Location, location, location. This hotel is literally around the block from the Bayswater Tube…read morestation and a block or two down from Queensway. It's also two to three blocks from Hyde Park (if you couldn't guess by the name). There are tons of hotels in the Bayswater area. It's kinda like staying in Midtown NYC or near Michigan Avenue in Chicago---lots of tourists and stuff marketed to tourists---tons of souvenir shops, fast food, Starbucks, etc. Whiteley's mall is a few blocks away as well---note: there is a reasonably priced internet cafe there so you can stay connected. It's also VERY reasonably priced for a hotel in central London. I booked a single room (single = twin bed) for four nights (including full breakfast) for about $250. What a steal! However, for any Americans reading this, let me school you on European hotels. Do not assume private bathroom---read amenities, if it doesn't say en suite or private, it probably doesn't have one. Just warning you so you don't end up like Ellen Griswold inviting a stranger into your bubble bath. Nevertheless, Hyde Park Towers does have private bathrooms, or I should say closets. Teeny tiny bathrooms. So small that I had to prop the door open to be able to stand at the sink and had to straddle the pedestal sink to use the toilet. But I'll take teeny tiny to myself than larger with company. My actual room was small, but comfortable. Twin bed, desk, armoire, mirror and a hutch for luggage. Small television with some cable too. Hairdryer included, so I didn't have to worry about bad hair in the already soggy climate or adapter issues. However, there is no clock in the room so I had to use my cell phone to keep track of time. The breakfast was good. They offer a breakfast buffet, but my reservation included a full breakfast. I overslept one day and missed it, oops. There is a restaurant on site, but I didn't eat there. Also, I want to note that there is an elevator so you don't need to haul luggage upstairs. The front desk was friendly and I had no problems checking in or out. The room was cleaned each day, but the housekeepers were loud so I couldn't enjoy sleeping in too late. (Which is just as well, I'm there for London NOT for sleep) The street view of the hotel is just what you expect of London and is really pretty. In the end, it's a nice, but not fancy, good bargain in Bayswater. I would definitely consider staying again considering the price and location.

I found myself suddenly without a hotel for Saturday night (no, I did not trash the place in honour…read moreof Keith Moon; my hostel and I jointly messed up my last night's reservation). My friends who live in London were variously in India and laid up with flu. I quickly scored a room at this place online after a panicked search, and after a short and rather beautiful late afternoon cab ride from Swiss Cottage I walked through the pretty Victorian doors to a warm and friendly reception from Norah, went to my clean and cozy little room to unpack to the sounds of the TV, and took a long walk to Archway enjoying the architecture and charm of the high street. The free English breakfast was tasty but three times too big, not a problem I object to, so I spirited it off with me and it sustained me all day. Chris, the morning receptionist, told me how to get the bus for Notting Hill (where I had arranged to stay the next day), and I ended up so happy with the place that I booked additional days there for when I get back from France later this week. Enough autobiography; check this place out.

I love it when food is free. :) You have a choice of a full English or continental breakfast. Go with the full English, as the continental is just cereal or oatmeal with some toast. Their full English is really good. Did I mention it's free? - Great location as it's right by the Tufnell Park Tube station. I found it really easy to get to the Queens Hotel from Heathrow. - It's quiet. I only stayed here 3 nights, but I never heard noise from any other residents. - Quite safe. They have 24-hour reception. The bad: - The ONLY bad thing about this place is the Wi-Fi. I stayed on floor 2 and their Wi-Fi did not reach up to my room. I wasn't too bothered as I have free international data through T-Mobile, but others with different cellular networks would find this really inconvenient. You can always go down to their lobby to use Wi-Fi if you really need it. I really have no qualms about the Queens Hotel. Others may not like it due to its lack of fancy things, but this place does not pretend to be fancy. It's clean, comfortable, and the reception is very nice and helpful.

Had to go through lot of unnecessary drama during my stay however i will keep my emotions away and showcase what i found not ok from Guest experience perspective. I originally booked the Hotel for 2 Weeks , Got a fantastic deal. Tara welcomed me at the Front desk, adjusted the pricing for me and gave me a bottle of water. 1) I requested for quiet and bigger room as i am going to stay for 2 weeks, However i ended up in a match box sized room. The front desk folks made me believe that's the best room they got. I would have appreciated honesty in this regard as later i found out there are much Quieter, bigger and nicer rooms available. 2) Elevator on my side is consistently faulty, Thankfully elevator on the other side of the Hotel is working. However its a maintenance problem and customer inconvenience. (It broke down at least for 3 days during my 7 day stay) 3) on Day 4, When i got back to the Hotel in the evening (5 PM) I found water leaking out of the Toilet and not flushing. I am exhausted and repeatedly tried to call the front desk for over 20 mins with no response. I dragged my feet down to the reception to report the problem at 5:30 PM and i got a response that operations are gone for the day and they will arrive the next day morning. Hotel manager did Offer me for a room change. But from my point of view , i am all settled in and if i had to change rooms,i have to pack & Unpack everything. Simple solution should have been calling a plumber and fixing the problem. I am very unhappy at this point. I am tired and my evening which is supposed to be relaxing turned into total chaos for not able to address a simple issue . As a guest , all that i care is not being bothered by unpleasant service related circumstances . 4) Unhappy me told the hotel manager that i would like to check out. Instead of finding a solution , she tried to penalize me for early checkout. This is like putting gasoline in fire. and then disrespected me by offering me free points. I dont care about free stuff, all that i care about is relaxing stay experience. I travelled several miles from home and paid for the hotel not to go through poor service experience. 5) I reported the inconvenience to the IHG Guest relations. and that night Hotel manager moved me to a new Room (spacious). I packed the luggage and moved myself to the new place. It's late in the evening and until the next day i did not look at the cleanliness of the carpet of the room. Hotel manager is not happy that i complained to the guest relations. 6) When i woke up next day i saw massive stains on the carpet in the room. Seriously It looks like Poop & Vomit (Look at the pictures) & appliances in the bathroom are not cleaned or maintained properly. I once again took this to the notice of the front desk and the lady did a walk through and offered me to change rooms again. So the Rooms are Untidy and not clean. It made me question the health regulatory standards in London. Disgusting i must say. 7) That evening they moved me into another room ... again i have to pack all my belongings and drag my tired ass into the new room. Comparatively cleaner but Still got those black stains on the carpet. I once again called the guest relations and updated the ticket with what's going on. 8) The next day, Right infront of the front desk i was confronted by the hotel manager for raising complaint with the guest relations. I dont want to get into the drama that happened But i once again want to say that Hotel manager Tara did her best to provide customer service however she is failed by her management. She doesn't have ultimate power to serve a customer. However i consider this unprofessional. If she had to talk , she should have requested sometime and spoke in the lobby area away from other guests. I did not say nothing about leaving however Hotel Manager said i can checkout anytime i want. Keeping emotions aside, Hotel management is asking me to checkout because i am questioning their untidy rooms and poor operations. 9) I care less about the drama but Hotel tidiness & operations is the most important factor for me. A rather simple solution is being turned into a uncomfortable situation to a customer. I cannot stay at a place where it is hazardous to health and not a relaxing experience. Plus i was unprofessionally treated. At that point i decided to leave the hotel to Marriott brand. Let me tell you, total 360 degree change in experience. My rest of the stay in London is excellent and i highly regret staying at this location and had to go through all the drama in place of Customer Service.

Anyways, I figure one night in the Docklands wasn't the worst thing in the world, with the tube being a block away and all. The hotel was pretty much what I have expected it to be. It was clean and neat and everything was at its minimal. The bathroom was clean, the shower was hot, the tv worked fine and the beds were pretty decent. The continental breakfast that came with the room wasn't as good as the breakfasts I've had at the other Holiday Inn Expresses, but I guess it depends on the region/culture. Overall, it was a good deal and great for a short stay.

Absolutely atrocious experience and still dealing with customer service more than 2 months later…read more Let me preface this with the fact that I book reservations with Premier Inn multiple times a year for different clients and family members. I book online the same way every time and have never had issues like I experienced at this location. I have encouraged all future clients to book elsewhere and will not book any Premier Inn locations again. I made the reservation for 2 clients who were visiting from America. Everything was paid in full and they had the email to prove it. On arrival they were told they owed an additional fee over £200. For that price difference they could have stayed at a 5 start resort in Knightsbridge. They paid the difference as they arrived late at night and were jet-lagged. I arrived in the morning and went to their room so they could show me what they had been given. It was disgusting. There was thick dust everywhere, badly painted walls, mold by the windows and we even found old peanuts under the bed! Absolutely disgusting and thankfully did not trigger one of their peanut allergies. I went to the front desk to discuss the issue and they were offered another room. Needless to say the second room wasn't much better. They had multiple key issues (and no they didn't keep their keys next to their phones), there was no phone in the room so they had to go down any time they had an issue. There was a broken fan in both bathrooms. The toilet seat was broken and coming off. There were also homeless people on the streets below one side of the hotel and they both said you could hear yelling late at night. Not ideal for a week long stay! I came back at the end of their trip to go through the additional charge with the front desk who themselves could not explain it properly. I finally got a manager and asked why my British father (who I booked into the same hotel) didn't received an additional fee but the others did. She didn't have an answer and just said "it's the price" even with me showing her the booking screenshot and confirmation email. After 2 months of dealing with their customer service team, they finally said "we can't discuss any further with you as it's not your name on the booking". So I forwarded all the information to my client and she is still awaiting an answer. At this point I have sent all communication evidence to her so she can dispute the extra charge with her bank. I made 2 reservations at Premier Inn in the same way and my white British friend didn't get charged any additional fees, but my black American clients did. I always aim to give people the benefit of the doubt but this can only be taken one way. Avoid at all costs, especially if you're a foreigner.

Yes, it's a Premier Inn so you're not getting opulent luxury, but it's a great place to get your head down for a night. I stay here when I'm out for work functions or late weeknights rather than return to Southend just to traipse back into London for work the next day. It's south of the river, along Tower Bridge Road and apart from the Costcutter across the road from the hotel, there's not a lot of life in the immediate surrounding area. However, you're only a 15 minute walk from the heart of the City. Because it's such good value it gets booked up so best to check availability early if you want to get a clean, basic room for less than £100 a night.
