Lived here for almost a year. Staff are unreasonable and unprofessional at just about every turn. Moved my roommates and I to a completely different unit (we had been assigned to one unit the entirety of the summer) 3 hours before we were scheduled to move in with the excuse that "it was a storage room and was not fit to live in". The reassigned unit we received was not move in ready at all. There were broken tiles, burned and stained carpet, water damaged ceilings, missing smoke detectors, and mold in just about every room. On top of all of that the entire claim to security they have is a joke. Had a friend visit and came out to the parking lot and the front fender of their car was dented in and when i asked to check cameras they first said they "wouldn't be clear enough to get a plate number" and after checking for a closer camera that may be able to at least get something, I found that the one near visitor parking was quite literally dangling by a thread. Found a camera facing the visitor parking lot that was in the pool area and when I asked to check footage they told me their whole system was down and needed to be fixed. THE reviews are either fake or lying! My daughter has lived here for one year and the apartments aren't habitable. She unknowingly renewed her lease after feeling pressured. There's mold, water damage, corrosive, filthy carpets, dated appliances and even the exterior is horrible. It isn't gated like they advertise and there has been shootings outside my daughters apartments. They don't update the apartments and have bugs infestation in some units. Corporate nor the office will return my calls. I will be contacting a lawyer and the city code on them. read more

While I was at work in the middle of a 90+ degree day, the maintenance staff decided to turn off my AC to leave my dog in the heat. I was alerted to this by email around 1pm, then after leaving work early to check on my dog, I learned they had turned off my AC much earlier than 10am. They claimed this was proactive, when in fact it's negligence. When expressing my frustration, the manager would refuse to apologize, and instead pointed to a previous Google review I left, as if to use it as ammunition for an argument. Speaking of ammunition, why has no one discussed the shooting that at The Pointe on April 30th, 2020? The only email is residents received can be summed up to "guns are not allowed here." Are we not owed an apology AT THE LEAST for the danger this community was put in?! I've never dealt with such inept, unprofessional, childish, and flat out ridiculous management in my life. read more

Our daughter has stay there for 2 year and some of the work orders have never been completed. As a parent if you are paying for the stay please choose another place. I have complained and submitted work orders over and over again only for the problems to be minimized with quick fixes. Last year for getting our money.... read more

So let me start off with the good. The pool is actually up kept and the pool area is extremely nice and updated. There were fun activities to do throughout the time there and you can't beat free food as a college student. The student workers are wonderful and the maintenance workers try their best with what they have. Now to the reason why I have rated it 1 star (the few positives make it a deserving 1). My first 3 and a half months were great, then my window issue occurred. That window to my knowledge is still leaking. Five work orders were submitted from November 26, 2016, to early this year (2018). The poor maintenance workers tried to do everything they could, but it was such an internal issue, nothing could be done. Every time I would ask the property manager, Jennifer Earles, what will be done, she would constantly give me the runaround. Or tell me it was an hour fix that the company they hired kept rescheduling (that company must have been really busy to reschedule for over a year) in an email that I still have. We event submitted work orders on water damage throughout the apartment to only be told the wet spots on the ceiling were not water damage at all. We (my roommates and I), however, did track the growth of the water damage. Come January 2018 I began to constantly get sick, tired and headaches, more so that the previous years. I had allergy-like symptoms, but only in the apartment and mostly just my room alone. While my roommates did have animals, I was tested and found to not be allergic to them. After a few months of complaining, my dad decided to check for mold (and with the history of the leaking window for over a year and a half, he figured it would be better to do it himself). After testing, it was found our apartment tested positive for a type of toxic black mold (Stachybotrys) near our pantry door. Our consultant believed that more was most likely in the HVAC unit and should not be disturbed unless with professionals due to the health risks that could come from it. Jennifer was handed all the paperwork that stated this information. A few days later during a normal annual unit inspection, she had planned on opening the HVAC unit to replace the air filter. I managed to stop them since I was there. She was willing to possibly put my health and the health of her maintenance workers in danger. She seemed angry that I was not going to let her put the filter in a place that could contain toxic mold if disturbed. After talking to the regional manager for a few weeks about getting out of the lease, they sent us a NDA. We quickly declined due to it stating we could not go after them if I became sick in the future due to this mold as well as other issues within the NDA. They were trying to hide the information, but the local university (Troy University) paper, The Tropolitan, already covered two articles on it. They even told us they hired their own company to look at the mold. I waited for the day they were supposed to come and they never did show up and we were not explained as to why they didn't. It reached the point where we were getting ready to go after them due to all of this. They had me pay for April's rent, only to tell me on April 5, that I needed to move out and turn in my key by April 7. I am still on the lease to this day and they refuse to let me end my lease, but I no longer have access to my apartment. This place is honestly a joke, the few good things about it are heavily outweighed by the negatives. read more

I'm only living here because of how screwed up Troy's housing is for non-freshmen. I constantly hear gunshots outside my window and items were stolen out of my car. For a gated community I don't even feel safe at night. The interior is kinda crappy and you can tell it hasn't been updated in a while even though they claim "new amenities". If you want friends over, that'll be a problem because they'll boot their car even if there's 30-something spots open and it's midnight. If you don't want to get booted, make sure you park in the handicap spots as long as you DON'T have a handicap tag, because apparently that's okay. If you're thinking of living here, I'd highly suggest you find somewhere else, even if it's a bit more expensive. The Pointe is definitely not worth the money. read more

Daughter lives at The Pointe of Troy. For over a year her roommates and she tried to get Jennifer the property Manager to fix several leak issues. I myself talked to Jennifer on a couple occasions. It was one excuse after another. She finally said that the owner had to approve repairs for new gutters and other issues and had not done it. My daughter started getting sick in January with respiratory issues. She contacted Jennifer who told her she was most likely allergic to the animals in the apartment. We decided to have her tested - not allergic to animals. My daughter then posted something to this site and was contacted by Jennifer. When daughter went in to see her, she offered her $50 and to move to another unit. Put she basically wanted the posting removed or changed to say that they have been helpful. We then decided to hire a company to test the apartment for issues with the leaks and mold we could visibly see, the results are back and the mold in the apartment is TOXIC. We meet with Jennifer and gave her report and told her to let our daughter out of her lease (she wanted to move her to another apartment but that is not the one we leased and it most likely has issues as well.). We told Jennifer that we wanted to have our environmental consultant we hired to be onsite when they look and that it even says not to disturbed the air unit without a professional. Our consultant said that someone had tried to cover this issue up prior as there was paint over the mold and a spot that had been cut and replaced. Today Jennifer and maintenance show up to change the filter. If my daughter was not there, they would have changed the filter causing more issues. Again - Jennifer has the report. The lack of general concern from Jennifer tells me that these individuals are willing to hide a concern. With that being done, I decided to write this out here for all to see. I am going to talk with Jennifer again today to get the number for the owner as this is unacceptable. The health of my family and others that live in that apartment should be the concern of the owner. Not trying to save a buck and try to hide the issues. If any news agency would like the full report or all the copies of tickets for work orders, please comment below. I am above frustrated and was trying to work with them but they do not care about the safety. UPDATE: Talked with regional manager Erin about the situation. They are going to get a 2nd opinion which would be the right thing for them to do. Reiterated that we wanted our own environmental consultant there when they open the door to air unit so he can be there as well. She was cordial and offered another apartment or a hotel room. I declined the apartment - I don't want daughter in any of those rooms as they can't guarantee it is free from the same issue. Added additional photos to main post. UPDATE #2: Received Call from Jennifer(property manager) - they are still trying to get a environmental company to go to apartment from Pelham to do their own check on the mold. No date set yet. UPDATE #3: Still nothing. Moved most of daughters items out of unit and she is staying with friends. See pics below on how bad this place has fallen down. Rot everywhere. Leaks throughout her apartment. UPDATE #4: Finally - will be meeting Friday at 10am at the apartment with our Environmental guy and the company they hired to check the air unit. Regardless - the report has toxic mold on the outside of the wall. This just seems to be another step. They should just do the right thing and let those kids out of the lease and get out of that apartment. The pics of the other neglect by management below shows that things have slipped there. If anyone knows the actual owners let me know. UPDATE #5: They never showed up with their person. Instead sent a letter to allow daughter to get out of lease but want her to not discuss the issue of the mold, and basically pretend it never happened. Had to pay rent. Lawyer reviewing this as I will not allow this to be hidden. They should have listened when we first tried to work with them. Watch it - don't sign away your rights to protect yourself as mold can cause issues as time goes on. Continue to share this and inform others. UPDATE #6: We will not be signing an agreement to give away our rights. I have sent letter and waiting on the Pointe to refund this month's rent back to us and also the cost of the environmental report. Only now are they willing to worry about the welfare of the people in the apartment. They were not worried for the whole 1 1/2 years that it was reported about leaks and issues. If I could give them zero stars, I would. This complex is a total scam. Their show room is NOTHING like what you get and the apartments are DISGUSTING!!! Everything is old, out dated and nothing had been cleaned prior to move-in day. It's always loud, so don't expect to have peace and quiet. I worked for the pointe of troy. I started on 6/1/18 the day asst. plus bought the property. I work very hard to fix problems addressed with the students living there I was maintenance tech. The two collage students are not maintenance tech. They don't know law and codes when the property was taken over they put a new manager in and has no clue of the laws. Also i'm sorry to say I was let go due to having epilepsy and a service dog. during turn I worked over a 100 hours every two weeks when I felt funny my dog which is allowed by law to be with me they got rude. so I was let go. Mold is a issue a/c issues part time maintenance people working on it without being certified. Also bed bugs are a big issue. i'm sorry I couldn't due more but they broke ADA laws because I have a service animal. read more
