I would say that it's quite a friendly pub and that it caters for everybody including students, adults, OAP's and workers. They have a wide range of draught and bottled beers, a range of house wines, a range of bottled beers and a full bar of spirits. They're food ranges from baked potatoes through to steaks and pies and are served as traditional pub food, i.e., it fills the gap but is nothing A-La-Carte! I wouldn't recommend this place for a rowdy night out, it's more as pub you can go for a chat and a meal and a few games of pool with a mate. The service is friendly and the beer sinks down a treat!

I was refused to choose a starter dish from the Market Manu and a main dish from the Main Menu, even though I offered to pay full price. The reason given were mostly that the chef did not permit that. I think this lets down the level of customer service as it did not seem reasonable. Perhaps this should be made clear to customers at the start so they will know that you can only choose from one or the other menu. Otherwise it was a pleasant evening.

Take Greasby village for example, did you know that this part of Britain could potentially have been one of the first place in the UK to be occupied by humans?? In his book 'Ancient Britain' (published in 1997) James Dyer describes the structure found at Greasby and states his belief that it "seems almost certainly to be the earliest dwelling found in Britain". He dates it at around 8000 BC!!!!!! Damn!!!!! Thus dining at the Manor for me anyway is an experience and a half with this newly found observational knowledge. A lot of people will say what does it matter!!! Who cares!! Well I guess I'm just a curious soul who is interested in little details like, how old is this place and what was here previously!! This cosy candle lit restaurant retreat in the Greasby village will have you coming back for more. That is if you are an avid "British cuisine" fan which unfortunately I am not. So my enjoyment of the place kinda slows down when it comes to the food. Although the Pot roasted shank of lamb cooked with apricots and raisins in a red wine sauce was ok, it was nothing more. Other options include Roast suckling pig (puke!!!!!!!!) with a sage and apple relish served with a rich(politically incorrect no?) gravy / Homemade game(is it addictive) pie cooked with root vegetables and beer with a pastry crust(very healthy!!??). Fillet steak stuffed with haggis(sounds wrong always dirty almost, Hagggis, like its gone off or something) and coated with a Drambuie glaze. Look it ain't for me the food, but it might be for you. It is a gorgeous place and I would happily take a lady friend for a romantic dinner here and be ok with having the "ok" food as long as the evening is a breeze which the ambiance of this place should be a doddle. Contrary to popular belief, or at least, my belief when I went there, this isn't named after John…read moreLennon's son Julian but the award-winning chef at the helm, who happens to be called Julian. In what appears to be a quaint little boutique is this excellent restaurant with a very high standard of service; all the staff seem to have been very well-trained. In fact the main man takes it upon himself to check if everything's okay at all the tables, and his wife chats to customers too. You can't really say fairer than that. The menu tells you where all the food and ingredients have originated from, and you can see that they really prioritise local businesses... heck, they're all local businesses. It's always very full, which speaks volumes for its popularity and the loveliness of its food but it also means you might have to book ahead. There are some great starters, desserts and accompaniments, and the John Dory I had was just delicious. I find it so hard to locate that fish in restaurants so I was more than impressed that I got to indulge here. In all, well worth making the trip to the Wirral for!

She spoke to my table with a sense of 'I know best' when my allergies are nothing to be joked about. Lino's falls into this category and there's so much food to choose from that you might just find your mind completely overwhelmed, with specials to boot. It's all good too which makes the choice even harder! The first thing that struck me about this restaurant was just how traditional it was. You're met at the door, your coats are taken and the staff really do make the effort to have a little chat with you, on an informal basis which I do find far more comfortable. The food portions here are really generous, so much so that you might have to forego dessert for a starter and vice versa. It's Italian-stroke-Mediterranean in flavour and everything is fresh, zingy and full of pizzazz. Plus the service is absolutely excellent, as you may have garnered from the above. You're allowed to take your time and that's classically important when it comes to this type of food. The slogan of the restaurant is 'nothing is too much trouble'. You dirty beggars can stop your wild imaginations right now, it simply means that they're willing to accommodate your needs tenfold. And those needs are related to FOOD. And service.
