Ok, you're going to have to forgive me, this is my first time on Qype and my first ever review.
The following review is my own impression of the restaurant.
So..
As a wedding anniversary and birthday celebration, I took my partner and very good friend for a meal on Saturday night.
I had booked a table about 8 weeks in advance as we were led to believe that it's a very busy place. As you can imagine the anticipation was running high.
As we entered the restaurant we were led to our table straight away, we were hoping to have a seat by the bar area for a Gin Cocktail.
Our table was rather small (in my opinion for 3 people) and somewhat placed in a corner of the restaurant.
Our waitress was very nice, very attentive.
The menu looked very good, for my starter I fancied the 'Potted Pig', I was told that this was a warm pate, served with pickles. My mouth was watering from the start. I then ordered the 'Slow cooked Belly Pork'.
On ordering wine, our waitress had no idea about the two wines I would have liked with our meal First sign of bad things to happen.
My starter arrived, well, it certainly wasn't a pate, more like shredded pork, warmed and served in a jar. Talk about tasteless, no seasoning, certainly not something I would have ordered in the first place and the so-called pickles, well that consisted of a piece of beetroot no bigger than my finger nail and a piece of onion (I think).
Next, the belly pork. Lovely crackling on the skin, poor execution on the pork meat.
Now I know the 'In-Thing' with restaurants and vegetables is this aldente business but I have to say mine were raw, warm yes, but still raw.
The saving grace for this restaurant is the fact that they make their own desserts A+ for that.
Overall a very poor meal after building up such anticipation, I found that I was extremely disappointed.
For my final comment, and I know people will shoot me down for saying this and once again it is my opinion but the clientele were not at the high end bracket read more
