I found a Groupon deal for a two hour recording session and snatched it up immediately. Then my son gathered a few friends and made an appointment to record a jazz tune. He made the appointment via email, which took a few back-and-forth messages to coordinate the time, but they were great to work with. The location is in a rough part of town and there's no signage from the street. To get in to the studio, you have to open a chain link gate with "no trespassing" signs all over it. But we called and confirmed, this is where we should be, and proceeded. Rowen met the group and took some time to understand the kids' goal for the session and gave suggestions on best placement and how they should record (they ended up doing it all at once rather than in sections, due to time constraints.) Trying not to be an overbearing parent, I left while they did their recording and came back at the end. They all beamed with pride as they let me listen to the recorded song. It sounded good! I'm sure there was magic in the background that I don't understand that helped contribute to the professionalism of the recording. On our way out, I ran into a friend who was here to record a commercial. It seems that Audio Inn Recording does much more than music and is a popular recording destination. We will very likely return when the kids are ready to jam and throw down another song.

As a professional musician that attended Berklee, SLDP is on par with the benchmarks set by other pro-level facilities that i've used in the past. Clean and accessible, i'm able to consistently get in to have productive sessions with great equipment. Everyone i've met at this studio, students and faculty alike, have been kind and easy to work with. Most people come here to improve themselves, and there's a sense that everyone leaves their ego at the door.
