While the quality of coffee is definitely top notch with quite a smooth organic blend, unfortunately the customer service was so appalling and rude that 1) I will not step foot in this establishment ever again and 2) I felt compelled to tell others about it. Let me explain...
I ordered two takeaway coffees and a slice from a 50-something-year old woman at the counter. By the way she spoke about the food, I assumed she was the owner. After paying the $12.50 or so, the woman began to place the slice into a paper bag. At this point, I politely said, "Excuse me, would you mind cutting the slice in half so my father and I can share the slice?"
To my surprise, the woman stopped abruptly and said, quote, "Really? Can't you just break it in half?" And I said, "Excuse me?" She replied, "Just break it! I've already put it in the bag" And I said, "Ummm, perhaps in the spirit of good customer service, you would at least be able to cut it?" to which she replied, "Well maybe if you had asked me before I began to put it in the bag, I would have." At this point, I was quite shocked and simply grabbed the bag and replied, "It would have literally take you less than 2.5 seconds to take it out of the bag and cut it, but fine!" And I left.
So here's my beef with this experience - customer service is such an important part of the hospitality industry and it doesn't take much to keep customers happy and coming back. Whether or not this woman was just having a bad day or is raking in so much money she doesn't want to please people, is beyond me. All I know is that the complete disregard and apathy she showed me when I asked her to perform such a menial task within the duties of a coffee shop was so off-putting that I won't be coming back or recommending this place and she has lost future business. This is quite a travesty given the food and coffee quality is good! Alas, don't cut your nose to spite your face. read more
