a check (A check is available once you have made $50.00.) The Pink Poodle generously gives 50% of each item's sale price to the donor. I agree with the girl who said if you are friendly they are friendly to you. Also if you have a complaint about prices, think the billing was wrong, or whatever, go into the store nicely in a friendly way, and state your issue. No store owner wants to get a bad reputation for a misunderstanding or an honest mistake that could have easily been settled. HJM read more

Stopped in yesterday while driving by. Saw what I thought could be a cute place to browse and kill some time while in the area. Should have walked out when I saw the overpriced used clothes and the overwhelming, almost dizzying array of stuff. Should have really walked out when the first person sitting in the middle of the store, pricing items, looked at me with disdain and said hello in a very unhappy, snobby tone, like I was interrupting her work or putting her out. I had the feeling she was one of the owners or managers. Walked towards the back, attacked by a sales clerk, which is fine. She's just doing her job, but would not take the usual hints to let me just look. Ok, thank you, ok I'll just start looking around, ok I'll call you if I need help. I was looking at the Clara Soonwoo stuff, super cute clothes, but pricey. What got her to go away, was when I asked if anything was on sale. She seemed insulted. Stated something about go look at the clearance racks. She walked away. Ok, maybe I was just a glutton for punishment that day.....thought I all ready invested my time so I'll check out the furniture and dishes towards the back. I took a cell phone call I was expecting, starting walking towards the front to take it outside in my car, stopped at a rack in front, glanced at a few things, and I hear this Ma'am, Ma'am! I turn, the front desk clerk is waggling her finger at me and scolding me. She states with a such a scowl on her face, I had a brief flashback to grade school in the library, "We do not allow cell phone calls in here!" She says, fairly loudly and with clear disdain, I might add. She clearly was annoyed with me and scolded me like a ten year old, as if I should know better. She literally looked down her nose at me and wanted me to feel ashamed. I was sooo embarrassed and humiliated! I actually felt ashamed and I could feel my face starting to burn! I'm a grown woman and I have this condescending, sneering clerk, make me feel like a third grader. I did not see a sign stating the policy, and if there is one, there's so much other clutter that I didn't see it. Ok, I kind of get the policy, they're trying to have a boutique-like atmosphere, I guess. If she would have just been more polite about it. Say something like, excuse me, sorry to interrupt, would you mind taking that outside, in an apologetic tone, I would have said, oh, sorry and said I was just walking out. Besides it's not against the law, it's not unreasonable for people to talk on their cell phones, I wasn't being obnoxious about it and I WAS headed towards the door. I get annoyed by cell phone talkers just like anyone else, so I have some understanding of that, but it was the way she spoke to me and the look of complete disdain that was the problem. I'm a pretty tough person, but the whole experience left me with feelings of anger, humiliation and embarrasment. There is a vibe and atmosphere in that store from the floor design to the attitudes of the clerks that is so completely off-putting. It's like the fruit from a poisonous tree. Instead of walking out, I ran! Glad I didn't buy the $80 sunminwoo pants I was planning on purchasing after I finished my phone call!!! I've never felt the need to write a review about any place; but it was such a terrible and humiliating experience, they are owed one!
