Good was great, once it arrived... It took about 30 minutes from order to arrival. That's a bit slow in my opinion Otherwise everything else was great

Food was a bit overpriced. But worth it to treat yourself. The dessert was beautiful, every food was like art. The restaurant looked like a garden and was nice and relaxing to sit and enjoy a coffee or chat with a friend. The service was a bit slow, but I think generally in Australia everyone is super laid back compared to North America.

If you want a restaurant that has rustic flare in the food and the ambience, with delicious cocktails & beautiful photo ops, this is seriously your go to! This restaurant is in The Ground of Alexandria. We came here on a weekday to try to avoid the crowds but it was already a really busy lunch service for them on a Wednesday. We had to really get our waitress to notice us on a occasion as she was so busy with her other tables. We had the kangaroo bolognese empanadas and the steamed mussels for our entrees before our mains and they were soo yummy. I've never tried anything like the kangaroo empanadas before which is why I decided to try it. My best description is it tasted like a fancy meat pie as the kangaroo meat was minced with a bolognese sauce consistency. The herbed aioli that came with it, really complimented it too. It wouldn't have been as impressive if it didn't come with that aioli. The mussels were so good the whole bowl was gone in less than 10 minutes haha. Flavourful and cleaned well. The sirloin steak sadly wasn't the best I've ever tried. They did great on cooking it to medium rare, but I think the choice of steak was the issue. Also we had to add more salt seasoning to the steak and chips, it was tasting a bit bland. I did love the pan roasted barramundi with squid ink pasta though ! One I'd order again! The drinks although pricey ($18+), were so great. Bf said the best bourbon based cocktail he's ever had! That was the "Full Monte". My tip is to go there in the morning and afternoon if you want to see and experience The Grounds in all of its beauty. It's such a pretty place, you can also look at farm animals and buy flowers from there florist there too ! I'd do my best to stay away on weekends as that's when they're at their busiest.

All of the Grounds of Alexandria is beautiful, so we had high expectations for the food! This cafe was adorable, with everything garden/planting themed. The interior had hundreds of pretty plants and a really nice ambiance. All of our food was delicious as well; we will definitely be returning next time we visit the Grounds.

So they have wood fire in front (in winter)!

[i do not understand why this place only have so few reviews! It is hugely popular!?!] The Potting Shed. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. I think the first thought is how family friendly the place is. First time I came was for a casual night dinner, and I thought let's find something like a pub with some good atmosphere and music. Rocked up to Potting Shed, it ticks every box! Good beer, good vibe, good music, great atmosphere (to be honest, it's just hard... but I was with my lady)...ticks all the boxes... but to my amazement.; LOTS of kids are running around! Families bring their young ones for moms/dads parties, kids hang out with their friends on the swing on a side. If you get there early, kids can even visit the little in house farm, which is awesome. Now the food. The food is an interesting one. It tasted great, but awfully small. So small that I think some of the items should not be on the main menu! I eventually resorted to getting an additional pulled pork burger as well, after my initial 'main meal' failed me (no i do not eat a lot). That said, I enjoyed the meal, the place, and will come back again.

I forgot the name of this was too much ice. Never get this again

A lot of local people love this place so why not I'm all the way here in Sydney so let me try! I ordered Cheese burger- patty was lilbit dry and over cook( ordered medium but it came almost well done) has fried onion ring into the burger was covered dry patty was good combination Pumpkin salad-it came with pita bread especially if you like healthy dishes with good taste of food? Yup this is the one! Panko Pork belly slider-just came without fries or salad nope just two pieces sliders came taste of the sliders was just alright. Nothing special but good. Sample add good . They used the black bread which is squid ink (my guessing) it was good combination! Asahi beer-small size but taste fresh Fresh squeezed juice- So fresh Mule??? (forgot the name ) shaves ice juice? Was good taste but too much shaved ice after I had few sips gone already!! Not worth for the price..

Rustic & magical! Food was delicious had a geeat twist on their cheeesecake, ambiance was amazing with lots to discover including Kevin Bacon the pig! Fairy lights & lots of greenery, would take someone here to set the mood ;) Going back again!! Loses a star for the price unfortunately.. but worth it!

It's like having a picnic in the garden. So green and so fresh. Full of potted pretties everywhere and a cute little parrot at the entry to greet you. Wow! I can see why this place is so popular. I think it is necessary to book ahead as I saw that some couples were told that there was a 2 hour wait. I was lucky that our hosts booked a table in advance. I went here on a Monday, so I think that this was to our benefit. The menu is mixed, a bit of everything to choose from. Whether you want a burger or salad, you will find something to cater your needs. I have always been a fan of a good ol' platter, something comforting about it. And boy was I glad we ordered it, this thing was massive! Easily enough for 4 people. The serve was very generous for $65. I was really impressed. All of the meats and cheeses are collected from "Salt, Meat and Cheese" store next door. Great if you really want to buy some of the selection to take home afterwards. I just want to make a point that the portions of cheese were great on this platter. I consumed enough tasty fromage to have cheesemares tonight. Oh what a lunch! Haha

Dear god, if I could marry a cafe, this would be the one. Everything about the Potting Shed (and the Grounds, for that matter) is PERFECT. I love every single thing about this place, I'm still frothing in the mouth over it. First of all, it is absolutely stunning. You are in an enclosed garden area, surrounded by pots of small succulents and climbers and ferns and everything in between. To be within such a cool green environment is seriously the best thing. They've got mist machines installed overhead as well which cools down the place significantly. What's even more amazing is how much they are on top of the cool factor. Hash tag your instagram photos with #swingbytheshed and the printer (located by the entrance near the sqwuaking parrot - a parrot!!) will print them out almost instantly. How cool is that?! We got a few snaps printed. It was too cool. On top of that, the staff. They must've culled through human beings and picked out the most attractive and nice human beings in Sydney. The girl who served us (holla!) was not only helpful, she was bubbly and very attentive and was doing her job as a waitress incredibly well. We loved her! Food wise, it was just about one of the best breakfast/brunches we've ever had in our lives. We got the large Pimms which came in a massive glass bowl with fresh fruits swimming in it. I got the chicken with chips and they were both to die for. The chicken breast was so juicy and tender I died and went to heaven. The chips were well seasoned and the sauces were amazing. Because we wanted to stay longer, we got dessert which was the tarte tatin one and the fruit salad with cake underneath - both absolutely mouthwatering. Oh my god I would love to come back here asap. Thanks, Potting Shed crew for making our visit so memorable. Protip: The place opens at 11am so don't come earlier if you want breakfast!

Staff extremely helpful and food fresh and inventive. The ambience is great but be prepared of a lot of background chatter and birds screaming. It's all apart of this hotels charm! Food never fails you. It's just so joyous and with the times. I love everything to do with the whole grounds.

A little late for this review ! But why not while I look back at the year that made 2015 :) Don't get me wrong with the whole 3/5 stars review. This place is beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing There's a bird to say hello to at the front while you wait for a seat (not a chicken, it's a parrot ). A little wheelbarrow with some hot logs to cook some marshmallow ! (Who doesn't like a good melted marshmallow ? ) Let's get to the food! Now looking at the selection of food, they kept it to the bare minimum which is good because it shows that they really want to focus on flavor (which is what I assume anyways ) We picked our food which consisted of pull pork, potato gnocchi and fish. Let's start with the pulled pork, everyone loves a good sandwich but what makes a good sandwich ? One that is juicy and is dripping of juice, flavor that takes your tastes buds to a new planet ! That's how I see it anyways. However this pulled pork lacked that, it didn't quite have that flavor that you usually find in a pulled pork. The bread was nice, but considering you're eating it head on.... It was a little hard for my liking maybe a little Au Jus on the side is needed to help break down that crispy bread whilst retaining the juiciness of the pork ! Next !! The potato gnocchi, this was first time eating it in all honesty ! But this felt heavy and overall too much with the eggs. So close yet so far... Hit and a miss for me Lastly the fish ! Ahhh the fish, the dish that usually saves you when you don't know what else to get ! and it turns out my friend hit the jackpot choosing this as it was delicious, fresh and juicy. So what did I learn ? I learnt that when in doubt ... Choose the fish !! You can't go wrong with a good fish dish !!

This place was so cool! I honestly loved it so much and can't wait to go back when we come back to Sydney next weekend. The atmosphere is amazing with tons of cool stuff. They have pigs, goats, chickens all in a beautiful garden environment. I loved the fresh flowers and all of the greenery. The food was okay. I think the atmosphere is what makes it so awesome, not the food. I went with my mum and husband. I got the eggs over toast, my nun got the breakfast burger and my husband got the Big Brekkie. Mine was good but not amazing (but it's just egg and toast so I didn't have high expectations), my mom really liked her breakfast burger and my husband wasn't crazy about his big brekkie. The Big Brekkie had a lot of flavors and we didn't like all of them mixed together. We also got dessert which consisted of the raspberry cheesecake, eclair and the Paris bris dessert. The Paris dessert was PERFECTION. It is one of our all time favorite desserts. If you don't get anything else at this restaurant, get this. It is a caramel and hazelnut piece of absolute bliss. All 3 of us loved this dessert and my husband and mom really loved the cheesecake also. Eclair was not good, so don't get that. The Potting Shed is definitely somewhere you don't want to miss when visiting Sydney. We stayed at Sir Stamford near the opera house and it was about a 15 - 20 min uber ride to get over there but it was worth it!

    Adorably presented selection of desserts

Geez The Grounds peeps sure know how to deck out a place. Next to their ever-so-popular cafe is a newish bar/wine-garden/restaurant. If you found their cafe presentation impressive, you better sit down (preferably at The Potting Shed, with a cocktail) before you check out this joint's decor. As the name suggest, the whole place looks like one massive greenhouse/shed with lots of plants, gardening tools, buckets, and other gardening apparatus that I cannot name. It's cute, charming and flatteringly lit. Best of all, they take bookings, even large groups. No I will not get out or shut up. Have been a couple of times and it seems kitchen mix up/issues seems to be a bit of a common theme but once we chased them up, they were very apologetic and hard to stay mad at (especially since their cocktails are so good and well presented...punch from your own personal tap anyone?).

These are the PORK SLIDERS from the Potting Shed, they're actually Potting Sh-t! YUK!! SLAPPED up! Aesthetically revolting!

Both bartenders were quick, courteous, and gave awesome recommendations. I usually drink beer but since this was more of a cocktail bar, I started with a margarita. I asked for the basic, but the bartender quickly tried to get me to try the jalapeno margarita. I was quick to decline since I'm not into jalapeno or spicy drinks. The drink was mixed and strained into a martini glass... didn't seem to be as full as it should have been, but I wasn't upset. Drink tasted great, not too strong, too sweet, or too tart. I noticed lots of people getting the freshly pressed apple drinks, so I decided to try one. When in Rome, er, Newtown.... Asked for the Sailor Jerry and apple, but once again, the bartender was quick to recommend something different. He wanted me to try JD Tennessee Fire and apple. I know it's like Fireball, which I hate, but he was very persistent with his glowing recommendation, so I obliged. I'm glad I did, because it was delicious. You could only taste a hint of the whiskey, but mixed in with the fresh apple juice - which had a nice frothy foam on top - it was like cinnamon spiced apple sauce. Yum! If you don't listen to the bartender's advice, listen to mine! Prices? Eh, it's Sydney, not cheap. It is what it is. In the end, very pleased with my visit. Kind of annoying that both times I asked for a drink, they tried to convince me to make me something else (must have been competing on a promo or something), but hey, their advice was sound and if I didn't listen, I would't have had my delicious applesauce drink!
