I have now just visited again (July, 2025) It is this recent visit, and the culmination of my previous visits, that I realized above all else, it is the staff, from the front desk personnel, the servers at the restaurant, the bartenders, the house cleaning team and even overnight security that make the Arundell so special. And on this particular visit, one employee in particular (Emma, who often works at reception, went above and beyond to help me out of a significant, unexpected travel bind.  Thank you to Emma and the entire Arundell staff - I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

My husband and I came here for a meal on a Saturday night, booking in advance and we both really enjoyed ourselves! BACKGROUND: The Classroom is led by a very experienced head chef and they train those studying culinary and hospitality at Cardiff and Vale College to help students get valuable work experience, which I'm happy to support! They also hold occasional cookery classes for the general public that you can book. All in all, the idea behind this restaurant is excellent! ATMOSPHERE: As its on the top floor (floor 5) of the Cardiff and Vale College building, the atmosphere is great. Open kitchen for you to see inside as the chefs prepare along with large glass windows for excellent views. The chairs are comfortable and it really models modern European fine dining! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! The waiting staff manager has worked in a Michelin starred restaurant before so he definitely knows his hospitality. We were greeted promptly with our coats taken and never had to flag down anyone for attention. Our meals arrived quickly as well and it was an extremely efficient service! FOOD: The food here at The Classroom is on a seasonal menu, so if you visit you probably won't be having the same stuff as me, but everything I had was delicious! ~ Starter: Smoked Haddock & Shellfish Chowder with Parsley Oil (£6.95) An excellent start to the meal. I love Smoked Haddock and this chowder had excellent flavours and tasted like the sea. There was a generous amount of haddock as well which I was pleased about and the parsley made for a well balanced finish. ~ Main: Glazed Jacobs Ladder, potato terrine, carrot purée, roasted white asparagus and Italian peas, crispy silver skin onions, red wine jus (£19.95) Really good! The beef was cooked perfectly and was extremely tender and fell off the bone. The carrot puree was extremely creamy and delicious and the onions packed a flavourful punch. My only complaint about this dish is I felt it could have done with a tad extra seasoning as the jus was a little bland but there was salt at the table so it was an easy fix. ~ Dessert: Stuffed baked apple, spiced mascarpone mousse (£5.95) The baked apple was stuffed with what I think was minced meat, and baked with a caramelised outside. Very delicious and the spices they used were fantastic! I especially loved the mascarpone mousse as I'm a huge fan of mascarpone. --- Overall, I would definitely recommend The Classroom to anyone. The prices aren't completely out of this world for a special occasion and my husband and I both loved what we had. I will definitely be back in the Summer to see what their Summer menu would bring!

The food is excellent, I highly recommend the lamb dish, but everything we had was really good. Interesting flavors and great textures, we got to enjoy new takes on classic meals. The service was also top notch, and their cocktails were a lot of fun, including the non-alcoholic drinks for those of us who drive and/or don't want to drink. Really great place!

The dishes were all interesting and beautifully presented. My only request would be a bit more time between courses. They come quickly. Our server was pleasant and friendly, and she remained so even after the restaurant became busy. She was working hard, but always remained kind and helpful. The restaurant is casual, but also upscale. We are visitors to Cardiff. Heaney's could be a successful restaurant in California Wine County. It has the same rustic chic vibe. My only request would be different "music." The thumping house music felt out of step with the food and became tiresome. Overall, I would recommend Heaney's to anyone who enjoys the adventure of a tasting menu. It was well worth the visit.

The dishes were well seasoned and just the right amount of food. My only complaint is that we discovered this place while on vacation. It may be a long time until we are able to visit again! Please enjoy their food for us! We sat inside but I believe you may have the option to sit on the covered patio. The dishes came out at a good pace. I don't know how to rate the dishes as everything tasted so good. We started with the oysters and ended with dessert and a cheese plate. Everything in between was just delicious. Come check it out for yourself! Enjoy!

We had a warm welcome in there and we were shown to our table right away. We were a table of six - four chefs and two publicans. It's tiny in here, but that really adds to the ambience and charm of the place. I'd imagine that I'd feel a bit self conscious if I was on a date with a hot lady, the tables seem pretty close.. An awkward silence would be noticed by all the other diners. As for the food though, it was really good. I had a game terrine to start. Roast duck with dauphinoise for mains and a sticky chocolate cake for pud. We had a measly bit of delicious home made bread as well, I like to be in charge of my own bread, not be offered one slice, however delicious is it. We went on a Wednesday, so it was under £30 for three courses. That's great value if you think about it. A duck breast would cost maybe £16-17 elsewhere, then split the other two courses between the rest. We spent a fortune, but we had lots of wine. All in all a very nice place, and something Taunton needs to hang on to before it is totally overrun with faux Italian joints. I'll go again for sure. Cheers.
